Flagship with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Choosing a smartphone with a Full HD screen

One of the most important criteria when choosing a smartphone is its screen. After in 2010 Apple showed a record resolution for that time and the inability to see pixels, manufacturers undertook to get ahead of the apple giant and try to supply their devices with as much as possible high-quality screen. At the same time, manufacturers tried to improve the resolution and increase the density of pixels per inch. Now you will not surprise anyone with HD-resolution in smartphones. What can we say, if gadgets with QHD resolution have become available, but still the Full HD display remains the gold standard of quality, which instantly attracts attention when analyzing a model. If the quality of the picture, the clarity of the image and the lack of the ability to consider individual pixels are a priority for you, then pay attention to the following models, which differ slightly in technical characteristics and cost.

An example of a real flagship device, in which everything is good: the cameras, the processor, and the amount of memory. The smartphone is distinguished by moisture protection, the presence of a heart rate sensor, an energy saving mode and a complete set of everything you need today. wireless technologies. But the screen made using proprietary AMOLED technology stands out here. It is of such high quality that it transmits all colors as naturally as possible, it is impossible to distinguish pixels on it, and watching movies with it will turn into a real pleasure. The screen, in addition, is very sensitive, quickly responds to touch, but at the same time, the manufacturer managed to maintain a balance and not turn the gadget into another shovel-like device.

As a rule, we want to get a high-quality screen along with other advanced qualities, and this model conquers us with the amount of built-in memory: 4 GB of RAM instantly allocates the gadget and makes it very fast even with a huge number of applications. In addition, pleases the battery capacity, camera resolution and corporate design. On such stylish case a high-quality 5.5-inch screen is very harmoniously located, bringing the smartphone closer to the army of tablet phones. The screen here turned out to be of really high quality and turned into another advantage of the gadget, having wide viewing angles and correct color reproduction.

Another flagship in our review, which pleases technical specifications. It uses 8 cores operating at different frequencies: 4 of them at 2 GHz are activated to solve the most complex tasks, the remaining 4 at 1.5 GHz are necessary to maintain operation standard applications. As a result, the smartphone flies on complex applications and consumes battery economically when using a set simple applications. The smartphone has a beautiful design, excellent sound, thoughtful shell and, of course, a high-quality screen. Here it is even better than in previous generations, it has become even clearer, richer and more contrasting, and now it claims to be one of the best screens in its class.

The flagship, which cannot be called a novelty, but at the same time, it continues to bribe with a set of its characteristics. Being very compact by today's standards and weighing only 30 grams, it combines speed, good battery, excellent reserves random access memory and good screen. The screen here is covered with a protective glass, is of the highest quality and displays a clear, bright and contrasting image. Working with such a smartphone is a pleasure, and now that the price has dropped a little, it is becoming more accessible to many users who want to get themselves a quality branded device.

This smartphone will impress everyone with its thoughtful design, dust and water resistance, LTE support and an incredible camera that creates great shots in a variety of conditions. The amount of RAM is also captivating, which, together with a fast processor, becomes a guarantee of lightning-fast work with any applications. The battery is another advantage of the device, as is the sound, but still we pay more attention to the screen, which in this smartphone is beyond praise. The manufacturer spared no effort and created an ideal screen in all respects with the widest viewing angles, which will delight users with clarity and quality.

It should be noted that high-quality FullHD screens are now available not only in expensive flagship devices. Thanks to Chinese companies, now for a relatively small amount you can buy a smartphone with a screen that is not inferior to more expensive counterparts and Lenovo Vibe X is an example. The first thing you notice when looking at this phone is its thinness and compactness, and when you take it in your hand, you understand that we have one of the lightest 5-inch smartphones in front of us. And the screen here is worthy of praise, as it is of extraordinary quality. All together, this makes the model look much more expensive than it really is. And the cameras here are excellent, and the stuffing is powerful, however, in such a thin smartphone there was no place for a slot for a memory card and for a more capacious battery. But for the money that it costs, these flaws can be forgiven.

Another Chinese smartphone that has all the characteristics necessary for a modern user. Powerful filling, capacious battery, slim body and design with a hint of the iPhone, good cameras and, of course, the screen, which distinguishes the gadget from the mass of similar ones in this price category. Many experts seriously call the screen in this device one of the best in terms of viewing angles, image quality and color reproduction.

1080p displays promise flawless picture quality. However, our testing has shown that high-definition screens alone are not enough.

Testing smartphones with Full HD Admittedly, the situation is somewhat strange: many computer monitors still do not have such high resolution, however, there are Cell phones with screens Full format HD. During our testing, we thoroughly tested what the first models are capable of and what benefits 1080p brings to everyday use. To show differences between devices different generations, we compared HTC One, Sony Xperia Z and samsung galaxy S4 with the leader of the previous tests - HTC One X +.

When viewed from the outside, the flagships from HTC and Sony make a good impression: Sony focuses on glass, HTC - on aluminum, so these phones have nothing to do with the "plastic" appearance of competitors. A notable feature of the HTC One model are the excellent stereo speakers that are located above and below the screen. They provide great sound that doesn't lose its fullness even when you put your smartphone on the table to watch a video.

IR transmitter for use as a remote control

In addition to stereo speakers, HTC One has another interesting feature: Hidden under the power button on the top side is an IR transmitter that can be used to control TVs and AV receivers. During testing, there were no problems with this. The Xperia Z features a waterproof design that prevents damage to the device if it falls into the pool or makes phone calls in heavy rain, for example. To do this, the Sony model has all the connectors hidden under small plugs that need to be opened every time to copy data or listen to music. In addition, Xperia Z has protective film, which is easily scratched and quickly covered with greasy spots. If you want to keep elegant appearance device, you will often need to use a cloth or remove the film.

Samsung, unlike competitors, uses proven materials, that is, glossy plastic, familiar to users from previous models. Externally, the S4 is practically no different from the S3. It weighs less than smartphones from HTC and Sony and is slightly thinner than its competitors. In addition, the S4 is the only top-of-the-line phone that offers a battery swap option. Like the Xperia Z, it has a microSD card slot.

Smartphones in comparison

Pixel count isn't everything: in addition to image clarity, we also evaluate color and contrast stability when the device is tilted. And in performance tests, we checked the speed of the phones.

Galaxy S4 gesture control needs work

The Samsung Galaxy S4 stands out from the competition with new software features designed to make it easier to manage. "Smart Scroll", for example, allows you to control content without touching the display, using front camera and position sensor. During testing, however, there were problems with this.

Screen: 5", 1920x1080, IPS
Processor: Mediatek MT6589 (Cortex-A7 1.2GHz, 4 cores)
Video accelerator: PowerVR SGX544
Operating system: Android 4.2.1 ( Jelly Bean)
RAM: 1GB
User Memory: 4GB + MicroSD slot supporting cards up to 32GB
Camera: front 1MP, rear - 8MP
Communication: 2 SIM cards (GSM+WCDMA), GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi(802.11 b/g/n)
Battery: 2000mAh
Dimensions: 141 x 69 x 9.68(9.38)mm

The Mediatek MT6589 quad-core chip has already become the standard for smartphones manufactured in China in 2013. The energy efficient Cortex-A7 up to 1.2GHz delivers excellent performance results. The only drawback of the platform is the lack of devices with 2 GB of RAM. Initially, it was about some problem of compatibility between the MT6589 and 2GB of memory, but at the moment there are rumors about problems with the supply of 2GB chips. The first devices with 2GB of RAM are the Dakele Big Cola 2 and UMI X2, which is scheduled to go on sale at the end of May.

Appearance and equipment

Many manufacturers have made it a standard to use very heavy cardboard for the box to prevent damage during shipping.
The box itself is white, with a concise X7 inscription on top:

Inside is a smartphone:

Front located touch buttons backlit:

Front 1 MP camera:

Design back cover very similar to OPPO Find 5.

The back cover is made of plastic, and there was a slight misunderstanding with it during production. In the first batches, the lid was too thick, and later it was replaced with another one, due to which the total thickness decreased from 9.68mm to 9.38mm. And when buying 3000mAh, a separate black cover is included in the kit.

Rear 8MP camera with flash:

The power button is on the right:

On the left is the volume rocker:

3.5mm headphone jack located on top:

The photo shows the lack of a thick cover, it does not fit snugly due to the design of the latches.

Microphone and microUSB input:

The location of all interfaces is very standard.

Under the cover there are 2 slots for SIM cards (one of them is microSIM) for working in GSM / WCDMA networks, a slot for microSD memory cards. As well as a 2000mAh battery.

3G works on microSIM. Frequencies on which SIM cards can work:

Speaker proudly labeled "3D":

To be honest, the proud inscription does not give it a special sound. It is loud and the sound in it is the most common, as in other phones.

The kit includes Charger and USB cable. A colorful instruction with hieroglyphs is not of particular value:

Charger 5V/1A with retractable plug:

Using an adapter spoils the beauty a little:

Screen

The screen is really good. Resolution of 1920x1080 pixels at 5 inches look just fine!
Despite the seemingly big size 5 inch smartphone fits comfortably in the hand:

It should be noted that the frame around the screen is very thin, which is positive for the overall width.

At this resolution, the pixels are absolutely indistinguishable.

At any tilt, the picture remains clear:

Viewing angles correspond to a good IPS screen. What can be distinguished - when tilted, the black remains as black as possible, without a tint to gray.

Games

The touchscreen works great in arcade games:

3D games may experience issues due to performance optimization issues on the MT6589. But most games still work, and there are no difficulties due to FULL HD screen resolution.

Sound

The quality of the speaker and microphone is excellent. The speakerphone is good, with a predominance of high frequencies. The vibrating alert is also present, but it is not very strong and will be almost invisible through the clothes.

Web browsing

The pixel density of 443PPI allows you to see even the smallest text on the page. Compared with MT6577, the speed of processing (loading/scrolling/zooming) pages by the MT6589 chip has increased significantly.

Bluetooth, WiFi

Wifi works well, like in any other Chinese smartphone: after 1-2 walls, the signal level is stable, after 3, breaks are already possible. Bluetooth is up and running.

GPS

Probably the only drawback in this smartphone is the weak level of GPS reception. Perhaps in the next firmware updates they will be able to fix this, but at the moment the situation looks like this:

One of the advantages of navigation is the presence of a compass.

Software

Pre-installed OS Android 4.2.1:

Without add-ons, the usual "naked" Android.

Performance

Mediatek MT6589 is a chip that consists of a 4-core Cortex-A7 processor with a frequency of up to 1.2GHz and a PowerVR SGX544 video accelerator. iOcean X7 has 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage.
Let's see how much the increase in screen resolution to 1920x1080 pixels affects system performance.
Let's start with the Antutu test:

The results are about 2000 less than on similar 5-inch smartphones with a screen of 1280x720 pixels.

Quadrant and Vellamo:

3849 is a good result for a smartphone with this screen resolution. Vellamo's HTML 5 processing test results confirm excellent web page processing speed.

Nenamark 2:

But in graphics test the drop in performance is much more noticeable - the result is only 28.1 fps.

Working hours

What can you expect with a 2000mAh battery? With very active use, the battery lasts for 1 day. If you use for calls + Internet via Wifi - you can stretch for 2-3 days.
The results in Antutu battery Tester are as follows:

Self-discharge per night is about 1%.

cameras

Permission rear camera is 8MP. The cameras are normal, without BSI. At good lighting The picture quality is very good:

Macro:

Advantages and disadvantages

Screen with a resolution of 1920x1080
Built-in compass
3000mAh battery as an option
Poor GPS reception
2000mAh battery in basic version

On the one hand, it turned out to be a mid-range smartphone, but with a big advantage in the form of an incredible FULL HD screen. The closest competitors are Zopo C2 and THL W8S, which cost about $240-250, which is $40-50 more than iOcean X7. Another undoubted plus for the X7 is the possibility of purchasing a 3000mAh battery.

Price

The price of iOcean X7 on the official website of the manufacturer is 999 yuan ($160). This cost does not include shipping and fees. payment system(4% - Paypal, 5% Aliexpress Escrow). Plus, do not forget about the profit of the seller. In total, depending on the greed, the price fluctuates between $220-230.

Like last year, today, October 4, Google held a presentation of a key line of new devices under the slogan "Made by Google" (Made by Google). The main novelties of the event were the second generation of the flagship smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL, produced by two different manufacturers- HTC and LG. Leading world trends mobile technology 2017, namely the rejection of the 3.5 mm audio jack and a frameless screen, came to the smartphones of the search giant. But, of course, there are other interesting virtues in the presented Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Similar to the duo Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL received a different look using common design solutions. So, if the back of the latest Google flagships is almost indistinguishable from each other (except perhaps only by the location of the flash), then in front they differ significantly. HTC's Pixel 2 has wide bezels on the top and bottom, as well as on the sides, using a standard 16:9 aspect ratio display panel with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels (Full HD). Pixel 2 XL from LG is made in accordance with the popular "chip" of most flagship A-brands - here is an elongated 18:9 screen, a resolution of 2880x1440 pixels (Quad HD +), and rounded edges. Diagonals and matrices are also different: in Pixel 2 it is 5 inches and AMOLED, while in Pixel 2 XL P-OLED is used at 6 inches. Protective glass the same in both models - Gorilla Glass 5, in Pixel 2 XL beveled at the edges using 3D Arc Glass technology. Google has also brought back the stereo speakers on the front panel that users of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P liked so much.

In terms of technical equipment, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are the same. The processor in the new products is the current flagship Snapdragon 835 solution from Qualcomm - 8 cores with clock frequency up to 2.3 GHz, 64-bit architecture, Adreno 540 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 4 GB (LPDDR4X type), 64 or 128 GB is provided for file storage with unlimited online storage for photos and videos. Built-in battery capacity varies greatly due to different sizes of new smartphones: 2,700 mAh for the Pixel 2 and 3,520 mAh for the Pixel 2 XL. Own technology fast charging Super Fast Charging, according to the company, provides 7 hours battery life 15 minutes of mains power. The body material used is aluminum with the typical Pixel glass insert on the back. Basic water resistance has been increased to the IP67 standard.

The cameras in the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have improved both in software and hardware, but not significantly. The front module is an 8-megapixel sensor with f / 2.4 aperture and fixed focus, the main one is 12 megapixels (f / 1.8 aperture, pixel size 1.4 microns, laser and phase detection autofocus) with support for optical (OIS) and electronic (EIS) image stabilization. The new Pixel Visual Core technology is responsible for processing photos, providing high quality shooting in any lighting conditions. DxOMark, a professional camera evaluation resource, has already announced the results of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL - the flagships took the lead with a record score of 98/100 points. Last year, Google similarly won the rankings with the 89 points that the original Pixel scored.

Appeared in branded flagships Google second generations and a number of new functionality. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL received a redesigned Pixel Launcher with a search bar at the bottom of the screen, Active Edge-like squeezable edges, and support for the Android ARCore augmented reality platform. The company forgot to update voice assistant Google Assistant - Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are the first smartphones in the Google lineup to recognize objects using new technology. Also, rumors were confirmed that the second generation of the flagships of the search giant will constantly listen to ambient music: special application Now Playing works in the background and uses built-in sensors to analyze tracks. Song titles will be shown on the Always-On Display lock screen.

The new flagships Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL work under Android control 8.0 oreo. Claimed update support operating system and security patches - now 3 years instead of 2 years for previous Google flagship smartphones. The start of mass sales of new products is scheduled for mid-November, without an exact date yet. Official retail prices are $649 for the Pixel 2 and $849 for the Pixel 2 XL. For twice the amount of memory, they ask for $100 more for both models. Smartphones will be available for purchase in several colors: Pixel 2 in black (Just Black), white (Clear White) and blue (Kindla Blue), and Pixel 2 XL in just two shades - black and black and white.
