Huawei P10 Lite design

Huawei P10 Lite is attractive smartphone, which adheres to the traditional philosophy of this manufacturer. Despite this, in the line of devices, it looks somewhat alien, rather reminiscent of last year.
It is an elegant smartphone with rounded corners, glass and a metal frame, in this it is similar to the Huawei P10 devices. The difference is that Huawei P10 and have a fully metal cases, while the back surface of the Huawei P10 Lite is made of glass. This doesn't mean it looks cheaper or isn't as comfortable to hold, but you do need to be careful where you leave the phone, as it can slip and break when tilted. For this reason, after the purchase, it is advisable to immediately purchase a case.
This, in a nutshell, means that another mobile is better at taking night shots. From the camera app that comes with this device, we would also like to highlight some important data. But both are subject to change. This is a resolution that theoretically automatically uses the second camera sensor to enhance the information it gathers from light, but has the disadvantage that it does not allow for absolutely no magnification.

Numbers aside, the reality is that this terminal has a fluidity that is identical to what we can find in any of the markets. Rear part heats up a little in very, very, very demanding applications, although nothing to worry about. In the previous sections, we promised to talk about the fingerprint reader, and we haven't forgotten about it. Throughout the year, we always say that we are trying to use the terminal of this brand, but this is a statement that is 100 percent true to reality: the fingerprint reader works so fast that it seems like a lie.
Another notable difference is the absence of a double rear camera and physical home buttons, the location of the fingerprint scanner and the use of an outdated microUSB connector for recharging. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the case at a considerable distance from the camera. Unlike some of the more expensive Android smartphones, you don't run the risk of accidentally smearing the camera when you're trying to find the scanner. The scanner works reliably and quickly.
Look at the image you have above this paragraph, do you miss some details on the screen? Key: what is missing is at the bottom of the screen. Or rather, this is where the missing thing should be under normal circumstances. But we are not going to make remarks with intrigue: we are talking about no more and no less buttons of the operating system. We decided to remove the virtual buttons from the screen. All this has its own explanation. For me, this is the star feature of this phone's interface. In order to allow users to take full advantage of the 5.1 screen, the Chinese company released this year the option to completely remove the virtual buttons on its flagship.
On the right side are the embossed power buttons and volume control, the dual SIM card slot is on the left. At the bottom is a microUSB connector and a speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top.
Compared to Huawei P10, this smartphone is longer, wider and thicker. Part of the reason is that it has a larger screen.

During the week, with daily use from Monday to Friday, it gives us just over a day of use. Weekends, mainly multimedia use, we have long surpassed four hours of screen time.
Screen
Huawei P10 Lite has a 5.2-inch LCD screen and Full resolution HD, pixel density is 424 ppi, maximum and minimum brightness of 539 nits and 4 nits respectively, which provides comfortable reading in bright light and in the dark.
Price and main characteristics
Obviously it was some kind of mistake. And voila: the battery behaved perfectly normally. What about charging time? The more autonomy a mobile has, the longer it takes to charge the battery. As you can see, the efficiency of the super-fast charge is lost as the battery approaches 100% capacity.
Operating system and other software
The total charging time, by the way, exceeds an hour and a quarter. As for the speaker, the only thing we can say is that it has a maximum volume of more than enough to listen to music in a room and that, at a reasonable volume, the sound is clear, crisp and undistorted.
This is where the good news ends. The color temperature of the screen is cold at 9400 K, so most colors have a blue tint. You can change the balance by opening Settings > Display > Color temperature. Color saturation was also noticed, although many will not see this as a problem.
Interface and functionality
It's time to fully enter into our conclusions about every part of this smartphone. This, depending on how you look at it, can be either a plus or a minus. Which is not to say that we are talking about a mobile phone that feels very, very good in the hand. It feels good to hold it in one hand as its completely rounded shape fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. It's light, thin, and above all, it's reasonably sized to handle the screen without using the other hand.
Information about the type of speakers and audio technologies supported by the device
In addition to the design, we particularly highlighted the operation of the fingerprint reader, fast battery charging technology, the operation of the main dual camera, and the interesting inclusion of gestures in the fingerprint reader. Here are some of the things we liked the most about this terminal. By the time it arrives, it's actually quite likely that we can already find it at that price. At first glance, they can confuse the fronts of both because they are almost worn. Now it's more "sharp" because the glass is a few tenths of a millimeter below the frame, which can also make it more secure in case of a fall, but it's better not to try.
Like all recent Huawei smartphones, this unit runs on operating system Android 7.0 with user interface EMUI 5.1. As a result, the system is absolutely identical to that used in Huawei P10, the only difference is the absence physical button Home, which is used for multifunctional navigation.
If you've used EMUI before version 5.0 and didn't like it, now you should give it a second chance. Although it continues to look like a copy of Apple's iOS system, the Chinese manufacturer has included some features here that will appeal to pure Android fans.
We have the power and volume buttons on the right, and on the left is a tray with two settings. The volume is high, but nothing remarkable. For its part, the 5mm jack sits on top, next to one of the noise-canceling microphones. Instead of a metal body, we find a plastic back.
With its matte finish it doesn't give a bad feel to the touch, it's soft but helps it not be slippery, although obviously we always prefer more "premium" materials. The reader works quickly, very quickly, although we force the position of the finger to be less natural. It doesn't work like a button, it doesn't have a path, but we can keep our finger on top to take photos and videos when we open the camera, answer calls or stop alarms. But, by far, the most useful thing in everyday life is to pull down the notification bar by moving your finger on the sensor or moving between photos in the gallery without touching the screen.
By default, there is no list of applications, but you can easily enable it in the settings. If you don't like the layout of the on-screen navigation buttons, there are four different combinations available.
Experienced users will be attracted by the fact that there are many features and customization options. At the same time, such a variety can scare off not so sophisticated smartphone owners or older users who will not be able to figure it all out. In this case, there is a simple mode of operation, which is located in the advanced system settings.
Of course, it can be used as a way to unlock the phone or prevent access to the apps we want. The fingerprint reader has become a few years old to be complemented by decoding to be practically indispensable for many users in daily life. It's fast, convenient and will also play important role in the purchase confirmation when mobile payments will become popular.
Is the fingerprint sensor new technology? What is this for? We look at its origins, its challenges, and its future in the technology market. Is the same panel being used? That is to say, it is a veteran sensor, although for me it gives me the feeling that the result leaves much to be desired, because it suffers when there is little light and post-processing does it. During the daytime the camera takes very wonderful photos, at first glance we see photos with quite detailed and natural colors, only when zooming in we see how the processed tends to force definition and the cure is worse than the disease. That is, the result is good, and no more, if the conditions are followed.
When light falls, it suffers more, especially if used auto mode, the sensitivity is raised to get a good exposure, noise is accentuated, the watercolor effect is increased, and elements without defined edges. Very full, but not as fast as an automatic, crisp shot.
High battery life and low power consumption, but no fast charging
It's a pity you don't emulate your big brother with a dual camera, but of course you need to cut back to get more low prices. With daily use, it's easy to get to the end of the day with 30% battery left and on light use days, it was no big deal to endure two full days of load, reaching a long 5 hours of active screen.

It uses a Huawei Kirin 658 processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which operate at a frequency of 2.36 GHz, others at a frequency of 1.7 GHz.In Western Europe, Asia-Pacific and North Africa, a 4 GB version of the smartphone is on sale random access memory. Of course, the results in the AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmarks are not up to the flagship ones, but the vast majority of everyday tasks are performed without any problems. Navigating through the interface is fast and fluid, and most heavy 3D games run fairly quickly as well. You will not get 60 frames / s, but this does not mean that it will not be comfortable to play.

Huawei P10 Lite: platform overview
Let's start the review of Huawei P10 Lite with the chipset. The new representative of the middle price segment is built on the Kirin 655 platform, which is generally not bad. The chipset is produced according to the 16 nm process technology and is characterized by moderate power consumption with good performance indicators.
But don't expect outstanding performance. The Kirin 658 is based on reference Cortex A53 cores, the same as in the Kirin 655, which are not considered "fast". (). In terms of computing power, they are noticeably inferior to the Cortex A72, and even more so to the Cortex A73 architecture, which is latest processor Kirin 960 (Details about the processor). 
In this regard, I would like to ask a representative of Huawei a question: on what basis is the model positioned as a “light” version of the latest flagship? There are no flagship characteristics here and close, and it's not just the processor, as will be seen from the following Huawei review P10 Lite. A typical middle peasant who should have chosen a more appropriate name.
However, from the point of view of marketing, the allusion to the flagship is quite understandable. Buyers who do not understand the intricacies of the smartphone structure will ask the sellers of P10 consultants. And they will gladly offer a cheap version of the "flagship". I checked - that's exactly what they do (the request was for Huawei P9, they immediately offered Lite).
Huawei P10 Lite: camera specifications
With the characteristics of the Huawei P10 Lite camera, the situation is about the same as with the chipset. Nothing to do with the flagship. Instead of a double module, we see an ordinary one, without Leica optics, without optical stabilization, with an aperture of f/2.2. The models have only the number of megapixels in common - the Huawei P10 Lite camera has 12 of them, like the RGB module of the flagship model.
As you can see, the camera specifications are very mediocre. The front camera received a resolution of 8 megapixels, but without Leica optics and with an aperture of f / 2.0.
Display
The display of Huawei P10 Lite is not much different from the flagship, but this can be said in relation to almost all smartphones, and not only with the Huawei logo. We have Full HD resolution on a diagonal of 5.2 (0.1 inches more than the P10) with a pixel density of 424 ppi. Screen type, of course, IPS LCD. There is no information about the screen / front panel ratio yet. 
Memory and RAM
Quantitative improvements compared to the P8 Lite 2017 are visible in the RAM and permanent memory, and in this case, the quantity is quite capable of turning into quality. If the P8 Lite had 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory, the P10 Lite received 4 GB operational and 32 GB permanent memory. Already similar to the flagship characteristics, although the P10 still has more storage - 64 GB.
Huawei P10 Lite: disadvantages
Huawei P10 Lite has enough disadvantages:
- Still microUSB, although it was high time to switch to USB Type-C, especially since the model is positioned as the younger relative of the new flagship.
- There is no gyroscope.
- Weak main camera with small aperture and no OIS.
Some will say that we are picking on the mid-range model too much, but given the price of the Huawei P10 Lite, the nitpicking seems to be completely justified. Let's move on to price.
