Moto X Play Review: A Boosting Game. Motorola Moto X - Specifications

Motorola Moto The X Force is a large smartphone with a 5.4-inch screen and a rough design that looks like some kind of industrial device, not a flagship phone.

As for the dimensions, they are as follows - 149.8 × 78 × 9.5. These are some kind of borderline values - the device still fits well in the palm of your hand, but it's already inconvenient to operate it with one hand. There are almost no phones with exactly the same diagonal, it is still more compact than most 5.5-inch devices, such as the Honor 5X or Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, but noticeably thicker. The Moto X Force weighs 170 grams, which is quite a lot, comparable to the large Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL.

Outwardly, the smartphone is rude, this is clearly not a feminine option. Although at the same time it is stylish and, importantly, recognizable - the Moto X Force looks like some kind of massive, but at the same time reliable industrial device. From the front, the phone is not very noticeable in appearance - rounded corners, slightly convex top and bottom edges. Only the flash for the front camera and a pair of speakers at the bottom attract attention (one of them is not a speaker at all, but just a microphone). There are no separate control buttons, they are located on the screen itself. The side frames are average in thickness, the ratio of the display area to the surface of the device is about 70%. The most remarkable thing about the bezel is not the look, but the unbreakable, unbreakable ShatterShield safety glass. Although it does not break, it is easily scratched. In addition, the decorative insert above the screen, dangling from touch, also does not inspire much confidence. The side edges are made of metal, casting a dark purple glow in the sun, with their angular shapes they give appearance smartphone massiveness. The back panel is perhaps the most interesting part of the Moto X Force. It is made of so-called ballistic nylon, framed by strips of metal. In fact, this material is a durable fiber that is used in military equipment. In terms of tactile sensations, nylon is similar to textured fabric, it is not easy to damage or scratch it, it holds well in the hand, is elastic and durable. At the same time, it is very easy to stain it - if some kind of dust, dirt or liquid gets clogged between the fibers of this wonderful material, then it will be serious and for a long time. The nylon back is only interrupted at the top of the case to make room for Motorola's signature oval insert that houses the camera lens, flash and circular logo that looks like a fingerprint scanner. By the way, this scanner would not interfere with this flagship model at all. It's even strange that Moto X Force does not have it, while both top competitors and many mid-price smartphones are already equipped with it.

The Motorola Moto X Force case is not demountable, the build quality is high. The phone has also received protection from accidental splashes and drops thanks to a water-repellent nano-coating. But this does not mean that it can be immersed in water. And in general, its "security" still raises a number of questions - it is still not shock-resistant and not water-resistant, as, for example, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, and although the glass does not break, it also easily collects scratches.

The Motorola Moto X Force can only be purchased in one color - black.

Screen - 4.3

The Motorola Moto X Force is equipped with a high-quality 5.4-inch AMOLED display of the highest resolution. True, it cannot be called ideal, for complete happiness there is not enough brightness a little higher and a mode of operation with gloves.

The screen got unnecessarily a high resolution at 2560 × 1440 pixels. This is a bit overkill in our opinion, even the 5.5-inch is bypassed with the Full HD display, and no one has complained about the fuzzy picture yet. The pixel density (ppi) is impressive - 544 per inch, it is a pity that there is little sense from this, some irregularities can only be noticed when armed with a magnifying glass. As we said above, one of the features of the screen is the protective shatterproof glass ShatterShield.

The brightness range was not very wide - from 5 to 337 cd / m2. In the dark, the display will definitely not blind your eyes. The maximum brightness doesn't look all that high, but that's typical of an AMOLED display. At the same time, it is atypical that the viewing angles turned out to be at the same than the average for this type displays. In the sun, the screen is readable with little difficulty, and when you shoot on the street with a camera, the visibility becomes even worse. If you turn off the display and look at it at an angle in the sun, you will see an unsightly picture altogether - as if machine oil has been spilled on the screen. Perhaps all this is due to the protective glass, which is composed of several layers. The color gamut of the screen is much wider than the standard sRGB, but rather tends to cover the broader Adobe RGB standard. On average, the color reproduction can be called accurate, but the unnatural red color spoils everything, and in general, many colors look too saturated. The contrast of the image tends to infinity, and the color temperature is equal to the reference 6500 degrees. The only pity is that there are no image settings and operation mode with gloves.

Cameras - 4.7

The Motorola Moto X Force smartphone is equipped with cool 21 and 5 MP cameras. They can be called top-end, but they are still slightly inferior to many flagship competitors.

The main camera received not only many megapixels, but also a fairly large Sony IMX230 sensor with a diagonal of 1 / 2.4 ″. Although at the same Huawei Nexus 6P it is slightly larger, 1 / 2.3 ″. In addition, the Moto X Force arsenal has a dual LED flash, a fairly wide F2.0 aperture and phase focusing. For a complete set, the only thing missing is optical image stabilization.

The camera interface is rather unusual, but almost the same as that of the rest of the company's phones, we described it in more detail in the review. The main features of the control - shooting takes place by "tap" on the display, focus and exposure are adjusted by moving a special circle on the screen. The settings can be accessed by "swipe" from left to right. The setting options are not great, only the Auto HDR mode can be noted, which decides for itself whether to turn on or not, and, as a rule, it does it correctly. It is strange that the flagship camera, in fact, does not have any deeper settings, the same manual mode... As if it's not Android, but iPhone 6 Plus. However, not everyone needs all these modes, filters or some other tinsel. Most importantly, the camera does a good job of shooting. She does it especially well during the day, not inferior in quality to other stellar flagships. Daylight photos taken with the Moto X Force are quite comparable to those taken with the camera. The high resolution and large sensor allow for a large amount of detail in the frame. Focusing is quick and clear, the exposure is automatically set correctly, dynamic range(even without Auto HDR) better than average. Colors tend to come out natural, but often look wildly oversaturated on a phone screen, especially green tones. But don't worry, this is more of a color rendering feature on the AMOLED display. If you view the same frames on the monitor, then all this "wildness" disappears. What we didn’t like about the camera was shooting in low light, and it performs worse with night shooting than many competitors. Panoramas also disappointed us a little - the level of detail is low. For some reason, Moto X Force saves on resolution - the height of the captured frames does not exceed 1000 pixels, which is not enough. Because of this, the panorama looks more like one oblong shot with a not very high resolution, and not like several high resolution photos stitched together.

The phone can be commended for shooting video - in the arsenal of Moto X Force there is 4K resolution, slow motion (1280 × 720 pixels, 120 frames per second) and tracking autofocus. The 5MP front camera is equipped with flash and HDR mode. It does a good job of taking selfies even indoors and allows you to adjust the exposure yourself. She doesn't have any built-in filters for decorating, but, to be honest, she didn't really want to. The front camera can shoot video in Full HD, as well as slow motion in HD resolution.

Working with text - 4.0

The Moto X Force runs bare-metal Android 6, which uses a standard Google keyboard. Most likely, you have already used it - it supports Swype (continuous input) and switching between languages using a separate key. There are no additional symbols on the icons, only for quick dialing of numbers.

Internet - 3.0

Since we are talking, in fact, about a "naked" Android, then of the browsers on Moto X Force there is only one Google chrome... The smartphone works quietly with several open tabs... From interesting features the browser has the ability to synchronize tabs and history with the desktop version, incognito mode, the ability to open the full page version and scaling the text with a double click to a preselected size. If you don't like Chrome or are used to something else, then nothing prevents you from installing the desired browser from the Play Market.

Communications - 5.0

The Motorola Moto X Force has a flagship communications suite, but you might not like the support for only one SIM card. The rest of the list is good:

  • Fast & Dual Band Wi-Fi a / b / g / n / ac
  • Energy efficient Bluetooth 4.1 with A2DP profile
  • Fast LTE Cat. 6, (up to 300/50 Mbps)
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support
  • NFC chip.

Many people will not like the lack of FM radio and support for just one NanoSIM card. A standard Micro USB 2.0 connector is used for charging and connecting to a PC. It supports USB OTG, so you can connect various peripherals to your smartphone via cable. Separately, we note the complete key for the SIM card slot - usually it is small and thin, but here it is large, convenient and looks reliable.

Multimedia - 2.8

The Moto X Force does not boast support for a wide range of multimedia formats, but it has excellent sound quality.

So, it plays, for example, FLAC, but cannot cope with audio in AC-3. From the video, it doesn't want to play RMVB, TS, FLV, MOV and some AVI files. Moto X Force comes with only standard audio player preinstalled Google play Music with an incomprehensible interface. This is not just a player, but a full-fledged music service, however, you will have to pay for its full functionality. Okay, at least in free version there is a built-in equalizer with sound frequency adjustment. Initially, there is no separate video player, he can simply play the video and pause it, even a simple rewind to the right moment of the film is difficult for him.

Battery - 4.9

The autonomy of Motorola Moto X Force turned out to be very high, and this despite the huge display resolution and high performance. The phone was enough for us for one and a half, sometimes two days of use. A smartphone can be enough for more, if you do not play, turn on the power saving mode and turn off branded chips that constantly consume energy.

The Moto X Force has a good 3,760mAh battery, but is that enough for an ultra-sharp screen and top-end chipset? It turned out that yes. Thus, the smartphone was enough for 12 hours of HD video viewing (maximum brightness and Airplane mode), which is very close to record holders such as Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Philips W6610. What's the secret? The screen is very sharp, but not the brightest, and it is also AMOLED, which means that it is quite economical. True, this also means that the result will greatly depend on what exactly you will watch on the screen - bright color videos or black and white films. In the case of a light load, the smartphone also holds a charge well - 138 hours in a music marathon (with headphones), which is longer than that of the Sony Xperia Z3 or iPhone 6s. The GeekBench Battery Test took about 16% of the charge for an hour, the result is better than average. The camera also does not drain the battery very quickly - about 6% for shooting a 10-minute Full HD video. But in games Moto X Force no longer breaks any records, in them the smartphone is enough for 4.5 hours.

Interestingly, the manufacturer put a TurboPower charger in the box, which fully charges the phone in an hour and a half (as promised on the manufacturer's website) - an excellent result for such a battery. large capacity.

Performance - 5.0

Motorola Moto X Force is equipped with a top-end, but already last year's chipset and 3 GB random access memory which is enough for fast work and solutions to all smartphone tasks. In terms of performance, the device is comparable to the 2015 Android flagships.

Motorola Moto X Force received an eight-core Qualcomm processor MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 (four cores up to 1.55 GHz and four cores up to 2.0 GHz). It is notorious for overheating, but in this case, a revised version of it is used, which does not heat up that much.

In daily use, the Moto X Force works quickly and without problems, after all, it has top-end performance and "bare" Android without any fancy interfaces. Any heavy games and applications simply "fly" on it. We checked if the phone heats up during operation - it turned out that yes, but not very much. After half an hour of gaming, the back warmed up to 42.4 degrees (about the same as the Huawei P9 Lite, but much more than the Huawei Nexus 6P). This is felt by the hands as excessive warmth and has a noticeable effect, for example, on the benchmark results. But many smartphones got much hotter (for example, Sony Xperia Z3 + or HTC One M9).

If we talk about the benchmark results, they turned out to be high, typically flagship:

  • GeekBench 3 - 4505 points (received 4413)
  • AnTuTu 6.0 - 73631 (noticeably inferior to Huawei Nexus 6P, apparently manages to heat up during the test)
  • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited - up to 26394 (almost a third higher than Samsung Galaxy Note 4), but if you repeat the test a couple of times, the result drops by the same third, to the level of the LG G4.

Memory - 5.0

The built-in memory of the Moto X Force is 32 or 64 GB. In the younger version, you will have 24 GB available. Typical figures for the flagship model, but if you plan to actively download applications and shoot 4K video, then the memory card slot will come in handy (MicroSD cards up to 2 TB are supported).

Peculiarities

Motorola Moto X Force - runs on "bare" Android 6.0 with a small set of proprietary chips for control. The main feature of the phone is shatterproof glass, metal frames, "ballistic nylon" backrest and protection of the device from splashes. That is, it is an almost completely rugged smartphone with top-end features. In addition, we note the high autonomy of the phone, support for only one SIM-card and a non-separable body. Moto X Force does not have some kind of proprietary interface, but it supports a number of unusual features such as turning on the camera or flashlight using hand movements with the phone. Another interesting feature is the "active display" function - with the help of motion sensors the device understands when you pick it up and offers to unlock it from the screen.

The front camera is content with a 5-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle fixed focus lens. The maximum selfie resolution is available with the classic aspect ratio (4: 3) - 2560x1920 pixels (5 MP), and for widescreen gruffy (16: 9) - 2560x1440 pixels (3.7 MP).

Both cameras can record videos from Full HD resolution(1920 x 1080 pixels) at a frame rate of 30 fps. At the same time, for a video slowed down four times (slo-mo), the main camera provides quality [email protected] fps (960x540 pixels), and frontal - [email protected] fps (1280x720 pixels).

The Camera application has a very concise interface. So, to take a picture, you should touch the screen anywhere. Zooming in the viewfinder is done by swiping up or down. If you quickly twist your wrist twice, you can start the camera from standby mode or switch between the main and front camera. For manual setting focus and exposure "paper clip" in the viewfinder should be dragged to the desired place where the adjustment element can easily adjust the brightness of the image. It is convenient to go to the gallery of pictures with a swipe to the left. Swipe to the right opens an arched bar with settings icons. It offers, for example, to choose a flash mode, HDR, timer delay, slow motion or regular shooting, aspect ratio for photos, etc.

By the way, QR and bar codes are scanned automatically, you just need to point the camera at the corresponding object.

The "multimedia" speaker, located at the bottom of the front panel of the smartphone, boasts a fairly high volume, as well as a relatively clear and pleasant sound. It is a pity that the second speaker is not connected for stereo mode. So it's still better to listen to music through wired headphones, since such an accessory (as opposed to a more convenient Bluetooth headset) is also useful as a shortwave antenna for the built-in FM tuner.

Filling, performance

The Moto X Play is based on a platform designed for mid-range devices - Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939).

Recall that on such a crystal, eight 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores, manufactured using a 28-nm process technology, are divided equally into two clusters. One of them clocks at up to 1.7 GHz and the other at 1 GHz. The integrated graphics accelerator Adreno 405 has received support for DirectX 11.2, OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenCL 1.2. The Snapdragon 615 architecture, including, in particular, the Hexagon V50 signal processor, provides for the implementation of GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless interfaces, Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, as well as a Multi-SIM modem with LTE Cat. 4 (up to 150 Mbps). The basic configuration of the smartphone is supplemented by 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM (800 MHz), which is controlled by a single-channel 32-bit controller.

The hardware platform Moto X Play predetermined the number of "virtual parrots" it collected on synthetic tests AnTuTu Benchmark and Vellamo benchmarks (Multicore, Metal).

For the main settings High Performance and High Quality (performance at the expense of quality and vice versa) of the Epic Citadel visual test, the Moto X Play results were quite at the level of 57.4 and 54.9 fps, respectively. But for the Ultra High Quality setting, at the same resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the frame rate dropped quite significantly (30.6 fps).

On the universal gaming benchmark 3DMark, where the smartphone was tested on the recommended Sling Shot set, a result corresponding to the average level of the platform was recorded - 374 points. Quite confidently Moto X Play copes even with 3D games (for example, with the same Asphalt 8 races or the shooter Dead Trigger 2), but, as a rule, not at maximum settings.

The total number of points earned by the smartphone on the Base Mark OS II cross-platform benchmark was 806.

Of the 16 GB of internal memory of the smartphone, about 11 GB is available, and initially about 10 GB is free. You can expand the available storage with a microSD / HC / XC memory card up to 128GB by placing it on the corresponding side of the tray in the combo slot. Once again, we note that this happens without prejudice to the installation on the other side of the tray of both subscriber identification modules (in nanoSIM format). In addition, thanks to the support of USB-OTG technology, it is easy to connect a USB flash drive to the Moto X Play as a storage device.

Two nanoSIM (4FF) subscriber identification modules working with one radio module provide Dual mode SIM Dual Standby. Both trays in the slot support 4G networks, but only one of the installed SIM cards will work with an LTE modem (Cat. 4, up to 150 Mbps). The other will have 2G (GSM) networks at its disposal. The choice of a SIM card for voice calls, SMS and mobile data transfer remains in the prerogative of the user. Among the rather impressive number of available LTE-FDD Bands (1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 28) there was also the "Russian troika" - Band 3 (1800 MHz), Band 7 (2600 MHz) and Band 20 (800 MHz). Among other wireless communications, the novelty has Bluetooth 4.0 LE + EDR interfaces, 2-band Wi-Fi a / b / g / n (2.4 and 5 GHz), as well as NFC, which is not typical for the middle class.

For positioning and navigation, satellite systems GPS and GLONASS, which is confirmed by the readings test program AndroiTS GPS Test. Wi-Fi coordination and cellular networks possible due to the support of A-GPS technology.

"The secret of longevity" Moto X Play - in a non-removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3 630 mAh. The manufacturer indicates that under certain conditions autonomous time the smartphone can work up to two days. The standard power adapter has two USB connectors, which, in principle, allows you to charge two devices from it at the same time. However, it is not recommended to do this together with a smartphone, since the process of filling its battery already takes an unreasonably long time (more than three hours) - after all, the maximum output current of the adapter is just over one ampere (1,150 mA). Note that the fast charger (TurboCharger) needs to be purchased separately. It is said to be capable of filling a discharged battery with enough energy for 8 hours of battery life in 15 minutes.

On battery tests AnTuTu Tester, the device earned 7,304 points. At the same time, every hour of playback of test videos in MP4 format ( hardware decoding) and Full HD quality at maximum brightness reduced the battery charge by an average of about 10% (estimation interval 8 hours).

The transition to the power saving mode can be programmed in the settings when the battery charge level is 5% or 15%.

Features of the software

During testing, Moto X Play suggested updating the operating system with the installed Android version 5.1.1 (Lollipop) to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The interface of this OS is familiar enough.

As you know, there is nothing superfluous in "pure" Android, but necessary software from Google Play, you can install it yourself. Among the branded preinstalled applications, it is worth noting the Moto program, which takes care of actions (reaction to user movements), voice commands(Russian language, alas, is not supported) and notifications displayed on the display. In turn, the Alerts app makes you feel safe by sharing your location with family and friends. But the Connect program will help you connect Motorola accessories (watches, headphones, etc.) to the Moto X Play.

Purchase, conclusions

The Moto X Play smartphone can undoubtedly be attributed to the most interesting representatives of the average price segment... According to Yandex.Market, in large retail chains, at the time of testing, they asked for 29,990 rubles. For this money, a device is offered under a well-known brand with an original design and high-quality components. Note that the color of the new device changes easily and quickly, thanks to replaceable plastic panels, and the water-repellent nano-coating of the case protects the device from accidental drops and splashes. The Moto X Play has a high-quality 5.5-inch display with a flagship 21-megapixel camera and a fairly capacious battery. At the same time, the hardware filling is spiced with "pure" Android and useful applications Motorola.

Unfortunately, the new product cannot boast of a record performance. In addition, the good autonomy of the smartphone is associated with the long process of filling its non-removable high-capacity battery. After all, the fast charging adapter is not included in the Moto X Play kit, alas.

In comparison with another stylish long-liver from Lenovo - - the new smartphone turned out to be a little thicker (9.9 mm versus 10.9 mm), but lighter (169 g versus 189 g), and in terms of filling it wins only with the resolution of the main camera (21 MP versus 13 MP), yielding, in particular, to the battery capacity (3 630 mA * h versus 5000 mA * h) and the absence of a fingerprint scanner. At the time of testing, it was not on sale. However, Lenovo believes that each of the Vibe and Moto lines (and, therefore, the models in them) has its own audience.

The results of the review of the smartphone Moto X Play

Pros:

  • Changing the color of the case with interchangeable panels
  • Quality display
  • Advanced 21MP camera
  • Good battery life
  • Water-repellent housing
  • Pure Android

Minuses:

  • Average productivity
  • Non-removable battery
  • Long process of filling the battery from the standard adapter
  • Smartphone does not come with a fast charger (TurboCharger)

At the end of 2015, the American market was replenished with the flagship model Droid Turbo 2. It was designed to reincarnate the once top brand Motorola. Traditionally for the States, the device was tied to the Verizon operator. However, the new boss, Lenovo, went further and introduced the Moto X Force, a smartphone for all markets. What is the highlight of this solution, we will now figure it out.

Appearance and equipment of Motorola Moto X Force

The manufacturer, contrary to popular belief, does not position its brainchild as a protected device. The only thing is that at the factory the smartphone is treated with a special liquid that makes the case waterproof. Thus, compliance with the IP52 standard is declared, which allows it to be wetted, but not immersed in water. At the same time, the Moto X Force is equipped with a Moto ShatterShield display, which theoretically does not beat under any conditions. Lenovo gives it a 4-year warranty. As shown by crash tests, the screen really can withstand several drops on a concrete surface, however, the body bends, but the smartphone itself continues to work.

The latter here has a metal frame and is made of aluminum. That is why the weight of the device does not exceed 169 g, with dimensions:

  • Width - 78 mm;
  • Height - 149.8 mm;
  • Thickness - 9.20 mm.
It is quite normal performance for this kind of device. If we talk about the form factor, then we have a 5.4-inch candy bar with rounded edges and thick enough frames around the screen. The main camera is recessed into the body, which means that there is no need to be smart with a cover and an additional protective glass for the lens. The function keys on the right side are small, but they work well and do not rattle. In general, the build quality is high level, although for this price tag it would be difficult to expect otherwise.

The tray for the SIM-card is located in an unusual way - next to the 3.5-mm "jack" on the bottom edge of the case. Moreover, there is only one SIM card, but it is adjacent to a slot for a memory card. Back cover non-removable and is one piece with the battery. By the way, it is made of "ballistic nylon", which a priori cannot be shuffled around. But there are problems with the front panel. The fact is that she likes to accumulate dust on the top and bottom of the decorative insert near the earpiece. The speaker with a microphone was not spared either. Moisture resistance you say? Oh well. As for the "fighting color", here you can choose one single color - black. However, before us is a male device with all that it implies.

The scope of delivery of the device includes:

  • Smartphone.
  • TurboPower charger.
  • USB cable.
  • A clip for removing the SIM card tray.
  • Headset (wired).
  • Manual.

Motorola Moto X Force screen

Let's start with the performance characteristics:
  • Maximum level of rage at 330 cd / m2;
  • Color gamut (sRGB) over one hundred percent;
  • Delta E - 1.6;
  • The gamma is 2.3;
  • Color temperature - 6800K.
This is not to say that these are outstanding characteristics for a capacitive AMOLED screen. Moreover, it is produced by Samsung, which produce displays for themselves more High Quality, but here they were obviously cheating. However, QHD-resolution is present, but the manufacturing technology deserves special attention. Here a multi-layer protection is implemented, where the first layer is two durable plastic panels, then there are two sensor substrates, then a touch sensitive "soft" OLED matrix, indifferent to shocks. Completing the picture is an aluminum backing that covers the iron. Yes, it is difficult to break this "Big Mac", but it is easy to scratch, since the manufacturer did not provide for tempered glass, so you have to glue a protective film or a Chinese analogue of a "gorilla" to the pile. Needless to say, such a "pie" does not have the best effect on color rendition. In addition, the multi-layered display increases the thickness of the case by at least a millimeter.

The viewing angles are good, but the screen is hopeless in the sun and glares mercilessly. One gets the feeling that you are looking deeply and somewhere at the bottom of the system interface. In fairness, it should be noted that the effect is not noticeable indoors, but over time you start to look closely.

Motorola Moto X Force - Firmware Review

Initially, the smartphone was delivered "out of the box" with preinstalled Android 5.1, but migrated to Russia with the sixth edition of the OS. Moreover, this is not a bare firmware, not pathetic attempts to create something of your own, and then forget to update, but a balanced operating system, slightly doped by developers, but not devoid of its own chips. So, a proprietary option has been implemented that displays all necessary information on the locked screen. The device reacts sensitively to movements and changes in illumination in order to show the current time or a notification of arrival at the destination at the right time. Interestingly, this has little effect on autonomy.
  1. coveted for owners of "clean" Android 6.0 reset button;
  2. contextual computing;
  3. additional processors that control sensors and cameras while the smartphone is sleeping;
  4. proprietary Active Display option.

Filling Motorola Moto X Force

The device operates under the control of the very "brazier" in the person of Snapdragon 810, which received four ARM Cortex-A57 cores with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, 1.5 GHz. On paper, everything is fine, but in practice, in multitasking mode, the device starts to overheat, and the frequencies drop. In fairness, we note that the Moto X Force case cannot be called hot even under overload, which is helped to a certain extent by the aluminum and the thickness of the case. However, in fact, we get a Snapdragon 652 with good optimization for games, since the Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB LPDDR4 RAM are also present.

The Motorola Moto X Force 64gb version may be enough for the average user if you don't need to store a lot of files. Wherein internal memory can be expanded up to 2 TB with microSD cards at the price of the plane. True, it is difficult to believe in this. In any case, the card will take a long time to think, but the same 256 GB are easily swallowed by the gadget. If you neglect the memory expansion, then in the case of, for example, Motorola Moto X Force 32gb, you will get 21 gigabytes of usable space with a penny. The rest will be taken operating system and software. However, no one canceled root-rights. By the way, the device supports OTS-connection, even a mouse works, which is a little bit surprising.

Motorola Moto X Force test

The model cannot be called weak, although it does not take the first places in synthetic tests, after all, it's 2017. But it can quite compete with HiSilicon Kirin 935, MediaTek MT6795 and Exynos 7420. So, in AnTuTu the device is gaining 85652 "parrots". Browser and graphic tests also gave averages. There were no problems with Full-HD video playback. At the same time, the smartphone heated up a little higher and to the left of the center of the case, that is, where the processor is located. The maximum temperature was 48 degrees, the minimum - 24 degrees. This is tolerable, given the fact that under load, the average gadget heats up to 35 degrees.

In any case, you have to come to terms with the thought - you are buying a device for "here and now", since new SoCs are entering the arena, and games are slowly but surely approaching their desktop counterparts. 2017 for Moto X Force will pass without losses, but the next one is still in question. Thus, the reserve for the future is not.

Communication and communications Motorola Moto X Force

The smartphone is optimized for Russian networks, it can work in 2G GSM and 3G WCDMA, as well as LTE Cat6 FDD and TDD, that is, theoretically it can be accelerated to 300 Mbps. There are no questions about the quality of signal reception. The device feels confident both indoors and with a weak signal somewhere in the backyard. Thus, the following frequencies are supported:
  • LTE FDD: Band 1-5-28; TDD Band 40;
  • WCDMA: 850-2100 MHz;
  • GSM: 850-1900 MHz.
Also provided:
  • Bluetooth 4.1 with feedback;
  • NFC module;
  • two Wi-Fi bands;
  • the same number of MIMO antennas.
In addition, there is Wi-Fi Direct, and therefore the device can act as an access point. From the connectors - second generation microUSB. Not the age for the third generation. The geotag beats off by GPS with mobile A-GPS correction, GLONASS is provided for masochists. Be that as it may, with a cold start, satellites are detected quickly. In addition, there is a magnetic sensor that can be used as a compass.

The regular dialer differs from the system one and supports a quick Smart Dial search. The keyboard is also non-standard, but comfortable, there is continuous input. It is a pity that the developer did not foresee the scaling of the interface.

Motorola Moto X Force cameras

The smartphone is equipped with:
  1. 21 megapixel main Sony camera IMX230 with f / 2.0 aperture and LED flash.
  2. 5MP f / 2.0 front camera with LED flash.
As practice has shown, software part cameras implemented badly. Even switching to the front sensor with the help of a hand movement does not save the situation. The controls react badly to tapas, and the interface itself is slipshod, which is unforgivable for a flagship. In this case, it is better to focus manually, since auto mode with obvious laziness. In addition, the exposure is combined with autofocus, which imposes considerable inconvenience.

The photography is up to the mark, but for obvious reasons, its quality does not reach the level of modern top-end smartphones. The camcorder supports 4K, there is slomode, that is, slow motion. Optical stabilization as such, it is not, but when moving, the video is recorded smoothly. The sharpness is especially pleasing. There are those who scold the camera, but here, as they say, the taste and color. If you've tried the iPhone 7 optics, then of course the Moto X Force isn't the best option. Anyway, the detail is good.

The front camera for selfies is not the best option, except that Skype will love it, but the traffic will be saved, but the flash is implemented, which helps out great in certain situations.

Motorola Moto X Force Sound

Before the release of the device, there were rumors of five speakers. Expectations were not met. The device received one music speaker and two microphones, including noise canceling ones. The sound is loud and clear, with a small amount of mids and low frequencies... At maximum, the sound begins to choke, and the speaker wheezes. Although the manufacturer does not position its brainchild as an external audio speaker. It is enough for a ringtone, and the recorder catches even distant conversations and records cleanly.

But in the headphones, the picture radically changes not without the help of the high-quality audio section of the Snapdragon 810 and the 10-band equalizer with presets. Thus, the solution is second only to devices with a separate DAC, it is enough for a music lover, but not enough for an audiophile.

Motorola Moto X Force: battery life characteristics

The autonomy of the device pleases, despite the fact that there is a powerful processor and a large AMOLED screen, which are provided by a 3760 mAh battery. The charge is enough for a couple of days of mixed mode operation without any problems.
  • Video from a memory card for 13 hours;
  • Games up to five hours;
  • Reading - 7 hours.
The device supports fast charging and comes with a compact charger TurboPower, which actually charges up to hundreds in an hour and 15 minutes. True, the memory is heated not weakly. Nobody said that it would be easy, since this does not affect the performance of the adapter in any way. That is why the manufacturer did not provide for a removable USB cable, so that the third-party simply does not melt. If you manage to lose your charge, then it will be difficult to find it in retail, and it costs a lot. It is recommended to use a standard memory too, so as not to destroy the battery, but the speed of capacity replenishment will be appropriate.

Pros and cons of Motorola Moto X Force

Motorola fans expected the Moto X Force to drop in price, but a miracle did not happen, but it should have happened, because interesting analogs have long appeared on the market, which can do more and cost less. Be that as it may, the device still remains a device for fans of the brand, designed to surprise others, they say, Motorola is still wow, and what if the Chinese bought it. At the same time, it is not only the price that saddens, but also the camera, the lack of which could be corrected by software, which for some reason the developers did not do.

Pros of the device:

  • Unbreakable screen.
  • Balanced iron.
  • Large memory support.
  • Sophisticated firmware.
  • Capacious battery.
  • Really fast charging.
  • 21 megapixel camera.
Among the minuses, we note:
  • No tempered glass.
  • Disgusting Camera app.
  • Large-width frames around the screen.
  • Hot Snapdragon 810.
  • Price.

Motorola Moto X Force: price and video review

The model can really surprise, one multilayer screen is worth something. And the device looks brutal and memorable. He has the very place on the jeep torpedo or next to the vertical gun, although there are no special protective qualities other than the screen. In other words, before us unusual smartphone for those who want to stand out and least of all think about the filling, although to call it budgetary - the language does not turn.

The price of Motorola Moto X Force in Russia is 40,000-50,000 rubles, depending on the size of the drive. Check out the video review and crash test below:

The Motorola Moto X smartphone is the second generation of phones with an improved screen, high-end processor, and infinitely customizable design, making the 2014 Moto X a true flagship device.

Motorola Moto X Phone - Reviews

Last year, Motorola turned its smartphone design upside down. Although the Moto X smartphone had a special beauty and personality, it could not compete with high-end smartphones.

The Moto X remains true to its roots this year, but adds high specs that put it on par with any other flagship. Android smartphone 2014 year.

Customizable Motorola Moto X

If you've seen the stylish Moto X, any other smartphone will seem boring to you. Thanks to Moto Maker, anyone can become a designer and make their phone the way they want it to be.

Appearance

Those who buy new Smartphone Motorola Moto X will be able to choose from 25 different back panels, including four types of genuine leather, natural wood, and other bright, colorful options.

The new Moto X smartphone is very similar to the previous model, but this time it has a bezel around it, it's premium metal instead of plastic. Metal looks and feels high-end. It also adds a nice sheen to your phone. The slight bend of the body on the back makes it very comfortable to hold in the hand, and the matte surface gives a good grip.

The volume rocker sits below the power button on the right side, and the power button itself has a light texture to distinguish it from the volume button, which adds another small touch to the device. The headphone jack is located at the top, while the micro USB port is located at the bottom of the phone. Two speakers are located at the top and bottom of the front of the Motorola Moto X, while the camera, which features a circular LED flash, is mounted on the back of the device.

Screen

This year, the Moto X is slightly larger than last year's model, mainly because the screen size is 5.2 inches. Even so, the difference in size is minimal at first glance, thanks to the thinner bezels and space savings along the top and bottom of the smartphone.

Screen

The display is full HD, 1080p OLED, so images look bright and clear. If you are obsessed with pixels, you will not immediately notice that this is not a Quad HD screen.

The new Moto X phone works under Android 4.4.4 KitKat and unlike most other smartphone manufacturers, Motorola offers software in the purest possible form, with only some changes and additions.

Excellent voice and gesture features

An interesting plug-in is a voice assistant that recognizes your voice and responds only to it.

Moto X Voice Assistant

Gesture control on X is also possible. All you have to do is move your hand over the phone when it is "asleep" and the watch will show you the time. We found this feature incredibly useful and makes checking the time on the Moto X much easier than on any other smartphones, including the LG G3, which has a similar thing called indirect influence.

You can also turn on your phone, turn on the camera at any time, and perform other interesting gestures for common tasks.

The first Moto X phone was a solid, mid-range smartphone, but this time Motorola gives us a true flagship. The main technical specifications of the Motorola Moto X are the same as those of other flagship smartphones, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.5 801 processor and 2GB of RAM.

The Moto X is very fast in all tests. Downloading and launching applications goes without a hitch, web searches at very fast speeds, and streaming watching youtube video without buffering happens at a time.

In addition to the processor and plenty of RAM, the Moto X offers 16GB or 32GB of storage to choose from. Unfortunately, there is no microSD slot, so you are limited in storage capacity, which you will never see on the Galaxy S5, LG G3 and Htc one M8.

Motorola Moto X photo and camera

The 13MP rear camera has a much higher resolution than the 10MP shooter on previous version... The camera focuses very quickly, but sometimes misses. In bright light conditions, everything tends to be in bright colors, especially if you focus on the wrong things.

In low light, the Moto X's photos are slightly grainy, and so does the video.

2 megapixel front-camera works well for selfies and will handle video chatting needs without issue.

Overall, we're not overly impressed with the cameras. They work fine, but like most Motorola phones, they are far from impressive.

The data transfer speed is fast and we didn't have any network problems. Call quality was also great, we had no audibility or microphone issues.

Battery

V smartphone Moto X - 2300mAh battery allows you to use your smartphone during a full working day intensively.

Output

The Motorola Moto X is an improved second generation smartphone that features a new screen, high-end processor, and an infinitely customizable design.

The first Motorola Moto X was a solid mid-range smartphone, but this year the new Moto X is undoubtedly high-end and already on the same level as most other flagship phones, but it's the most customizable smartphone you can buy.

pros

  • Individual design
  • Fast processor
  • Large screen size

Problem solved

Pluses: + Excellent 1080p screen, bright, juicy. Not as saturated as Samsung's, but I like it more, the colors are more natural. In the settings, you can set colder shades if you want. Scratch protection Gorilla Glass 3, does not save from falling, unfortunately + Almost pure Android - a minimum of preinstalled software (only motion recognition and geolocation sharing for an emergency from Moto), Google Now launcher (Google Start). No pre-installed Facebook, Twitter and other nonsense + Very smart, I think, due to the minimum clutter of the system just + Replaceable panels included (took white, included orange and light green panels) - very pleasant to the touch, not easily soiled, not slippery are easy to replace. Another tactile one - the screen lock button is fluted, so that it cannot be confused with the volume buttons, even blindly. + Support for 2 SIM cards, both slots for nano-SIM + Good high-quality sound + Good sound transmission in a conversation, there is a rear microphone for noise cancellation + Convenient Moto lock screen - I liked how notifications are displayed on the locked screen, how they can be customized + Support quick access to the camera using a gesture (it's a pity, for some reason, the flashlight cannot be turned on either, although in the reviews of the younger model, Moto G - this feature works) + Very good, nimble camera, but you need to get used to the interface - tap to shoot anywhere on the screen + setting the exposure and focus + Upgrading to Android 6 over the air immediately worked out of the box - however, I somehow did not notice any tangible advantages. + Sufficiently capacious battery, keeps one and a half to two days stably Disadvantages: - The price is high. I got the phone as a gift, after all, 30 thousand is more expensive than mine old iphone at the start! Although now everything has grown greatly in price (- It is impossible to turn off the Google search bar at the top of the screen in any way. They say that this can be "cured" by installing a custom launcher, but still - it's inconvenient - Weight and dimensions: due to large battery the phone weighs a lot + is fat, although it sits comfortably in the hand - The gesture to quickly turn on the flashlight does not work - Poor bundle. Yes, the set includes 2 colored panels and a charger with 2 USB-inputs (you can charge 2 devices at once), but neither protective film, there is no headset or memory card in the box. - The built-in memory is only 16GB, but this can be easily fixed by installing a removable microSD - Earpods and Beats headphones are not supported, at bits the phone only responds to the pause button, the volume is not adjustable. This is inconvenient, now you will have to look for headphones for everything to work (they are not included in the kit) Comment: In general, I am very pleased with the phone, very smart and keeps the battery well! I understand that with such characteristics you can find a more budgetary "Chinese" of some kind, but in terms of tactile sensations, build quality, screen quality, sound, usability - this is definitely an "above average" class phone.
