Review of the Lenovo S939 smartphone - a six-inch hard worker. Video: Lenovo S930 review and tests

Smartphones with a large screen diagonal are more and more confidently conquering a place in the sun. Consumer desires to comfortably watch videos, work with documents, surf the Internet, play games on their mobile phones find feedback in the lines of devices from leading manufacturers, and more and more models with a display size of 6 inches appear on sale. If you believe the reviews of users of the portal about Chinese mobile phones China-review, buy a device with large display wants more than 20 percent of its readers. Today we provide you with an overview of the Lenovo S939 phablet from one of the leaders in the global mobile phone market, Lenovo.

Specifications

Lenovo's "S" series stands for a line primarily intended for entertainment and multimedia, and in such tasks, large screen sizes are an undoubted advantage. But if we digress from the large diagonal of the display of the hero of our review and study it specifications The Lenovo S939 is quite your typical midrange.

First of all, in the description of the parameters of the smartphone, two points draw attention to themselves. The amount of RAM in 1 GB today is more typical for budget devices and may turn out to be small in demanding applications, especially games. But this smartphone has a high-performance eight-core MediaTek processor MTK6592, promising excellent system performance under heavy load.

The battery has a good capacity, allowing you to hope that it can successfully cope with the appetites of the gluttonous high-frequency and multi-core processor.

In general, we can say that the popularity this decision will depend on its price. Lenovo is not accustomed to overpricing its devices, and even after it appeared on the market at the beginning of the year, the model managed to get decently cheaper. As of November 2014, you can buy Lenovo S939 at a price of approximately UAH 3,000, which is $ 188. This cost for a model with such parameters seems to us quite reasonable.

Description

The package contents of Lenovo S939 can be called quite good for the price of the device. In a neat light gray box, carefully and tightly packed, the following accessories and instructions are found:

Charger with an adapter for European sockets;

USB cable;

Instruction in Chinese;

Cheap black headphones;

Protective film on the screen.

On the box itself, you will not find any additional information about the characteristics of the phone, except for the model name.

In the hands of Lenovo, the S939 seems enormous. Large mobile phones are usually called "shovels", but it is with the six-inch model that you begin to fully understand the meaning of this word. If we compare it with the 5.3-inch or 5,3-inch that we reviewed the other day, the difference in half an inch of the diagonal in practice turns out to be very noticeable for the user. The model is simply not very comfortable to hold with one hand, not to mention any active use, even despite the small thickness of the case. This mobile phone clearly intended for two hands.

By design, Lenovo S939 is a usual "black brick" for this manufacturer, neat, convenient, but not memorable. The frames around the sensor are wide enough, but given the overall dimensions of the device, you no longer pay attention to this. Just as much space is allocated below and above the screen as is necessary to accommodate all interface elements.

Above the display are the earpiece speaker grill, to the right of it is the front camera and further the sensors and the event indicator. Below, under the touchscreen, there are three standard touch buttons"Menu", "Home" and "Back", brightly highlighted, but unfortunately not backlit.

On the right side there is a sound volume control key and under it is a smartphone power button.

Above is a lonely headphone jack.

The left side of the smartphone is empty.

And on the bottom there is a micro-USB connector.

The back cover is made of soft-touch plastic with fine notches, thanks to which your fingers do not slip on it while using the device. The window of the main camera protrudes somewhat above its surface. Right there on the sides of the camera there is a flash LED and a microphone hole. The external speaker is at the bottom of the cover. So that it does not fit tightly to the surface, there is a small protrusion in the middle of its lattice.

Under the back cover, you can familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the battery in Chinese, as well as make sure that this mobile phone supports work with two full-size SIM cards (only one can work in 3G mode), and also has a slot for a micro-SD flash drive.

In the last review, we pointed out flaws in the assembly, consisting in a loose fit. back cover... Lenovo S939 is devoid of these problems, the smartphone is assembled to glory. The model does not bend or creak when pressed or twisted, and the battery cover stays in place like a glove.

Screen

Display Lenovo S939 has a diagonal of 6 ", HD resolution 1280x720 pixels and is made using IPS technology. We liked the quality of the resulting image. Viewing angles cannot be called record-breaking, but they are very good. Color reproduction is pleasant to the eye. Automatic brightness control is present and works correctly, and there is a margin of maximum brightness will be enough for working with a mobile phone on a sunny day.
It is unclear whether there is an air gap between the touchscreen and the matrix, but the image is really bright, contrasting and makes a very good impression.
The display supports multi-touch for 10 simultaneous touches.

Iron

In Lenovo S939, the manufacturer did not skimp on a fast platform, having installed an eight-core MediaTek MTK6592 processor with a frequency of 1.7 GHz in this model. It is all the more strange why, with such good characteristics CPU at Lenovo, it was decided to equip this smartphone with just one gigabyte of RAM. Indeed, where the processor will cope without problems, such a small amount of it can become a bottleneck (first of all, we are talking about games, but for some other tasks this can also be important).

In the synthetic test Antutu benchmark, the Lenovo S939 scored an excellent 28,800 points, and even with normal use of the phone, there were no performance problems. But the apparent imbalance between processor power and amount of RAM is striking.

The Lenovo S939 has 8 GB of memory, of which a little less than 5 GB is available to the user.

Other parameters

The sound of Lenovo S939 can hardly be called outstanding. The volume of the external speaker is average, as is the clarity of the sound. The same applies to the 3.5 "audio output when using the included headphones. Perhaps expensive headphones could make a difference here.

But the wireless modules were pleased with the quality. Both Wi-fi and GPS worked without any problems and deserve the very best reviews.

Camera

A front-facing camera with a resolution of 1.6 Megapixels is installed in the Lenovo S939, clearly for show, however, it is quite possible to communicate on Skype with its help. But the 8-megapixel main camera module was a pleasant surprise. Despite the not the highest matrix resolution, the Lenovo S939 camera showed a very decent quality of both photos and videos. The camera application interface has all the necessary settings to improve the final images, such as parameters of light sensitivity, white balance, various "decorations" and special effects. As for its price, the picture from Lenovo S939 turns out to be quite decent, but for serious photography it is still better to buy a separate camera.

When shooting indoors, you can try playing around with the ISO settings to reduce noise and shake, or use the flash.

The maximum video resolution is Full HD1980x1088, there is autofocus, but you cannot select the focus point during shooting.

Firmware

The Lenovo S939 has already been repeatedly reviewed by us. Android firmware 4.2.2 with Lenovo launcher interface. This lunch changes a little standard view Android, for example, the main menu of programs is missing here, which usually appears when you click center button... But otherwise everything is logical and familiar, users of other firmware are unlikely to feel inconvenience when switching to devices from Lenovo.

During all tests, the firmware worked without problems, with one unpleasant exception. Very often, when opening multiple windows in the browser, it just closed with an error message. In reviews of this model on the forums, we have repeatedly come across a mention of this problem. Most likely, it is treated with a firmware update, but we still have a little unpleasant aftertaste from such a flaw.

Battery

The battery Lenovo S939 is removable, has a capacity of 3000 mA * hours, which with such powerful processor and the size of the screen does not seem superfluous at all. Usually, Lenovo firmware is well optimized for energy saving, and Lenovo S939 was also able to please here: with active use of the Internet, launching videos, tests and enabled GPS modules and Wifi smartphone for a couple of hours it was discharged by hardly 15 percent.

Measurements in the Antutu tester battery benchmark gave a result of 5707 points. With such indicators, there is every chance to hope that even with active use, the smartphone will calmly live the whole day until the evening, when it will need to be recharged.

conclusions

Inexpensive 6-inch smartphones are becoming more and more popular around the world, and Lenovo definitely has something to offer its fans in this segment. The Lenovo S939 phablet we are considering today, although there are not enough stars from the sky, is a quite noteworthy model with good hardware characteristics and a reasonable price. For complete happiness, she lacks only 2 GB of RAM (which can not be fixed in any way) and more stable browser operation (which is quite curable).

If you want to buy yourself a large mobile phone without spending too much money, the Lenovo S939 is worth considering.

Dignity disadvantages

High-quality assembly;

Nice screen;

Powerful processor;

Decent main camera.

Problems with the browser;

I would like 2 GB of RAM

Lenovo has already built a reputation in the electronics market and in recent times churns out new items at an incredible speed. And, surprisingly, many of them turned out to be very interesting solutions in their classes.

I will not write about the history of the company, but I will note interesting fact which is often difficult to find on the net. go on sale only to "emerging markets" (which includes Russia). So on the American official website there is no mention of the company's smartphones and tablets at all. A similar situation we've already seen with Philips smartphones.

However, our today's hero is also absent on the Russian website of the company - this is completely new model- S939, based on the already known eight-core Mediatek MT5692 platform.

We have already tested smartphones on this SoC, and most of them left us with mixed impressions due to very modest indicators of time autonomous work... Let's see if the new one can Lenovo S939 to stand out for the better?

Before us is a typical modern tablet phone with a six-inch mid-range screen. There are quite a few of them on the market today. However, Lenovo specifications The S939 looks generally balanced. The only thing to complain about is just a gigabyte of RAM, which in our time may not always be enough for heavy applications and games. But the battery capacity - not as modest as that of many competitors on the MT6592 - over time, things may not be so sad.

Lenovo S939 review As always, let's start by looking at the packaging and delivery of the smartphone.

Packaging and delivery set

The device comes in a medium-sized cardboard box with a branded texture.

The interior is painted red.

Above, as always, lies the smartphone itself under a protective film. Immediately - a napkin made of rough material.

Everything is packed well: there is a special pocket in the "crib" for a smartphone for documentation, and the lower compartment is divided by a partition so that the accessories do not dangle.

The Lenovo S939 comes with:

  • Documentation;
  • Protective film;
  • Stereo headset with attachments of different sizes;
  • Micro-USB cable;
  • Collapsible Charger;
  • Napkin.

Not a bad kit for a mid-range smartphone.

Let's take a closer look at the accessories.

The stereo headset looks good, it is convenient to use, but the sound quality here is traditionally quite average. However, for conversations in noisy places, as well as listening to something not related to audiophilia, it is suitable.

The remote has two buttons and a microphone.

The charger has a collapsible design, which is often found in smartphones from "direct shipments".

Its build quality can be characterized as average at best, but I had no complaints about the operation of the memory - maybe it was even conceived that way.

Appearance and design

Before us is a classic tablet phone - a monoblock design with touch screen diagonal six inches.

The touch buttons are part of the body, so they do not "eat away" the usable space on the screen. On the other hand, it is not so convenient to use the device in landscape orientation.

An unpleasant surprise is the lack of backlighting of the keys, which is not expected in a smartphone for 10 thousand rubles (just like in the recent LG L90).

The back cover is plastic, matte. The seams in the corners of the edging are not visible or felt tactilely. The quality of the materials is not bad, the accuracy of the fit of the parts is at the same level.

The shape of the smartphone can be called ergonomic, but it is too large. With a width of 83.5 mm, even just holding it is not convenient in either hand (especially a woman's - see the example in the photo below). Seemingly narrow bezels on the sides against the background of the local six-inch screen - in fact, more than 4 mm wide.

The rest of the dimensions, as well as the weight, do not cause problems and are more than acceptable for this class of devices.

Designed in the spirit of the latest Lenovo Vibe Series, with a chrome surround that flares out at the lower rear. The new corporate identity is not bad anyway, and even looks good in black.

The layout of controls is familiar to many Android devices. The volume control and lock buttons are located on the right side.

The AUX connector is located on the top, and the micro-USB port is on the bottom.

The plastic of the back cover is covered with a texture, which improves grip and protects from scratches.

The loudspeaker grill is recessed into the body. You will have to clean it from dust and dirt quite often. It is good that the gaps between the panels are minimal.

The front camera is neatly integrated into the body without any glue residue. To the right of it are light sensors, proximity sensors and an LED indicator. The work of the sensors is adequate, although the change in brightness could have been smoother. During the entire testing period, the proximity sensor "did not miss" a single phantom press.

The indicator operates in a two-color mode, has an average brightness and, if an event is missed, it blinks about once every three seconds, which is rare.

The touch keys are made in the corporate design and painted "chrome". Backlighting, I repeat, is not provided here. However, such buttons will not be visible unless in complete darkness.

The volume rocker has a short stroke and a distinct but soft click. Key play is present, but within reasonable limits.

The main camera is assembled well, no substrates come out from under the glass. A little confused by the very small diameter of the lenses, which is more peculiar front cameras... Apparently, the optical aperture is low here.

The design is slightly pushed out of the case and is not protected in any way, so that the glass can be scratched during prolonged use.

The ringer speaker is equipped with poorly developed anti-muting protection, however, due to the curved body, it is not needed here.

The body opens behind a depression at one of the corners. The cover is difficult to remove, which instills confidence in the reliability of the design.

The latches are quite primitive, but they do their job perfectly.

The cover itself is devoid of stiffening ribs.

The smartphone has one of the most common layouts for SIM cards and memory cards.

Only the right SIM card slot can work with 3G networks, the other is content with 2G. An abundant amount of information is provided under the battery.

Both slots are for standard format cards. The structure is fastened with ordinary screws, so it will not be difficult to disassemble it.

The microSD memory card is pressed with a metal frame, which has a positive effect on the fixation reliability.

But such a soldering is neat to call my tongue.

A similar situation is observed with SIM card slots.

In general, the build quality and materials are, again, not bad. The lid does not bend, and the smartphone passes the twisting test better than most of its classmates.

Display

An IPS-matrix with a diagonal of 6.0 "and a resolution of 1280 x 720 is installed, which gives a density of 245 dpi. The manufacturer does not say which safety glass used in the device, there is also no mention of the OGS technology (one glass solution).

In fact, the coating resists fingerprints well and is easy to wipe off, and judging by the reflection, OGS is involved in the production of the display.

Viewing angles are typical for IPS matrices. Color distortion is small.

With diagonal viewing angles, things are worse - you can see that the black color begins to be inverted.

The illumination uniformity is not bad, although you can see the faint glow of the two lamps on the right side of the frame.

On white, you can see a well-defined "tint" and uneven illumination.

The display demonstrates a clearly visible glow effect, which is especially clearly visible against the black field.

The sensor is capable of recognizing up to ten clicks at the same time. There are no complaints about the accuracy of its work.

Color rendering Lenovo S939 display we tested it as usual with the X-Rite ColorMunki Display.

Let's traditionally start with a contrast table:

The maximum brightness level of 530 nits is a good result in this segment. And the contrast ratio is over 1000: 1 - and at all regardless of the price of the smartphone. This is enough to clearly distinguish the image on the display even on a sunny day. At the minimum value of brightness, the contrast remains at a fairly high level.

Gamma curves are close to the reference line, keep its shape and are close to each other - another good result.

But the color temperature, traditionally for the latest smartphone screens, turned out to be noticeably higher than the "standard" 6500K - the image on the display is noticeably "colder".

The color gamut is comparable to the sRGB standard, with a noticeable difference only in the setting of the green channel.

However, the gray wedge points did not even meet the DeltaE boundaries.

Color channels are not perfectly tuned, but at least stable.

Overall, the matrix setup is good. There are no serious "weak points" in it. Only the noticeable glow-effect is a little upsetting, but for me personally - the still cold image.

Software and firmware

Lenovo S939 works under control operating system Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a proprietary interface, the basis of which we are already familiar with from the Vibe series.

The smartphone is equipped with a "smart" update system that works not only on demand, but also integrates messages about available updates into the shell. For example, if there is an update for the camera interface, the New button next to the shutter button will light up. The screenshot shows that the smartphone has found a new update that no one has downloaded (0 people). The program warns about the need to save personal data and starts downloading.

But after rebooting, the smartphone swears in Chinese and refuses to update. When you log in, your eyes start to be annoying again available updates, which cannot be installed "without a tambourine".

And for dessert, the most interesting thing: in the current firmware Lenovo S939 devoid of information about the use of battery power. There is no such item even in the menu. Considering the appetite of an eight-core processor, this looks strange.

As for performance, everything is smooth here, there are no brakes, the stability is good, with the exception of some details, which we will discuss in the next section.

Hardware platform and performance

Lenovo S939 is based on the MTK6592 SoC. The processor was not overclocked, as is the case with Alcatel Idol X +, maximum frequency the work of its cores is 1.67 GHz.

CPU-Z correctly detects processor model and operating frequency.

The decision of the company to put only 1 GB of RAM in such a device looks strange. In a "fresh" smartphone without running programs less than half of the RAM is available, which may well result in the following situation:

Attempting to open a multi-tabbed browser after a short game may crash. In general, when working with a device, you often notice that you have only about 100 MB of RAM left in stock, since the developers have provided memory monitoring when switching applications and quickly clearing it.

However, this does not interfere with running optimized benchmarks:

In general, the results are comparable to those that we saw in the reviews of other smartphones based on MTK6592. Lenovo S939 does not present any surprises in terms of performance, but it also has no problems with it.

And thanks to the not very high screen resolution, Lenovo S939 copes with the absolute majority of even the most difficult games without any problems.

At the same time, surprisingly, the AnTuTu stability test shows an almost perfect result.

The Stability Test utility performed excellently in classic mode. Of course, only half of the cores were loaded, but in Alcatel review Idol X + this did not prevent the eight-core monster from dropping the frequency right up to 845 MHz and heating the case to 49 degrees. In our case, the heating is moderate and does not interfere with the use of the phone in any way.

In the best traditions, immediately after the "warm-up", we will restart the AnTuTu test.

The smartphone "lost" only about 2000 points, which is a very good result. As a result, all attempts to identify the instability of the system were unsuccessful.

Practical tests show the same result - stability does not drop even after an hour of play, and the heating remains within a comfortable level. No "glitches" were noticed.

Eh, there would be another gigabyte of RAM here ...

The stock player does not support all formats. But the performance of the smartphone is enough to cope with any adequate video file.

The smartphone copes well with watching videos on YouTube, full screen mode works fine.

Sound

Lenovo S939 is not positioned by the manufacturer as a device for audiophiles, therefore, highest quality sound is not worth counting.

It was not possible to test the analog audio path in the Right Mark Audio Analyzer: a smartphone with an obvious defect in the AUX connector got into the laboratory. When headphones are connected, instead of music, a hiss is emitted, vaguely reminiscent of the motives of the composition. If you find a "good position", then you can hear what you are looking for, but the sound "floats", failing first the middle, then the upper frequencies, and sometimes it turns off altogether. There is a clear problem with contact. Keeping in mind the quality of the soldering of the SIM slots, I was not too surprised.

The volume of the ringing speaker is enough for you to hear it from the next room. But the quality is not very good, even watching videos through it does not give much pleasure, not to mention listening to music.

Conversational speaker, on the contrary, does not indulge in volume, but with clarity everything is in order. The microphone works fine, none of the interlocutors complained about the poor quality of the transmitted speech. The vibrating alert is average, you can clearly feel it in your jeans pocket, but if you put your smartphone in a jacket or, moreover, in a bag, you can miss the call.

Wireless interfaces and communication

Lenovo S939 works in Wi-Fi networks via a / b / g / n protocols.

The reception stability is good, the data transfer rate through the LAN network "over the air" is above average.

The device has no problems with GPS, a cold start takes less than a minute, and the visibility of satellites is good.

The smartphone does not support NFC or 4G networks.

The device is equipped with one GSM-module, SIM-card settings are standard. In the main settings menu, you can change the ringtone for each. The reception quality is good - during the week of testing, I have never encountered problems where other devices worked normally.

File system

The smartphone has a built-in 8 GB storage.

In fact, initially only half is free - 4 GB. Fortunately, nothing prevents you from expanding the available capacity with a memory card (64GB are supported).

Lenovo S939 supports connection to a PC via MTP, PTP and USB mode.

Data transfer rate on internal memory very good and is limited by the bandwidth of the USB port.

The speed of data transfer to a memory card is, accordingly, in its capabilities.

However, at the same time, surprisingly, the speed of internal storage available to applications is not high. This is especially true of the write speed, which is very noticeable when installing programs.

Battery life

The Lenovo S939 has a removable 3000 mAh battery.

Its corpus is replete with information, although not everyone will be able to read it.

The battery is quite thin and not heavy - I can't even believe in such a capacity.

The supplied charger has an output current of 1.5 A. Full charge cycle from this device takes 2.5 hours.

In AnTuTu Tester, the device scores a good 506 points, which would be a good result even for the MTK6589T quad-core SoCs.

And in real problems, the results were as follows:

Ladies and gentlemen, we have before us one of the first smartphones with an eight-core processor, which is able to quite confidently "live" the day with active use. Well, not in any scenario, of course - surfing the web and, especially, 3D games, it is better not to overuse. But in terms of battery life, the Lenovo S939 is head and shoulders above the Alcatel Idol X + and Zopo ZP998.

Camera

Interface, features and settings

The camera interface in this device is a Lenovo design.

Overall, the main camera does a surprisingly good job in good to medium light conditions. For a mid-range smartphone, this is not a bad result.

Comparison with competitors

In the segment of smartphones with a screen diagonal of about six inches, the choice is already quite large. Let's single out some representatives:

The closest gadget of leading manufacturers in terms of characteristics is the Sony Xperia T2 dual, a review of which will soon appear in our laboratory. He wins not only due to the sonorous name, but also looks more expensive. True, it also costs significantly more.

In terms of performance, it is inferior to the hero of our review, but in terms of battery life, on the contrary, it wins noticeably - thanks to a processor with modest "appetites".

Continuing the list of famous brands, we can recall Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200). This smartphone costs 2,000-2,500 rubles more than the Lenovo S939, but it can boast of pain

Problem solved

Pluses: I don't see anything more worthy for that kind of money (6300 rubles in early September). Lightweight for its size. Disadvantages: As already mentioned here - a phone for geeks. Or for those who have acquaintances who are not afraid to flash their phones (this is not a banal update official firmware"through the air"). Because the phone is only for the domestic market of China, then there are minor problems with the Russian language - it is not there. Good Chinese friends with Ali send firmware with Russian, but it usually leaves much to be desired: in addition to incomplete translation, for example, my camera did not switch from internal to external. Well, and, accordingly, some difficulties with the purchase. Either order in China as usual at your own peril and risk (someone scares me with refurbished phones, for example, the seller instead of regular ears with a flat wire put some terrible crap, albeit with the Lenovo inscription), or overpay here for the opportunity to touch gray phone before buying. The loosely-seated adapter from the Chinese mains plug on charging infuriates a little (it can remain in the socket when pulled out by the main plug), but this is a trifle from the category of headphones that can be replaced. Lack of 900MHz range for 3G. Many tried to change modems, even posted screenshots where the frequency appeared in the list of supported ones, but real work nobody got it. So forget about 900MHz and OTG - this was not announced by the manufacturer, and this is not in the phone. Be careful, in some places the operators may not have the 2100MHz band. Although I personally do not care, I turn off 3G at all. It seemed like it was just once that the touch keys were stuck - they did not react to pressing. I had to calibrate the position sensor. Not to say that it's a trivial thing, you need to do it in service menu in Chinese and be careful so as not to exaggerate. Commentary: What to do, what to do with the firmware? On w3bsit3-dns.com there is a corresponding thread dedicated to this device. There are firmware, and related info / software, and you will find about calibration by searching. Personally, I recommend Mannur's S129 firmware. Before flashing the firmware, you need to flash custom recovery (CWM or TWRP). I recommend doing this through the SP program Flash Tool on a PC (after installing USB drivers for the phone). And only then install the firmware you like through the recovery. The battery is large enough, the device with normal firmware is quite economical. Overnight, 1% leaks, or even less. Those. behaves well in standby mode. But if you play heavy games - three hours. On consumption it is better to read the reviews, I did not test anything on purpose. The screen is, in principle, bright enough not to fade in the sun. Although the angles, of course, cannot be compared with amoled in laptop 3, but the money is also different. Size 6 "is too big for wearing / holding, 5.5 would be a little more comfortable. In addition to holding in hands, there is another moment - in my jeans pocket, but I have it not small, when squatting or bending along the length it already rests on the thigh. I will not say anything if headphones with a straight wire are plugged in. By the way, the squalor sent to me instead of the standard ones was replaced by a Sony MH750 with an L-shaped plug - a very worthy option. But you don't have to choose the size, but it's good for cinema and surfing. internal pockets of outerwear to carry.Phone supports 64GB cards.At least some of them (for example, Silicon Power ELITE microSDXC UHS Class 1.) exFAT is not supported, with FAT32 the recording on the phone turned out to be ~ 4Mb / s, and with NTFS.- legal 10. But to support NTFS, you need to install Paragon NTFS & HFS +. The dilemma crept up imperceptibly - either crutches in the form of a paragon (not always automatically picks up the card), or a very dull speed and file size limitation. quickly stopping tormenting the device for different firmwares, I am certainly pleased with it.

    the price (I managed to take the course for 7.5 tr before the jump) from a local online store -Performance in tests of 30,000 parrots, and in real life everything is fine-the battery lasts an average of 2 days. (3g and Internet (wiber, skype) are always included) - even with a strong moral obsolescence of the device, it is calmly sent to live with a mobile navigator with awesome options)

    Super battery! Cost per hardware, build quality and size!

    I don't see anything more worthy for that kind of money (6,300 rubles at the beginning of September). Lightweight for its size.

    Excellent screen, sound, 8 cores, Lenovo firmware - no glitches and brakes.

    It is convenient to surf the Internet and play games. Excellent as a navigator, thin, normal battery. It is enough for me for a couple of days, or even more. Was cheap.

    Fast -large and bright screen in 6 "(on the street in the sun everything is perfectly visible) -the ability to install large memory cards -fast GPS and 3G -Special goodies from Lenovo, such as a keyboard that shrinks to the left or to the right (depending on with which hand you hold the bodies), answering a call by simply holding the phone to your ear, etc. -Excellent battery and overall charging consumption -The presence of a flash (as anyone, but for me this factor is important) -The presence of slots for 2- x SIM cards

    A nimble 8-core percent with excellent energy saving indicators, all games are running and almost does not heat up, a large bright screen with an oleophobic coating (almost does not get dirty), the assembly is excellent, 2 full-size sim cards, a capacious battery

    Lenovo pleases the attention paid to the development of sound quality in this model. I will say this about the sound quality itself, in the car I was listening only to CDs with the original sound, I could not even think of any mp3s, but the joke, the same mp3s from Lenova via AUX are perceived quite adequately, now new items that I have not yet purchased in Lossless listen to in mp3. When the navigator is turned on, the sound of music via AUX does not drown out the voice of the announcer. There is one moment when the jack is turned on, the volume level becomes 50% and you need to manually raise it to 100%, such is the moment. Size is an advantage, for example, when the navigator is on, also when viewing pages. Smart GPS. I will not write about a powerful processor, this is not a secret for anyone already. The image quality of the display is good. Battery life is good, in terms of duration and hell

    As already mentioned here - a phone for geeks. Or for those who have friends who are not afraid to flash their phones (this is not a banal update of the official firmware "over the air").
Either order in China as usual at your own peril and risk (someone scares me with refurbished phones, for example, the seller instead of regular ears with a flat wire put some creepy crap, albeit with the Lenovo inscription), or overpay here for the opportunity to

    There was no Russian, but the seller helped with russification. OTG not supported.

    On the touchscreen, a strip about 1 cm wide just below the middle of the screen refused. Before that I used about 10 months. I read that some also observe the same problems.

    2 years ago

    Sometimes it automatically reboots (for 4 months of use, it was 2 times)
    -The consequence of the absence of. sales in Russia flaws in Russification (only in the setting menu and very little)
    -Sometimes not enough RAM
    -A little backlash on the top of the phone (sort of like a floating defect)

    2 years ago

    It seems that it is not officially supplied to the Russian Federation yet (there is no proprietary guarantee, support, normal Russification, etc.);
    - Standard firmware Russian-English-Chinese. But you can live;
    - I do not advise updating through the official built-in upgrade. A new version English-Chinese. It will become impossible to use at all!

    Using with pasted protective film not impeccably like, for example, on Samsung note4, they react to the touch of a key, again I did not try without a film, since the large diagonal of the screen has more chances of being damaged.

Lenovo S939- the first eight-core "giant". Every year smartphones are becoming more powerful and larger, both screen diagonals and the number of processor cores are growing. At Lenovo, developers keep up with the times and offer the first among the giants of their brand, an eight-core animal, whose name is: Lenovo IdeaPhone S939. What is hidden under this name? Let's take a closer look.

Equipment

The contents of the box are comparable to those of other Lenovo phone models. It contains the phone itself, a 3000 mAh battery, a microUSB cable, a charger, headphones and documentation.

Specifications

And here everything is much more interesting. So, Lenovo S939 is equipped with the latest MTK6592 Octa Core 1.7GHz eight-core processor, 1 Gb RAM and 8 Gb built-in memory. The phone also supports microSD cards up to 32 Gb. Admittedly, the processor is quite powerful. Below is a comparison of this CPU with Samsung's Exynos Octa 5410 using the Galaxy S4 as an example.

The battery capacity here is 3000 mAh and it is enough for 1.5 days of enhanced or 2-3 days of more or less quiet autonomous work. The thickness of the device's body is 8.66 mm, which is a good enough indicator for a device of this size. The overall dimensions of the device are 159 x 84 x 8.6 mm. The phone has 2 slots for SIM cards, one of which supports GSM / WCDMA modes, and the other only GSM.

The device contains GPS modules, WI-FI and Bluetooth. In a performance test, Antutu Benchmark IdeaPhone S939 scores 28,264 points, which surpasses even one of the modern flagships - Samsung phone Galaxy S4. The operating system is Android 4.2.2.

Screen and sound

The screen of the device has a diagonal of 6 inches and is made on the basis of an IPS matrix. Its resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels, the viewing angles are good and are quite suitable for using a smartphone as a game console, surfing the Internet, watching movies and studying.

The front camera has a 1.3 MP sensor and quite clearly transfers the picture during video calls. The main camera in the Lenovo S939 has an 8 megapixel sensor with autofocus and is capable of taking excellent quality pictures.

Appearance

The appearance of the device is rather conservative. Nothing new this model as its design did not bring. On the front of the device is located Lenovo logo, speaker grill, 6-inch screen with IPS matrix, 1.6 Mp camera, three touch-sensitive navigation buttons, proximity sensors, lighting and a microphone.

The back houses an 8MP camera with flash, microphone, speaker grill and Lenovo logo. The top edge of the phone houses a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the right panel, the volume rocker and the power button are quite conveniently located. Any elements are missing on the left side. At the bottom there is a microUSB connector.

Video: Lenovo S930 review and tests

Outcomes

pros:

  • device power
  • good battery

minuses:

  • mediocre camera
  • lack of FullHD resolution
  • only 1 GB of RAM

The Lenovo S939 phone turned out to be a powerful device and will occupy its niche among the premium class phones, but Lenovo should think about releasing a real flagship with a smaller screen size, not everyone likes 5.5 and 6 inch shovels.
