I doubt that people will want a phone in a couple, which will be with modern filling, and look exactly like the iPhone 6S. Antenna stripes and a protruding camera were not the best solutions.
But the 5S is so good that without adding anything to the external characteristics, Apple released an identical phone. I'm talking about SE now, which shows good sales statistics.
Hardware stuffing. Of course, the 5S copes with all modern tasks, but not as well as we would like. 
The 6S allows you to perfectly cope with any task, and multitasking is just a fairy tale. When in 5S everything does not open so quickly, and you can run up to 3 serious programs at the same time.

Camera and battery. Of course rear camera inferior in MP quite seriously: 12 versus 8. But despite this, in the daytime on 5S you can take very decent pictures.

Although no, one rumor did come true. The screen just got bigger. In the iPhone 5S, it was 4 '', in the iPhone 6 it became 4.7 ''. This makes all the difference.
The iPhone screen used to be called Retina by the marketing word, but now it has been re-named Retina HD. "Probably increased the pixel density" - thinks a tech-savvy reader and will be mistaken. The pixel density in the iPhone 6 remains exactly the same as in the 5S - 326 PPI. Apple only raised the resolution to 1334 * 750, so that 326 PPI was 4.7 '', hence the HD prefix to the retina.

The fact that the main camera pops out of the body by a thickness more than the iPhone 6 has "shrunk" compared to the 5S does not seem to be its only problem.Many wondered: "What will the camera be in the iPhone 6?" The resolutions were called 10 and 13 MPx. But Apple has not yet forgotten how to amaze and the resolution ended up being 8 MPx. This figure has not changed since 2011 (iPhone 4s).
