New Samsung model. Smartphones "Samsung", all models: photos and characteristics

Smartphone samsung galaxy X promises to be truly the most innovative mobile gadget of the coming 2017. And you just can't argue with that!

Manufacturers have already tried everything they have not tried to lure the buyer into the store for another new product, but in fact everything new was offered 2-3 years ago, and little has changed since then.

What do they offer us? A slightly more powerful (10-20 percent) processor, a slightly larger screen (although where the phone can grow beyond the 6-inch “shovel”), another new LTE band (although the old operators have not yet fully implemented).

Or dubious "innovations" like the rejection of removable batteries, memory expansion microSD card and the pursuit of the title of "the thinnest smartphone" (which leads to a decrease in battery capacity and, of course, operating time).

Sometimes it comes to the point of absurdity. Apple is said to want to ditch the 3.5mm jack on the iPhone 7 wired headphones in favor of wireless, but what kind of progress is it if 10 years ago it was possible to connect Bluetooth headset to the phone? Just another "rake" for the consumer, which the company from Cupertino is famous for.

So, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy X opens the era of real innovation in the mobile market. There have been rumors about flexible screens for several years, manufacturers have shown prototypes that never went into production, but finally Samsung wants to take the plunge.

The Galaxy X smartphone from the Korean company will receive not just a flexible screen, it will fold like a book. It will be both a smartphone - in a folded state, and a tablet - in an unfolded state. There will no longer be any need to carry two gadgets with you, which together take up a lot of space.

Samsung is currently working on a new 4K UltraHD flexible matrix for the Galaxy X, and the project to develop a new smartphone is codenamed Project Valley or Project V (this may change in the future).

In general, work on the creation of the Samsung Galaxy X has been underway for several years, but this time the process is nearing completion, and the novelty will be presented next year in 2017. Externally, the device will look like a classic smartphone with a screen diagonal of 5.1 inches and QHD resolution, but it is worth unfolding it ...

Evgeny Kharitonov,

July 4, 2017, 19:45

Huawei and Xiaomi started selling inexpensive flagships in Russia, the best smartphone with big screen costs exactly 20 thousand, OnePlus and ZTE set new speed records, and Samsung for the first time in for a long time released a "state employee", which is not ashamed to buy.

Honor9 - "top model" at the lowest price

We declare the annual ritual of dressing up the flagship and more expensive Huawei P-series into a cheaper and slightly worse Honor 9 closed - Huawei P10 has replaced metal case on glass, lost optical stabilization in the rear camera and turned into Honor 9.

And that's good - we got the most cheap smartphone with the flagship (almost the same level as in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium) with a processor, with high-quality cameras, but without experiments like a display stretched in height or useless voice assistants. And almost "cheating" prices outside of China, and not, for example. A capacious battery, moderate dimensions - what else do you need?

We need gaming performance (not everyone needs it, but now it’s “back to back”, but it will be worse), the same optical stabilization, which combats shaking in videos and makes shots "on the run" clearer. And in July 2017, Honor 9 will not interfere with a more “licked firmware” - now it clearly does not squeeze out everything that hardware is capable of in terms of autonomy and Wi-Fi speed.

XiaomiMi6 - Chinese flagship with Japanese cameras and an American processor

Xiaomi Mi-series are not just another stuffed mobile phones among hundreds of the same ones. This is a guideline for all manufacturers what to call the Chinese flagship smartphone this season and at what price this joy should be sold. Because for many years, Mi-smartphones have been the standard of cool Android flagships at the price of "half an iPhone."

Now OnePlus is earning such a reputation for itself, but when Mi2 “butted” almost on equal terms with LG Nexus 4 and Sony Xperia S, “Oneplus” was not even in the project, and Honor 2 was a budget series of a budget brand (something like Wileyfox in Fly today) and with his HiSilicon K3V2 "buggy" godlessly - it's even scary to remember.

True, if earlier Xiaomi flagships overshadowed all the "Chinese" with a margin and were a real threat to Samsung and Nexus, now Mi 6 no longer "jumps" to the level of Galaxy S8, unfortunately. Simply because Xiaomi prefers to invest some money in experimental models (the frameless Mi Mix, the Mi Note 2 curved display shovel, the huge Mi Max) instead of building one flagship in two sizes, as Samsung does. On the other hand, almost all Samsung Galaxy, except for the S-series and Note, are deadly boredom, and inexpensive Xiaomi are becoming more popular day by day.

So Mi 6… what about Mi 6? Beautiful, heavy, fast, but no longer causes any “wow” (or “wow!” if you are a fighter with foreign vocabulary). Yes, Snapdragon 835 processor (maintenance update), dual camera with bokeh and optical zoom (that is, like everyone else), a capacious battery, which was not bad in Mi 5s either. Only now there is also an amputated headphone jack - long live adapters or purchased headphones for USB-C!

And why the creators of the large-scale "frameless" could not repeat their feat in the flagship? Where is the Quad HD resolution? The camera is no longer exemplary and in night shooting is inferior to the same Huawei P10. No more magic - just a good smartphone for the money. With good speakers, plenty of RAM (and, as always, without a microSD slot), good video stabilization and some kind of water protection (maybe it won’t die if you drop it in the bathroom and immediately get it). Already not the best of the best option for your money, and not such a big step forward that the owners of Mi5s or even Mi 5 get nervous, but for 30 thousand in Russian cell stores it has no competitors, except for Honor 9. So, you can take it as one of the last compact (less than 5.5 inches) flagships in the era of hysteria for frameless “shovels”.

XiaomiMiMax2 is the best big screen smartphone

Today, even the words "phablet" and "tablet phone" are almost out of use - what can we say about Android gadgets at the junction of tablets and smartphones? Giant mobile phones were super-popular in 2013, in the same year Sony released a super-cool dot (at that time) and ... let everyone go, and smartphones with a display larger than 6 inches became a rarity. A few "buckets" of basement production are not taken into account.

After the leading brands "blew away", only the Chinese began to design high-quality shovel phones, and from year to year there were fewer and fewer such models. Of the "giants" of the Celestial Empire, Huawei recently capitulated, which never released it outside of China, and in 2017 did not release a replacement for it. Xiaomi (Mi Max), Xiaomi (Mi Mix), ASUS and Lenovo remained on the scorched earth of tablet phones. Moreover, if Lenovo did not even try to make something more out of Phab 2 than “consumer goods” with a large diagonal, then ASUS and Xiaomi claimed to be something more.

There are few buyers of 6.4-inch mobile phones left, so the second generation of Mi Max is “thank you for being alive.” And the fact that the smartphone has become even better is generally super!

The body is without ugly plastic inserts, the camera is no longer trash, as in LeEco Le2, but already of high quality - do not expect Mi 6 level quality, but the photos will be good - no worse than in Huawei nova or ASUS ZenFone 3 at least. Endurance, loud speakers - everything is available. A good mobile cinema is obtained. True, the change “sewed on soap”, that is, Snapdragon 652 to 625, raises questions, but Xiaomi really does not want the fashion Mi Mix to make a budget competitor, so this is the only Big Mac!

Even if the conscience of the Russian representative office hadn’t jumped after “seemingly counterfeit” models at customs, and if a high price had been turned down for Mi Max 2, it would still have no competitors – ZenFone 3 Ultra is not as much better as it is more expensive , and Lenovo Phab 2 Plus is technically simpler at the same price. And for 20 thousand in official retail, Mi Max 2 is wonderful - just remember that the same money is asked for a certified 32 GB version of Meizu M5 Note, and feel the difference.

One Plus5 - record-breaking "Chinese"

"Quantity does not turn into quality," manufacturers of mobile phones from the Celestial Empire proved to us. When the flagships of Xiaomi, Meizu and Huawei began to spill out of China, the crowd of “predictors” began vying to say that soon “ Chinese smartphones take over the world" and that "there are brands that are just as cool and even cheaper."

Brands were found, but the quality somehow did not work out. For example, Doogee, UMI (now UMIDIGI) and Elephone have been releasing bungee-designed models for years that overheat, “hiccup” even with powerful processors, hold a charge poorly and upset with a low display brightness. And where, where is the growth “from rags to riches” among new Chinese manufacturers? Where are the armies of "Samsung killers"?

And it would be fine, it was about newcomers and other handicrafts - even Lenovo several times in, and then they realized that "" and transferred the development of smartphones to Motorola engineers.

So, OnePlus against this background is different in that this manufacturer immediately, from the very first model, began to produce high-quality flagships, to which its communist compatriots have been going for years. In 2016, the OnePlus 3 was the best of the best in terms of value for money.

Will OnePlus 5 (the Chinese are afraid of the number "4" like fire and "jump over" it) become the best smartphone of the year? It is unlikely. On the one hand, OdinPlus is still the same - in its ideology, it looks like a tiny car with an extremely powerful engine inside. Most fast processor(Exynos 8895 is faster, but Samsung doesn't sell it to anyone), spare RAM "for the future", "empty" Android without frills, the coolest rear camera you could buy.

But even iPhone owners are already sick of the design of the iPhone, not to mention OnePlus enthusiasts who are not close to Apple concepts. Optical stabilization in the camera was “lost” (and it was in OnePlus 3), the battery was again measured back to back, there is no water protection, there is no framelessness, there are no stereo speakers, there is no cool sound in the headphones.

And 30 thousand rubles “at the minimum wage” is not painfully cheap for a “Chinese”, but, on the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 6 will seem too tiny to someone, and there is no other equally affordable and fast flagship on sale. Let's hope that at least the quality of the OnePlus 5 camera will be sensationally cool, because "races in benchmarks" by themselves almost no one cares.

SamsungGalaxyJ7 (2017) - the only budget Samsung, which is not ashamed

Every morning, a homeless person walks around the carriages of the suburban train and sings patriotic songs by Oleg Gazmanov. Sings, I must say, disgusting, smells even worse. But a lot of people throw money at him, because "the guy is good-natured, unlucky in life, we live in Russia - you can’t promise!" No one asks questions about how the guy managed to come to such a life, and whether the money of passengers will help him live differently.

Budget Samsung models very similar to this tramp - they look just as strange, they also “play badly” and ask for large sums, because “well, I’m Samsung, get into position!”. And, by analogy with the singer in the train, such smartphones resonate in the hearts of compatriots, to the horror of everyone who uses much cooler Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei for the same money.

Because even on the "white" market Galaxy J5 (2017) worth 18 thousand rubles in terms of price and quality "be et ”higher-quality Honor 6C, which is also 4 thousand cheaper. And at the price of Galaxy J3 (2017), even official greedy suppliers can take either the beautiful Meizu U10 or the lighter and more durable Xiaomi Redmi 4A Pro with 32 GB on board.

But from the J7 2016 and 2017 model years, there is still some use - these are quite nimble mid-sized mobile phones with excellent autonomy. The AMOLED display, whatever one may say, consumes less energy than budget IPS matrices, the processor is not fast (worse than Snapdragon 625), but it eats very little, and 3600 mAh in this configuration gives much more autonomy than in your Redmi Note “stoves” 4, for example.

It’s a pity that the removable battery is a thing of the past, but separate honest slots for two SIM + microSD are in place, with 3 GB of RAM with a Samsung shell you can already “live”, and the metal case does not look as dreary as the plastic in the old J- series. The smartphone, of course, turned out to be 5 thousand more expensive than it should be, but it will fit in the role of a long-lived reliable clumsy “barge”. And for a large part of the buyers, this is enough.

ZTENubiaZ17 - flagship that charges 50% in half an hour

While most manufacturers are drowning in self-quoting (let's not point fingers at ASUS ZenFone, monotonous Meizu and Xiaomi Redmi 3/3S/4/4X "clones"), ZTE releases different, unrecognizably different mobile phones under one "roof". Most of them, of course, are “consumer goods” that are dubious in many respects - such ZTE models were carefully marked with the Blade suffix (only the Blade V8 is worthy of attention from the entire series). But stand-alone and child Nubia are completely different and very interesting smartphones.

It cannot be said that Nubia overshadows the notorious Xiaomi Mi-series or new Huawei / Honor models, but the fact that all ZTE daughter smartphones are completely original (not a parody of an iPhone, and not “tuned” ZTE Blade) models with good performance.

After the “space” frameless flagships, the Nubia Z17 is no longer so impressive, but the smartphone is very beautiful, fast in processor tasks and charging from the outlet - Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, after all. Unfortunately, there are not enough stars from the sky in photo and video shooting, it lacks a headphone jack and is still expensive. But it’s definitely worth taking a closer look - not so many flagships came out in 2017 that were fast and of high quality in small things.

Samsung will be one of the few TV manufacturers in 2017 not to offer OLED models. Instead of this, the company will rebrand its "QLED" LCD technology with the Q9, Q8 and Q7 models. Samsung says that these models focus on image quality, smart technology and design.

Features of the line for 2017

Samsung will be dividing its 2017 TV lineup into two sections: premium "QLED" and a broader section of "LED" models.

This designation of TVs does not really matter, because all models are based on traditional LCD screen technology.

Samsung explains that they have chosen to rebrand "QLED" TVs because the changes will be significant. For the first time everyone saw Q9 and Q8 on January 2017.

While Samsung uses edge LED lighting on all of its high-end TVs, the Q models will be some of the brightest on the market in 2017.

Q models achieve 100% DCI-P3 color gamut at up to 2000 nits

Samsung has also advertised something called "color volume", saying that TVs can reproduce "100% DCI-P3 color volume". This statement means that the displays, at least according to the specified characteristics, must be able to reproduce the colors contained in the DCI-P3 color gamut at all brightness levels up to 1500 nits (for Q7 and Q8 models) or 2000 nits (for Q9).

4K Ultra HD resolution will be in 2017 in most models up to all TV receivers of the 6 series. All 4K models have support for HDR formats.

Samsung has decided to support two HDR formats for now, namely HDR10+ and HLG. HDR10+ is a continuation of the open standard HDR10, now with dynamic metadata for image enhancement based on brightness adjustment based on previous scene data, or this technique is also called frame by frame. As long as there is one partner providing content in HDR format 10+, that's Amazon Prime Video.

Many Samsung competitors want to develop proprietary Dolby Vision technology, but Samsung wants an open standard, which is HDR10+. It will be included in 2017 models and will ship with a firmware update in 2016 models.

Samsung also highlights that it has improved the anti-glare filter in the Q models, as well as improved image processing, which allows for HDR video processing. graduated in the higher peak brightness range.

Another big focus for Samsung in 2017 is design. The company will continue to develop curved screens, but this year's flagship Q9 will have a flat display. The last two years, the flagship model has been with a curved screen. The Q8 still has a curved shape, while the Q7 comes in two versions with both a curved and a flat display.

The company will also launch a new TV receiver called "The Frame" (frame). As the name suggests, this model looks like a picture frame on the wall and can display over 100 memorized pictures when the TV is not working. This is a premium TV for those who want something new and different. But it doesn't have quantum dot technology like model Q.

Samsung "The Frame"

Samsung has equipped its Q models with an external One Connect box.

This module is not updated as it used to be, but with its help it is easy to hide all external ports, cables and connections. Q models connect to this module with a single thin fiber optic cable.

Samsung has also made sure the TVs look elegant from the back, and they'll offer a variety of mounting options, including one without a wall-mount gap that ensures the flagship Q9 hangs flush against the wall.

The third key piece of focus for Samsung in 2017 is "Smart". The company is optimizing its Tizen operating system and introducing several new features and applications. It's not a major update, but after the company introduced a remote in 2016 to control all devices connected to the TV, as well as a new bottom menu, it seems that Samsung has found a direction for Smart TV that suits it.

It should be noted that Tizen updates for 2017 will not be available on 2016 and 2015 models. This year, the list of devices supported by the One Remote will be expanded, when the TV remote can control all connected devices. New applications will be included Smart TVs depending on the region of sale. The Q models will have a new remote control and many of the TVs in Europe will have two tuners for recording programs.

There will be a new application in the 2017 lineup " smart view". It allows you to control your TV from your smartphone or tablet, and even extend some of the functions of the TV receiver to mobile device. These features are provided free of charge and over time the list of features will only expand.

TVs will be with features that were still in the models of past years. These are DLNA connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB ports. Models high class equipped with 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports, while mid-range models have 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports.

In 2017 models Samsung TVs high-end products have the letter "Q" in their name, which stands for "QLED". All other LCD models have the letter "M" in their name.

Recall the designation of Samsung TVs over the past few years:

  • MU/M/Q=2017,
  • KS/KU=2016,
  • JS/JU=2015,
  • HU/H=2014,
  • F=2013.
