Since the release new Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), many of you are very interested in this smartphone. South Korean manufacturer seduced us again with his new model... The competition is fierce today, however, and the Galaxy A5 has to do a lot to match the Honor 8, one of the best-selling smartphones of our day. Which of these two devices can we recommend for you? You will find the answer to this question in our comparative review.

Both smartphones are quite successful in terms of appearance... Of course, it leaves a lot to be desired when compared to premium smartphones. The device from Samsung has adopted a lot of features from the design Galaxy models S7. That's not bad, as this flagship looks attractive and feels very good in the hand.

Galaxy A5 2017 has an aluminum case covered with protective glass 3D format. This smartphone is slightly different from the S7 due to its thin edges at the top and bottom. A small but pleasant moment, which will certainly delight fans of mobile games, is the presence of a loud speaker, which is now located on the right, not the left side.

In terms of design, Honor 8 has its own geometry of the metal and glass body, which creates a cool effect (similar to the appearance of the Sapphire Blue version). The improvements over the Honor 7 are quite obvious, be it in the quality of the material or the finish. This smartphone fits perfectly into the palm of your hand thanks to the rounded corners. Like the Galaxy A5 (2017), the Chinese device is very sensitive to fingerprints.

The only difference in design between the heroes of our review is the location of the fingerprint scanner. In the Korean device, it is built into the physical Home key, which is located at the bottom of the front panel, while its competitor from the Middle Kingdom has this scanner on the back of the device. Personally, we prefer the Honor 8's version as its scanner is faster and more efficient.

Display

The display area also has a lot in common. Both of our competitors have 5.2-inch displays. Note that these smartphones have not only the same HD screen resolution, but also pixel density (424 ppi). The only difference is the display technology used by the manufacturers. Not surprisingly, Samsung has opted for a Super AMOLED display for the Galaxy A5 (2017), while the Honor 8 has an LCD display. In both cases, satisfactory results are achieved. Color rendition is quite good, the same can be said for image clarity. However, if you take a close look at both of these displays, you can see that the Korean smartphone has a slight edge. Samsung is using AMOLED on-screen technology and you can see it right away. With this technology, the screen looks brighter and the blacks are richer. In addition, the Galaxy A5 (2017) has an Always On mode, which was first introduced in the Galay S7. This feature displays the date, time and battery level from the lock screen.

Software

Samsung and Honor also have something in common in terms of software: their interfaces - TouchWiz and EMUI - share a similar experience that stock Android has to offer. Another similarity is the amount preinstalled apps(games, social networks, etc.) present inside the heroes of our review. As we know, both manufacturers like to modify the interfaces of their devices. EMUI is similar to iOS, and TouchWiz is dominated by a blue tint.

Over the past few years, Korean and Chinese manufacturers have made efforts to improve their interfaces. The proof of this is the last Android update Nougat, which became available for Honor 8. The notification system has been changed, plus, by default, the application bar is available.

In general, one of the biggest advantages of the Chinese device is the upgrade to the Nougat version. As for its competitor from Samsung, the company has confirmed there is an update for it, although users will have to wait for a while.

Performance

In this category, Honor 8 takes a leading position. In this case, we see the difference between our charges. The Chinese device can be considered almost like a flagship that can compete with the best devices the OnePlus 3T or the Galaxy S7, for example, while the Galaxy A5 (2017) is a typical mid-range model, you shouldn't expect a technological miracle from it that will revolutionize the benchmark results.

Inside the Korean smartphone is an 8-core Exynos 7880 processor, manufactured using 14nm technology, coupled with Cortex-A53 cores. maximum clock frequency which is 1.9 GHz. The amount of RAM is 3 GB. On the other hand, the "heart" of Honor 8 is the more powerful 8-core Kirin 950 processor (4 Cortex-A72 cores at 2.3 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8 GHz). All this is supported by 4 GB RAM memory.

In general, the performance of both smartphones is quite acceptable. We've never had any problems with them, but Samsung's device isn't quite as fast as its Chinese competitor. Gamers or multitaskers may prefer the Honor 8.

Camera

The Honor 8 has a 12-megapixel dual camera, with one of the sensors working exclusively in black and white. The Galaxy A5 (2017) boasts a 16MP camera and f / 1.9 lens aperture. As we know, the number of pixels is not directly proportional to the quality of the images, and despite the difference in pixels, smartphone cameras are not very different from each other.

To be honest, the camera of the Korean device turned out to be slightly better than that of the device from the Middle Kingdom, especially in conditions with poor illumination and when comparing the noise level. Nevertheless, both considered devices are quite good for their price segment... Focusing is fast (although not as fast as the Galaxy S7) and the photo quality is in a solid four.

If we talk about the front camera, then the quality of the pictures is higher for the device from Samsung, taking into account the 16MP sensor. And although both sensors have the same resolution, rear camera makes photos of slightly better quality.

Battery

Similar to its predecessor, the A5 (2017) is still good in terms of battery life. The capacity of 3000 mAh (100 mAh more than the previous version) was quite enough for the smartphone to work for two days with moderate use. As with the Honor 8, there is fast charging, thanks to which the device can be fully charged in 1 hour and 40 minutes. In principle, the Chinese device is not so bad in this area, but still its competitor looks better. In other words, if you need a long-playing device, then make your choice in favor of the Galaxy A5 (2017).

Conclusion

In our opinion, it is very difficult to single out one of the heroes of our review. Both are good in their own way and can satisfy most of the needs of the average user. Each of the considered devices has its own strengths... The Korean smartphone has almost the same beautiful design as the Galaxy S7, a powerful battery with decent battery life and IP68 certification. On the other hand, Honor 8 has stylish looks and better performance for everyday use. It's also more affordable at $ 399, compared to $ 500 for the A5 (2017).

What do you think of these two smartphones? Which one would you decide to purchase?

We tested the Honor 9, the flagship smartphone from Huawei's Honor brand. For the price of half the Korean or American "flagship", the Honor 9 offers top-of-the-line specs and a stylish, albeit not entirely original, design. In that detailed review Let's find out what Honor 9 gives to a user willing to pay 27,000 rubles for a new product.

Recall that Honor is such a "Huawei, but cheaper", for the young and strong in spirit, the brand's slogan is "For the brave". Does this mean that the user Honor smartphones must have some kind of exceptional resistance to stress? The manufacturer does not provide an answer. In China, they believe that smartphones worthy of bearing the name of the company itself - Huawei - should cost more. The price increase is justified by "expensive" marketing, more solid design and the attraction of "wedding generals" to prove the uniqueness of the devices, such as the manufacturer of ultra-expensive cameras Leica or the Pantone Color Institute. Understand correctly, the flagship P10 (and especially the slightly less compact P10 Plus) are also great smartphones at a price significantly lower than those of the market leaders of similar capabilities. But the inside of the Honor 9 is the same, the flagship. And the price is just excellent, at the level of the iPhone of the year before last.

Honor 9 review: design and usability

The design did not disappoint either. Although the Honor 9 resembles last year's Samsung Galaxy S7 with a combination of a rounded metal frame and a curved glass back (), the glass itself (according to unofficial information, this is Gorilla Glass 3) is technologically very clever (15-layer optical coating, whatever that means ) and shimmers unusually in the light. In general, lovers of everything that is shiny, striking and loudly declaring itself, but at the same time not too expensive, will not be easy to refrain from buying.

Is the device convenient? For a smartphone with a 5.15-inch display with a 16: 9 aspect ratio - certainly, although LG, for example, fit a "tall" 5.7-inch display into the body of the flagship G6 () of about the same width. And the frames are not that very narrow, they are normal, they are (at least visually) more invisible in Huawei P10.

But the main problem of the Honor 9's ergonomics is the smartphone's unwillingness to maintain steady contact with the owner's hands: the glass-metal beauty of the Honor 9 turned out to be very elusive. Since the edges of the rear panel are curved, and there is no camera protrusion, the device also slides off any not perfectly flat surface, trying to fall to the floor. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not neglect the supplied plastic transparent case. The case is not a masterpiece, from a series of "cheap and cheerful", but it will allow the smartphone to last a couple of weeks safe and sound, while AliExpress will deliver your order with something more elegant.

But an optionally activated control scheme in the settings (see screenshots above), in which for the commands "back", " running applications"and" on the home screen "only one pad of the fingerprint scanner is applied - from my point of view, it is very convenient. Of course, this is a matter of habit, but at least I managed to retrain almost immediately. It seems to me, to return to the previous screen by touching the fingerprint scanner , and on home - with a long press, and easier and faster than pressing the touch pads to the right and left of the scanner. It takes a little longer to get used to the horizontal swipe across the scanner area, causing a vertical "carousel" of open applications - but how often do you do calling her?

Honor 9 review: screen, camera, sound

5.15 inches is the optimal display diagonal for those who are primarily concerned with the convenience of one-handed use. Revolutionary innovations were not noticed in the screen - just a very bright, maintaining image quality even in direct sunlight, IPS-matrix with rational Full resolution HD. There is little sense in a Quad HD screen with such a diagonal: for the human eye, that 428 dpi, that 577 are all the same, individual pixels cannot be made out.

The deep blacks inherent in OLED screens are not on the Honor 9's screen, but the oversaturation of colors characteristic of organic panels has been achieved due to the factory settings of the image. Unfortunately for lovers of "true" color reproduction, the saturation adjustment is not provided in the settings. You can only adjust the color temperature, as well as activate the mode of warm colors, which conserves eyesight and reduces the likelihood of disruption of sleep cycles due to the blue glow of the screen. It is impossible to bind the automatic activation of "eye protection" to sunsets and sunrises, as, for example, in iOS - only to a specific time. Since we are still facing a smartphone that costs almost half the size of flagships, it would be strange to expect HDR support and the widest color gamut from the screen.

How does Honor 9 shoot? It shoots perfectly: the system of two cameras (color + monochrome) is the same as used in Huawei P10, as a result, the quality of most of the photographs taken "on the machine" is not inferior Apple flagships or Samsung. At the same time, as in the flagships of the Korean company, the image processing algorithms in Honor 9, in my opinion, too actively increase the sharpness of the image. But the effect is noticeable only if you look at the photo on the PC screen.

The color dual camera module with a 12MP sensor and f / 2.2 aperture is paired with 20MP black and white. The first is responsible for colors, while the second is able to capture more light and detail. Two images are combined programmatically, and at the output we have a picture with almost always perfect white balance, as well as high definition, even when using emulation of a 2x zoom.

Selecting a focus point and adjusting the depth of field of an already taken picture

Honor 9 also knows how to "pretend to be a DSLR" - a system of two cameras approximately fixes the distance to objects in the frame, distinguishing between the foreground and background. This not only allows you to take pictures with a beautifully blurred background, like a "portrait" lens, but also to choose the focus point, as well as the degree of background blur, after the photo is taken. Like its competitors, Huawei's bokeh simulation system does not always work perfectly, mistakenly assigning parts of the foreground to the background and vice versa. The less homogeneous the background and the closer the subject to it, the more such errors.

From a technical point of view, the main drawback of the main camera of Honor 9 is the lack of optical stabilization... It is this, as well as the lack of laser autofocus in addition to phase detection, that distinguishes Honor camera 9 from the camera of the Chinese company's flagship, Huawei P10 (). In order to get sharp pictures taken in low light, you will have to try to keep your smartphone as still as possible. Well, videos taken on the go will be more "jerky" without optical stabilization. In any case, you will not find even a remotely comparable quality of shooting in any smartphone cheaper than 30 thousand rubles.

The front camera is 8-megapixel without autofocus - it shoots decently, but nothing outstanding. Rather, attention is drawn to the various options for tuning your own appearance: down with acne and wrinkles, give a glossy "Photoshop victim" bow to every home!

A few more words about sound. They did not abandon the 3.5 mm jack in Honor 9 and even equipped the smartphone with a software solution that adjusts the sound for the specific type of headphones used. Another feature of the Huawei Histen audio effects function is to position the sound in space, choosing the type of sound depending on the sounding material - "close", "frontal" or "surround". There is also an equalizer with presets.

Honor 9 review: performance and interface

The Honor 9 is powered by the same HiSilicon Kirin 960 system-on-a-chip found in the P10 and P10 Plus, which debuted late last year in the premium phablet Huawei Mate 9. It is composed of four 2.4GHz Cortex-A73 cores - the most powerful of those offered for licensing by their developer, the British ARM, four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 (1.8 GHz), the ARM Mali-G71 MP8 graphics subsystem, and is manufactured using a 16-nanometer process technology.

To put it simply, this is a very powerful hardware, inferior to the chips in the iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy S8 by only a few percent of the performance. But in terms of energy efficiency, compete with the 10-nm process technology Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Kirin 960, alas, cannot. This is noticeable, for example, in games - the body of the smartphone heats up quite a lot. At the same time, the proprietary EMUI interface, despite some controversial visual solutions in the spirit of "iOS before it was made flat", is fast and responsive.

Whether a smartphone needs 6 GB of RAM is an open question, the version we tested with 4 GB of "RAM" had no problems even after launching a large number of applications. During a media briefing after the European launch of the Honor 9, I asked the head of the Honor brand, George Zhao, about the feasibility of using 6GB of memory in modern smartphone... According to him, although software Huawei is optimized to run smoothly on any memory configuration, the 6GB model will allow users to run more demanding applications at the same time.

Nevertheless, I tend to think that marketing is behind this engineering decision: Honor expects to attract users who are willing to pay more in order to feel superior to the owners of 4GB models. I believe that Huawei should, having finished with half measures, for the sake of this very category of users, start writing the amount of RAM and internal memory on the back panel (and maybe on the front too) with large and well-visible surrounding gold icons.

These are the results Honor 9 demonstrates in popular applications that test computing and graphics performance:

The 3200 mAh battery will allow Honor 9 even with active use to calmly live through the night without intermediate recharging. But the device does not set any records of autonomy: the task of discharging it by lunchtime, playing games or using navigation with the brightness turned to maximum is quite feasible.

The EMUI interface in its current version causes less rejection than before - everything is pretty neat and thoughtful. But, apparently, my adherence to "pure" Android and the visual concept of Material Design, in which there is no place for Huawei's so beloved pseudo-volumetric app icons, like candy canes, will not be fixed by anything. I don’t understand why directly borrow interface elements from iOS (see the switch on the volume level indicator below), but the Chinese companies still seem to be firmly convinced that Apple cannot be wrong. Well, at least the user is allowed to choose whether he wants to use the application menu, familiar to Android, or turn it off and place all the icons installed programs on home screens.

Honor 9 review: conclusions

Honor 9 is not easy beautiful phone with all the capabilities of a modern flagship, this is a beautiful phone with all the capabilities of a modern flagship at a great price. You can, of course, long and meticulously compare it with competitors from China like Xiaomi Mi6 and OnePlus 5, or from among the cheaper last year's flagships like Samsung Galaxy S7. But at a price lower than these devices, the smartphone of the "youth" sub-brand Huawei offers an excellent camera (definitely the best among the "Chinese"), no less speed and stylish design. Having a budget of 25-30 thousand rubles and not suffering from "apple" addiction, it is very difficult to find arguments in favor of acquiring some other device.

Let's summarize Honor review 9.

Pros:

  • Beautiful design
  • Flagship performance
  • Excellent 2x zoom camera with no loss in quality
  • Bright screen

Minuses:

  • Soiled and slippery body
  • Warms up noticeably under load
  • The camera lacks the optical stabilization present in the P10

Huawei / Huawei is a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer. At the end of 2017, Huawei accounted for 9.6% of smartphone sales in the world, it was second only to Samsung (22.8%) and Apple (15.3%). Considering that the share of Huawei in the global market is constantly growing, and Apple's share is gradually decreasing, it can be predicted that in the coming years Huawei will bypass the apple company in sales and come into second place in the world. Unlike many Chinese brands that have relied on budget models, Huawei is not afraid to compete with Apple and Samsung in the premium segment. To increase the appeal of its brand, Huawei has partnered with already established Western companies: Google (co-released by the Nexus 6P), Leica (cameras for flagship models), GoPro (exclusive mobile app Quik for fast video editing).

The following review will help you choose the best Huawei model for buying in 2018 best smartphones from Chinese brand... The top 10 is based on reviews in Yandex-Market, technical specifications and the ratio "price-quality".

The battery capacity is 3090 mAh. 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 MSM8939v2 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The 13-megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash functions as both the main and the front one due to the fact that it is installed in a folding module that can be moved from the back to the front. This makes Huawei ShotX one of the best selfie phones in the world. the front camera on most smartphones is of much worse quality than the main one, and does not have flash and autofocus.

The resulting data is then programmatically combined and written to the resulting files. Huawei emphasizes that the famous German company for the production of Leica cameras took part in the creation of the camera (for example, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev uses the Leica camera). The front camera received an 8 megapixel sensor.

5th place. Huawei Mate 8 32Gb is the most popular Huawei phone in China
The average price in Russia is 33,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Mate 8 32Gb on AliExpress for 20.5 thousand rubles. This tablet is currently the model with the most big screen from Huawei, as well as the most popular Huawei model in China in 2017 (data from antutu.com). The model has scored 72% of the top fives in the Yandex-Market reviews. There is a fingerprint scanner.

Mate 8 is the best Huawei in terms of various parameters, including the price: it is the most expensive, which prevents it from claiming the first place in terms of price-quality ratio.

4th place. Honor 6X 32Gb
The average price in Russia is 14,900 rubles. You can buy Honor 6X 32Gb on AliExpress for 10.4 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The novelty of the most popular Honor family appeared in Russia in January 2018 and today has gained 59% of the top fives according to reviews in Yandex-Market. Specifications: 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of constant (23.40 GB available to the user) and 3 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for a second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card ... The battery capacity is 3340 mAh. However, the phone is powered by the latest HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor, so the Honor 6X can last longer on a single charge than many competitors with comparable battery capacity. The manufacturer promised up to 11.5 hours autonomous work when watching a video, up to 70 hours of listening to music, up to 8 hours of games. There is a fingerprint scanner. New fingerprint features let you browse photos (just swipe left or right), turn off alarms (press and hold the scanner), take selfies, or make one-touch calls.

Metal body with glass curved to the edges. Eye protection mode reduces harmful UV radiation from the screen, preventing eye fatigue.

The main thing that attracts attention in the Honor 6X is the dual main camera. Huawei was the first to equip its flagships with a dual camera, last year the 7th iPhone took over the baton, but from the mid-price segment, only Xiaomi Redmi Pro can boast of a dual camera. Going back to the Honor 6X, we see that the top sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX386 with phase detection autofocus and LED flash, focusing speed of just 0.3 seconds. This sensor also features an increased photosensitive pixel size of up to 1.25 nm with the Prim ISP single pixel isolation technology. This results in surprisingly little color noise and very natural color reproduction. The bottom monochrome sensor has 2 megapixels. At first glance, this is very little. Even Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a 5 megapixel auxiliary module, not to mention the flagship Honor 8, where the second module has the same resolution as the first - 12 megapixels. However, Huawei explains that 2 megapixels of the lower sensor is quite enough. its task is to capture as much light as possible, since monochrome matrices are much more sensitive than color ones. The camera combines the light from the lower sensor with the color of the upper one and produces very high quality photos even in low light conditions. Moreover, thanks to dual camera Honor 6X can do what the creators of the 7th iPhone boasted - bokeh (i.e. the ability to beautifully blur the background in the photo). There is one more interesting function- Selective color fill allows you to add color accents to black and white photos.

The 8MP front camera is equipped with a 77 ° wide-angle lens and a Prim image processor. There is a function of identifying faces. Without autofocus, while, according to reviews, she takes a selfie of very high quality.

3rd place. Honor 8 Pro 6GB / 64GB
The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Honor 8 Pro 64Gb on AliExpress for 27.2 thousand rubles (shipping to Russia is free). When buying in China, you should pay attention to the different model names in different markets: in China it is the Honor V9, and in Russia and Europe, the same model is sold as the Honor 8 Pro.

The new flagship of the Huawei sub-brand went on sale in April 2018. To date, the model has scored 57% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market.

Specifications of the model: 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 6 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, a slot for a second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card up to 128 GB. Battery capacity 4000 mAh. The battery life is 16 hours of talk time, 3 hours 15 minutes of games, 6 hours 45 minutes of video viewing, 453 hours of standby time. As we can see, despite the impressive battery capacity, the huge screen plays a role, discharging much faster than with standard screen sizes. So this smartphone cannot be called a long-playing one. Self-developed eight-core Kirin 960 processor with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. Fingerprint scanner on the back.

Unlike the Huawei P9 or Huawei P10, the flagship of the Honor family does not have the Leica logo, but also uses a combination of two sensors: monochrome, which captures light information, and color RGB. Color resolution is 12 megapixels, monochrome is also 12 megapixels. Dual LED flash, laser focusing and phase comparison focusing. Aperture f / 2.2. The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor.

In June 2018, the hi-tech.mail.ru portal conducted comparative test cameras of 7 flagship smartphones of 2018, as well as a professional SLR Canon camera 5D Mark II. According to the results of blind tests (when people do not know what device the picture was taken and vote for the photo they like), Honor 8 Pro won, it outstripped the runner-up Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Next came the LG G6, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, Canon 5D Mark II DSLR, HTC U11, and Xiaomi Mi 6 came in last. The hi-tech.mail.ru editors put the Honor 8 Pro camera in second place (which it shared with HTC U11 and LG G6), first giving back to the flagship of Samsung. Such an impressive result of the Honor 8 Pro suggests that amateurs mobile photography you can take this model without hesitation. And not only to them, tk. as much as 6 GB of RAM and new processor guarantee excellent performance that will come in handy for fans of heavy mobile games.

2nd place. Huawei P10 64Gb - Huawei smartphone with the best reviews
The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei P10 64Gb on AliExpress for 30.3 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). P10 - new flagship Huawei presented at the Mobile World Congress in late February 2018. To date, the model has scored 80% of the fives in reviews in the Yandex-Market (see reviews on Huawei P10), this is the best indicator in the Huawei smartphone catalog.

Specifications of the model: 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with the slot for a memory card. Battery 3200 mAh. Self-developed eight-core Kirin 960 processor with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. The fingerprint scanner is built into a slightly recessed body touch button on the front panel. The Huawei P10 is made from a single piece of aluminum.

Cameras on smartphones of the leading Chinese manufacturer Huawei are developing by leaps and bounds: in 2016, the company introduced the world's first smartphone with two main cameras (now this technique is used by Apple and other manufacturers), in 2017, Huawei began cooperation with the famous German camera company Leica ( For example, the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev uses a Leica camera worth 5 million rubles), and in 2018 Huawei did everything to make the cameras on their smartphones the best in the world, namely, connected Leica not only to work on the dual module of the main cameras, but also to work on the front camera. But that's not all: starting with the P10, Huawei has partnered with the iconic American manufacturer of GoPro video cameras. As part of the collaboration, GoPro will release an exclusive Quik mobile app for Huawei P10 for fast video processing. The video editor will be embedded in the standard gallery of the EMUI shell. The essence of the Quik app is to combine photos and videos with music in the background to create a beautiful memorable video. It is worth noting that GoPro has not previously released applications for either Android or iOS.

What happened in the end? The Huawei P10 uses a combination of two f / 2.2 aperture sensors: monochrome, which captures light information, and color RGB. Color resolution is 12 megapixels, and monochrome - 20 megapixels. This combination provides the following benefits: camera huawei The P10 has a 2x lossless zoom, and it also allows you to take pictures with a blurred background - the so-called bokeh effect. There is a special mode, developed by Leica specialists, in which you can take high-quality portrait photos using the monochrome sensor. Leica and Huawei have collaborated on the P10's front-facing camera with an 8MP sensor, which makes selfies twice as light and with a wider dynamic range even in low light conditions.

The Huawei P10 camera received 87 points on the Dxomark resource, which is 3 points less than the leader HTC U11 and took 7th place. At the same time, in a blind test of hi-tech.mail.ru in April 2018, the Huawei P10 camera took first place, beating models that scored more points in Dxomark, for example, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel. The editorial staff of hi-tech.mail.ru commented on the choice of readers as follows: "The majority appreciated the bright and contrasting pictures, not paying attention to the details" and put Huawei P10 in 4th place after Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 (however, the difference Huawei P10 and LG G6 only got one point).

1st place. Honor 8 32Gb
The average price in Russia is 20,600 rubles. You can buy Honor 8 64Gb on AliExpress for 13.8 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The flagship of the Honor family went on sale in China at the end of July, and in Russia at the end of August 2017, and today it has scored 78% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. In just over 2 months of the third quarter of 2017, Honor 8 entered the top eight popular smartphones in China and ranked second among the entire catalog of Huawei models (after Huawei P9).

Technical characteristics of the model: 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of permanent and as much as 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with the slot for the memory card. The 3000 mAh battery and Smart Power 4.0 energy saving technology provide up to 1.77 days of operation during normal use and up to 1.22 days during intensive use. For example, on the Honor 8, you'll be able to watch online videos for 11 hours straight. 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The model has a dual main camera with laser autofocus, which received two 12-megapixel Sony IMX286 sensors (like the Huawei P9), color and monochrome. The camera allows you to change the focus point after shooting. Professional mode offers a full range of shooting settings, just like in a DSLR. The front camera received an 8 megapixel sensor.

The design of the smartphone should be noted separately. Without a doubt, this is the most beautiful smartphone Huawei: The front and back sides use 2.5D mirrored glass, the sides are made of metal, and there are also several bright colors.

Honor 8 is slightly inferior to the new flagships Honor 8 Pro and Huawei P10 in terms of technical characteristics, however, its cost is one and a half to two times (depending on whether you buy a model in Russia or China), therefore, in terms of price-quality ratio, Honor 8 remains the best in the Huawei phone directory. However, the upcoming start of sales of Honor 9 in July 2018 may make a difference.
