How do I reset the settings?

A fitness bracelet is simply irreplaceable for people involved in sports. They are happy to use the useful functions of the appliance. They can customize the options to their liking via a tablet or smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet is a simple and quite stylish gadget. Even a schoolboy can easily figure out its functions. The device is compatible with many well-known operating systems.

In addition to the above positive qualities, the device has one and very significant drawback. The instructions do not say a word on how to reset to factory settings. Mi Band 2 in this case should be used in conjunction with a tablet or smartphone. The Mi Fit tracker app must be installed. So, the procedure for resetting the device is as follows:

  • Linking Mi Band2 to your profile.
  • Open the Mi Fit app and sign in.
  • Untie the bracelet from the profile. To do this, in the Mi Fit application, select the "Unpair" option and click on it. The fitness tracker will be unlinked from the profile.

After the listed actions, the bracelet will not be in the user's list. The bracelet can now be linked to another user. To do this, the binding button is activated and the selection is confirmed once again by pressing the same button. After binding to a new profile, the bracelet will begin to vibrate, which means full reset settings.

If you cannot access the profile to which the fitness tracker is attached, then you cannot reset the settings using this method. In this case, some users recommend completely discharging the device. Considering the autonomy of the tracker, the battery will be completely discharged in a month, which is too long. Some users, at their own risk, recommend putting the e-capsule in the freezer, but there is no evidence to indicate the correctness of such actions and a positive result.

Above, we discussed how to reset the settings of Xiaomi Mi Band 2, and now let's move on to the cost of the device.

Gadget cost

The cost of a sports gadget ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 rubles. The unit can be purchased through online retailers or sporting goods stores.

Sports, fitness, health are a trend today, so it's no wonder why smart fitness bracelet xiaomi Mi Band gained such popularity, barely having time to hit the shelves of online stores. Let's take a look at this miracle of Chinese industry and figure out for ourselves whether it is really, if not irreplaceable, then at least useful thing, or just another trendy toy?

The appearance of the fitness bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band

The box is made in the corporate minimalist style - rough gray cardboard with a logo on the top lid, which will not be killed upon delivery

and specifications on the insert at the back

We have no interest in looking at the hieroglyphs, so I immediately opened the coveted box and appeared in front of my eyes ...

very interestingly organized packaging of the device. The product itself is immediately presented by the person in that form. how it will look later inserted into the bracelet. We open the box further

and take out the contents. The kit includes:

  • Smart bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band - has a waterproof case (IP67)
  • Black silicone strap with metal rivet
  • Charger
  • Instructions

Everything is very pleasant to the touch - and the fitness tracker itself, covered with brushed metal. When worn, it will inevitably rub against various pieces of furniture, but these contacts do not affect its appearance in any way. The strap is made of soft-touch silicone. There are enough holes to fit even the thinnest hand. The mount is made in the form of an ordinary metal "rivet" of the same material as the smart part of the gadget.

The head unit slot on the strap is very tightly fitted, so to insert it into place you need to make some efforts to stretch the strap - the device is installed like a glove.

In order to charge, you need to pull the device out of the strap and insert the contacts into the supplied charging dock - unfortunately, it is impossible to recharge the bracelet without removing it. Also, there is no power supply in the kit - you will have to use it from mobile phone.

In general, with regard to appearance, everything is done very decently and gives the impression of a high-quality device that does not have to be hidden under a shirt from friends. At the same time, the device is very light and does not remind of itself when worn.

How to connect Xiaomi Mi Band

Now let's figure out how to connect this Xiaomi Band to the phone and make it work. First of all, you need to download the application called "Mi Fit" - you can take it either from the search in the mobile application store, or by scanning the QR code from the instructions. There is a version of Mi Fit iOS and Android.

After installation, the program will immediately ask you for permission to receive data about your health and activities.

We give her these permissions and run the program. Before you get started, you need to create a Xiaomi account or log into an existing one. If you are the owner of a phone from this company or MIUI firmware for Android, about most likely you already have it - remember and enter.

And finally, the last stage of connection is to select Mi Band from the Xiaomi devices menu and wait until the smartphone connects to the bracelet - Bluetooth must be enabled on the phone.

Upon successful detection, the LEDs on your fitness tracker will blink - to confirm the connection, touch them with your finger.

But that's not all - in the future, when setting up a notification about calls, the device will once again ask you to "pair" with the phone.

Working with a bracelet

While working with the official application, I have noted five of the most useful functions. I am focusing on the "official" program, since there is a custom version for Android, in which there are much more possibilities for interacting with the bracelet. So, three of them are immediately presented in the main window of the program. First of all, it is a pedometer. Based on the entered data on height, age and weight, the tracker counts steps and converts them into kilometers traveled and calories burned. At the same time, he adequately distinguishes a step from a run, which is displayed in the final statistics.

Generally speaking, this is nothing new for iPhone users, as it has a similar built-in program that measures steps. The only thing is that we do not carry our phone with us everywhere, and the bracelet is always on our wrist and will not miss a single movement of yours. If you bring the bracelet to your face, the LEDs will light up, signaling the degree of fulfillment of the step plan for the day assigned during registration.

The second function is to track sleep phases. This feature uses an accelerometer that monitors the position of your hand and detects when you are sleeping soundly and when you are not sleeping very well. At the same time, you do not need to specifically switch it - the tracker itself recognizes when you fell asleep. All this information is displayed in the form of a graph and draws an overall picture of your night time. It is worth noting that there are inaccuracies in the work - for example, when you woke up early in the morning and then went to bed again, the tracker thinks that you have not gone to bed anymore and takes into account only the first part of sleep in statistics.

Another feature that is displayed on the main screen is physical activity. Here you can track changes in your weight, for example, in conjunction with the use of Xiaomi smart scales.

If all the previous chips are of interest only to inveterate losing weight and athletes, then more everyday functions that are useful to everyone are hidden in the settings menu. For example, an alarm clock. It has two modes of operation. The first one is classic, when you set the time for awakening, adjust its frequency, and at the appointed time you will wake up from a slight vibration on your wrist, without waking up the loud sound of others.

The second more interesting mode is the setting for triggering in the phase of shallow sleep, which is most favorable for waking up, which precedes the set time.

Another useful setting is the notification of incoming calls to the phone. If it lies somewhere far away, or is in silent mode, then you will always know about the vibration call. At the same time, the time after which the smart bracelet vibrates after the start of the call is adjusted. To be honest, I really only used the alarm clock and vibration alert - the rest is just for curiosity, nothing more.

Here it is just worth remembering about third party application- after all, in it you can configure informing not only about calls, but also about notifications from many different mobile applications, such as WhatsAp or Skype. It remains to be hoped that in the next update official version these opportunities will also appear.

In general, the bracelet, at its low cost, provides a lot of goodies that are not enough for a professional athlete, but can be useful in daily monitoring of their health for most users, while providing a few more useful functions for interacting with the phone.

After a week of use

Having used a smart bracelet for a week, or as it is also called, the first generation Xiaomi Mi Band fitness tracker came to the conclusion that in reality it is just fashionable garbage. In addition to the vibration alarm, it does not carry any useful functions. Android owners are still lucky with the notification from various applications, but I have an iPhone, and only a notification about phone calls... There is a pedometer in many smartphones, so my verdict is as follows - waiting for the start of sales of the second generation with a built-in heart rate monitor.

Fitness Tracker:

  • Accelerometer: ADXL362
  • Bluetooth module: Dialog DA14580, supports Bluetooth 4.0 and 4.1
  • Battery: Li-Po 41 mAh
  • Weight: 5 grams
  • Material: Aluminum + Plastic

Strap:

  • Weight: 8.5 grams
  • Material: Thermoplastic Silicone Vulcanizate (TPSiV)
  • Size: 230mm
  • Adjustable length: 157-205mm

Functions:

  • Pedometer
  • Distance covered
  • Calories burned
  • Sleep tracker
  • Smart Alarm, wakes up in light sleep phase (Non-REM / N2)
  • Unlocking your phone with a bracelet (MIUI v6)
  • Vibration at incoming call(from 3 sec.)
  • Setting achievements in terms of the number of steps taken
  • 30 days autonomous work
  • Waterproof IP67

Phone requirements:

  • Android 4.3+ (Supports Bluetooth 4.0 low power feature in Android 4.3 API)
  • Bluetooth 4.0 (Basic protocol for communication with the bracelet)

This time I ordered Mi Band not on my beloved AliExpress, but in the GearBest store, since unlike trading platform the online store gives guarantees of the authenticity of the gadgets, and to be honest, I recent times it became somehow too lazy to check the honesty of the sellers on Ali.

Unfortunately, there was no instruction in Russian in the box with the proprietary Mi band 2. Not all owners know English, so the Russian-language manual will be useful to many users.

Achievements

Achievements is one of the main sections in the Mi Fit interface. Here is the data on the achievement of goals. You can send information about your progress to social network or Telegram messenger.
