The screen is big and, although not AMOLED, but quite high-quality. - Perhaps - one of the longest-playing android phones (the battery is already 2500 milliamperes and not the most gluttonous processor)

Huge screen. It is very convenient to surf the Internet - Good sensor - Beautiful menu (for the first time I held a smartphone on a bucket in my hands, I was delighted) - SMS messages like in an iPhone, in the form of a chat - 2 SIM cards

Android dvuhsimochnik. Powerful processor... Good battery.

Screen size - it is convenient to read books, view presentations, watch movies, in general, everything for which people usually buy tablets for themselves. Yes, forgive me the makovods, but the iPhone next to such a unit looks small and frivolous. 2 SIM cards are the second huge plus of this phone, few models have such a function. Quite a decent camera, slight deviations in color reproduction and lack of saturation. A wildly loud speaker, recklessly on the first day, set the sound to maximum, the whole office went about stuttering all day. For the first couple of months, the battery lasted a very long time, in a relatively quiet mode (2-3 hours with the included Wi-Fi, 1-1.5 reading a book) was enough for 3 days. But now it's time to change, the battery is swollen and lasts no more than a day. It's nice that it allows you to test the newest pr

Screen size, battery, 2 sim, connection quality.

The assembly is of high quality, there is no feeling of cheap noname china. The screen is sufficient and does not tire the eyes. the sound is good, of course subjective, the call is loud. the camera is quite average. Internet on Wi-Fi is stable, bluetooth without problems all day, I have not lost the connection. the cellular network keeps well in urban conditions. was bought as a two-SIM device, with all the advantages for this money, its size and weight make ergonomics controversial. I'm not comfortable looking required contact driving, answering SMS and the like. it is really huge, but as a small tablet it is very convenient for travel. The conclusion is this: I will again carry a working tube and this device as a replacement for the tablet.

Big screen! at first it seems huge and inconvenient, but on the second day you get used to it - Android - decent camera with autofocus and flash - flashlight :) - large battery - wi-fi, 3g, gps

Large screen, not Super Amoled, but pleasing to the eye. 2 sim. I use one slot for a SIM card with a purely Internet tariff, which I really like. The battery holds until the evening at full load! Rubberized back cover... Does not slip in your hands.

    1. Screen size 2. Capacious battery 3. Reasonable price 4. Strong body, soft touch plastic.

    1. It is very difficult to find accessories due to its size. The banal cover had to be ordered over the Internet and it cost 900 re.
    2. Android 2.3 and updates will not, does not hold flash, does not treat popular applications such as Skype and the VKontakte client.
    3. Extremely inadequate manufacturer. Comrades from Texet threw their users, stopping support for the device a year after the release, and did not provide Russian market consumables to it. Screens, batteries, etc. no and never will. Drop it - buy a new phone.
    4. Inadequately small amount of built-in memory, which with a bunch of pre-installed system applications from Yandex is fatal. Everything that I installed myself was transferred to the sd card, but even if you need to update something, there is often not enough space, and you need to

The performance is badly lacking, the most severe hang-ups when entering the call menu and trying to call a subscriber.
The reason why you have to change the device is that after 5 months of use the top panel of the case has moved away (by 1-2 mm), I don't see any point in repairing cheap equipment, so I will take something new for myself.

Processor, manufacturer support, BT glitches, GPS, memory.

battery indicator, incorrect. photos are poor. these disadvantages are not important if a device of this size is convenient for you.

Due to its size, it is not very convenient to wear it, although it is just right in the pocket of a coat or jacket.
    - there is not enough own memory, but there is no memory card in the kit, that is, you can immediately add it to the price, because without a card, multimedia functions do not make sense - the photo is saved only on it, etc.
    - non-obvious way to open the case

The processor is rather weak. "No" technical support - no accessories or spare parts can be found.

Positioning

It seems that the "overgrown smartphones" really liked users, given that in just five months since the start of sales, more than 5 million Samsung have been sold worldwide. Galaxy Note... It seems to me that this is an impressive figure for this type of device. Some vendors, for example, LG, realized that since Samsung managed to do something like this with their "laptop", we can do it too. Therefore, at the world exhibition Mobile World Congress 2012, they hurried to show their vision of tablets-"Lilliputians" in the person of Optimus Vu. True, he has no magic pen S Pen and lower display resolution, but there is a large screen and the ability to make calls like on a regular phone.

But today we are not talking about Hi-End-smartphones, but about a relatively budget analogue of the above gadgets - TM-5200 - “smartphone-mini-tablet”, as it is called in “Alkotel Electronic Systems”, which owns the teXet brand. One of the main advantages of the novelty is a large 5.25-inch display made using capacitive technology. In addition, it is equipped with two slots for installing SIM-cards, there is a 5-megapixel camera that records video with autofocus and electronic stabilization. Unfortunately, two factors can be a stumbling block. The first is that it uses the Taiwanese MTK6573 chipset with clock frequency the processor is only 800 MHz, the second is the screen resolution: despite the large diagonal, it is 480x800 pixels. Such is the explosive mixture ...

At the moment teXet TM-5200 is sold at a price of about 10,000 rubles.

Design, dimensions, controls

For a smartphone, the "mini-tablet" is rather large: in length and width - 150x82 mm, but the width, in my opinion, is not as large as it seems - 12.3 mm. Compared to dimensions Samsung Galaxy Note, it is 146.9x83 mm thick, 9.7 mm thick, and weighs 178 grams, versus teXet's 213. In the hand, both feel about the same, but in size, even visually, the TM-5200 is clearly larger.

If we talk about where and how to wear such a "block", then the easiest thing is in the inner pocket of a jacket or jacket. For pockets of jeans, trousers, and especially a shirt, it is too big and heavy.

The shape of the body is rectangular, with smooth edges. Two types of materials are used: the edging is made of metal, painted in bronze; back side - plastic covered with soft-touch. The paint on the edging, unfortunately, will peel off over time: a scuff appeared on the left end, and when I slightly scratched it with my fingernail, the dark metal was exposed.

The display is protected by ordinary plastic. By the way, the body is made in such a way that the top and bottom edges rise slightly above the front side (small sides), thereby preventing any surface from directly touching the display. However, in general, the assembly is very good: the back side does not play, it does not bend to the battery, and when it is squeezed strongly, it does not crunch or creak.

Fingerprints are only noticeable on the display, but they are easily erased.

The front panel contains front-camera, light and proximity sensors, indicator of missed events (flashes blue or lights up red when the battery is charging), speech speaker. Its volume is very high, there is a decent margin, the interlocutor can be heard clearly and legibly, the timbre is pleasant, although a little too high.

Under the screen are traditional android buttons: "Home", call the context menu, "Back" and "Search". They are sensory, the sensitivity is good enough. Have dim white backlighting. Under the buttons there is an arched mechanical key to exit to " Main screen»Or start displaying all desktops in Yandex.Shell. The pressing is soft, the stroke is small, there is a quiet "click" sound. Frankly, you could do without it. For example, for the entire time of testing the device, I clicked on it no more than 10 times. However, in any case, an interesting "trick". The microphone is to the right of this button.

At the bottom end there are no elements, at the top there is a standard 3.5 mm audio-out for headphones, a microUSB-connector and a power button. On the left - the screen rotation lock (its presence is somewhat strange), the volume rocker key. On the right is a special port for connecting any accessories in the future. It is covered with a removable plastic cap, although it is fastened in the grooves quite firmly, there is still a large percentage of the fact that the cap will pop out and be lost. Apparently, that's why the kit comes with an additional one.

On the back there is a camera peephole, a one-section LED flash and a speakerphone.

To open the lid, it must be pryed off by the ledge located at the rear right. The memory card slot is above the battery, but hot swapping is not provided, which is a pity. To the right - connectors for sim cards: SIM1 - from below (only 2G), SIM2 - from above (2G / 3G).

Display

Perhaps one of the main advantages of this model is its display. It has a large 5.27-inch diagonal. Have Samsung Note about the same diagonal as Acer Iconia Smart - 4.8 inches. Unfortunately, the screen resolution remains at the level of mid-budget smartphones and is 480x800 pixels, while the density is 177 dpi. For example, Galaxy Note - 286 ppi, Iconia Smart - 235 ppi. However, do not forget that these gadgets have a higher price tag - 15,000 rubles.

Matrix - TFT-LCD, capable of displaying (in my opinion, since the manufacturer does not indicate the number) 262 thousand color shades. The sensor is made using capacitive technology with up to 5 simultaneous touches. The sensitivity is comparable to the Acer Iconia, i.e. pretty good. The viewing angles are small, because when the screen is tilted towards you, the colors are sharply inverted. In other cases, the brightness and contrast drop. It fades in the sun, information is difficult to read.

Despite such low parameters of the screen, on the whole he left a pleasant impression: as they say, "it has been worse."

The brightness can be adjusted automatically thanks to the light sensor (CM3623). The control range is large: from almost complete absence of backlighting to comfortable for indoor or office conditions. The proximity sensor is responsible for locking the screen when you bring the device to your ear. He copes with his task perfectly - he responds clearly and quickly. The device contains a three-axis magnetometer (MMC328x) and an accelerometer (MT6516).

In the settings, auto-rotate and illumination of the touch buttons are enabled or disabled, the screen auto-off value is set.

Battery

In addition to the hefty screen, the owners are in for another surprise - it uses a removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery with a capacity of as much as 2500 mAh (3.7V, 9.24Wh). The same battery capacity is found in the Samsung Galaxy Note. I think those who complained about the short life time of Android smartphones will finally forget about it with the TM-5200. In standby mode, the gadget lay for more than two weeks (sometimes SMS came), in the talk mode it worked for about 10-12 hours, in the data transfer mode via Wi-Fi - up to 12 hours, in the data transfer mode via 3G a little less - 9-10 hours , in the video playback mode at maximum brightness and volume (in headphones) - about 8 hours. If you use the phone for about 2 - 2.5 days, the battery will be completely discharged provided: 15-20 minutes of talks a day, three hours of using Wi-Fi Internet (Twitter, mail, downloading applications and installing them), about five hours mobile internet while listening to music (a couple of hours) and an hour of watching video. Great energy saving results!

Alas, it was not without "tar": the battery is discharged not quite evenly, for example, having reached about 50%, the battery starts to discharge about two to three times faster. This is clearly visible in the graph below. However, I don't see anything terrible in such a case.

The battery is charged from USB in three hours, from the mains - in one and a half. The charge voltage is 4.2V.

Communication capabilities

The phone works in cellular networks 2G (GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz). In this case, one SIM card functions only in 2G, the other - in 2G or 3G. The sensitivity of the receiver is not bad, it stably shows 4-5 divisions (out of 5), in the worst case - 2-3.

In stock Bluetooth version 2.1 (EDR) for file and voice transmission. There were no problems with connecting headsets: it connects quickly, and speech is transmitted relatively cleanly. There is a wireless Wi-Fi connection IEEE 802.11 b / g / n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or a modem. In the settings, this item is listed as "Modem mode". There were no connection problems, sensitivity Wi-Fi high: for example, at a distance of 5 meters (behind the wall) from the router I confidently showed 3-4 "sticks".

USB 2.0 (High-Speed) is used for file transfer and data synchronization. When Highscreen HD is connected to a PC, it is detected as a USB-Flash-device or USB-modem.

In the "Settings of wireless modules" in the section " Mobile network»There are the following items:

  • The amount of data transferred. You must select one of the sim cards
  • Network mode. For SIM1, it is indicated in which mode it will work: automatically switch between GSM / WCDMA, only WCDMA or GSM
  • Access points (APN)
  • Telecom operators

Memory and memory card

The smartphone is equipped with 512 MB of RAM. It is quite enough for most tasks, but it is advisable to remove applications from memory more often. In this case, if "brakes" appear, it is not because of a lack of RAM, but because of a "weak" processor. A similar situation observed on Highscreen Yummy.

By default, out of 512 MB of memory, 370 are available, free on average about 200 MB. Only about 200 MB of Flash memory is allocated for the installation of programs; unfortunately, there is no microSD in the kit. So, when buying a mini-tablet, you will also have to buy a memory card. Its maximum volume can be up to 32 GB. I used 8 GB microSDHC class 6. The device "digested" the "microsdisk" normally.

Back to content >>>

Camera

The teXet TM-5200 uses a 5 megapixel AF sensor. There is a single section LED backlight and a front VGA camera. The maximum photo resolution is 2560x1920 pixels, the video resolution is 864x480 pixels at 25 frames per second - not bad, considering that most competitors write either 640x480 or 720x480 pixels.

The quality of the photos is one to one, like on Highscreen Yummy, the impression is that the same module is used: portrait and macro photos come out very well, and landscape photos are somewhat blurry. I liked the quality of the video more than the photo: at least, it's not at all a shame to show your friends or colleagues the videos recorded on, besides, the electronic stabilizer and automatic focus work.

The camera is launched through the menu using a shortcut (on such a huge case, a separate button could be provided). Focusing is carried out by pressing the screen ("touch focus"). The interface looks as follows: on the right - switching to a video camera, selecting a backlight mode, activating the shutter, effects, entering the gallery; left - digital zoom and switching to the front camera.

  • Exposure compensation (+ 1.0, -1)
  • Shooting mode (auto, portrait, action, landscape, night, night portrait, stage, beach, snow, sunset, sharpness, fireworks, sports, party and candlelight)

Performance

Smartphone mini-tablet, as well as Highscreen Yummy and Fly Firebird, is assembled on the Taiwanese platform by MediaTek MT6573. Their processor is ARM 11 (ARMv6) with a clock speed of 650 MHz (although the TM-5200 specs indicate 800 MHz).

PowerVR SGX 531 acts as a graphics accelerator. Supports: OpenGL 2.0, Microsoft Shader Model 3. Most games with simple graphics run without problems.

Below is a list of toys (as an example of the capabilities of a 3D accelerator) that I launched on Texet:

  • Angry Birds (loads about 30 seconds, slows down a little at the beginning of the "bombing" and at the end)
  • Gloomy Dungeons (no problem)
  • Racing mania (no problem)
  • Raging Thunder (sometimes slows down)
  • Top Truck (in a single race everything is fine, in other cases the number of frames drops to 10-15)
  • CK Zombies (slow down, sometimes crash)

On the whole, the device works quite stably; during testing, no critical errors, freezes or other unpleasant things were noticed. The menu does not slow down, and the interface functions relatively smoothly.

Navigation

In a smartphone TM-5200 there is a GPS navigator. In the settings, you have the right to enable EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit) mode - one of the innovative proprietary technologies of A-GPS MediaTek based on stand-alone servers. It supports prediction of satellite orbits for up to 30 days, they can be used to reduce the time to determine GPS coordinates. "Cold" start - about 5-6 minutes, "hot" - up to 20 seconds. To work with maps, the device has installed programs: Maps, Navigator and City Guide (the key is included in the kit).

Software platform and shell

The teXet TM-5200 smartphone works on operating system Google Android version 2.3.5. The test device contains the software version of the communication module MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V4 from 2012.01.31, kernel version - 2.6.35.7, build number - GINGERBREAD.rus.teXet.20120316.1050119.

The free Yandex.Shell launcher is used as a shell. One of its "chips" - a voluminous work table, activated by a central mechanical button. There are several virtual desktops, many widgets and settings, including you can make it look like on tablets: horizontal orientation, miniature shortcuts, and so on. I use this shell on almost all Android devices - it is convenient, fast and not buggy.

We should also say thank you to the developers for making a rather large font in all menus and settings (the same was implemented in Highscreen Yummy).

"Dvuhsimochnost" and the phone book

In standby mode, you can receive calls to both SIM cards at the same time, but talk only one by one, the second will be unavailable, since there is only one radio module.

The dialer is large. When dialing a number, those subscribers whose numbers start with these digits are displayed from above. The only gripe (again, remembering Highscreen Yummy): all numbers are displayed in an unusual form, for example, the number 8-916-222-22-22 is displayed as 891-622-22-222.

After pressing Send Call, you need to select a SIM card. The nice thing is that the SIM cards are not designated as SIM1 / SIM2, but by the names of the operators.

In the "Calls" section, the subscriber's name, his number, operator, time are displayed. At the top right there is a button, when you click on it, a menu appears. It sorts contacts in the "Calls" section by resource: SIM1 / SIM2.

If you use the phone for about 2 - 2.5 days, the battery will be completely discharged provided: 15-20 minutes of talks a day, three hours of using Wi-Fi Internet (Twitter, mail, downloading applications and installing them), about five hours of mobile Internet with simultaneous listening to music (a couple of hours) and an hour of watching video.

The phone works in 2G (GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz) cellular networks. In this case, one SIM card functions only in 2G, the other - in 2G or 3G. The sensitivity of the receiver is not bad, it stably shows 4-5 divisions (out of 5), in the worst case - 2-3.

Available Bluetooth version 2.1 (EDR) for file and voice transmission. There were no problems with connecting headsets: it connects quickly, and speech is transmitted relatively cleanly. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g / n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or a modem. In the settings, this item is listed as "Modem mode". There were no problems with the connection, the Wi-Fi sensitivity is high: for example, at a distance of 5 meters (behind the wall) from the teXet TM-5200 router it confidently showed 3-4 "sticks".

USB 2.0 (High-Speed) is used for file transfer and data synchronization. When Highscreen HD is connected to a PC, it is detected as a USB-Flash-device or USB-modem.

In the "Settings of wireless modules" in the section "Mobile network" there are the following items:

  • The amount of data transferred. You must select one of the sim cards
  • Network mode. For SIM1, it is indicated in which mode it will work: automatically switch between GSM / WCDMA, only WCDMA or GSM
  • Access points (APN)
  • Telecom operators

Memory and memory card

The smartphone is equipped with 512 MB of RAM. It is quite enough for most tasks, but it is advisable to remove applications from memory more often. In this case, if "brakes" appear, it is not because of a lack of RAM, but because of a "weak" processor. A similar situation is observed on Highscreen Yummy.

The quality of photos is one to one, like on Highscreen Yummy, the impression is that the same module is used: portrait and macro photos come out very well, and landscape photos are somewhat blurry. I liked the quality of the video more than the photo: at least, it's not at all a shame to show your friends or colleagues the clips recorded on the TM-5200, besides, the electronic stabilizer and automatic focus work.

Photo settings:

  • Exposure compensation (+ 1.0, -1)

Performance

The teXet TM-5200 mini-tablet smartphone, as well as the Highscreen Yummy and Fly Firebird, is assembled on the platform of the Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek MT6573.

Brief technical information:

Quadrant Standart

Navigation

The smartphone has a GPS navigator.

The teXet TM-5200 smartphone runs on an operating system Google android version 2.3.5.

In the "Calls" section, the subscriber's name, his number, operator, time are displayed. At the top right there is a button, when you click on it, a menu appears. It sorts contacts in the "Calls" section by resource: SIM1 / SIM2.

Contacts... The subscriber's name and avatar are displayed. On the right - a quick search by letter, on the top left you need to select contact lists, on the right - search and add a new contact.

Web browser

Standard web browser. It does not work very quickly, but on big screen it is convenient to read news, reviews and other information. There is no Flash in the device, since the processor has an ARMv6 architecture.

Multimedia

Music player

The standard Android music player. The tracks in the player are organized by artist, album, track and playlist. When playing music, the following elements are displayed on the screen: a small album cover, artist name and album name, below - the player control buttons. In the settings: enter the library, create a mix, add to a playlist, set a melody as a ringtone, delete and sound effects (bass boost, virtualizer, reverb and equalizer, represented by several presets).

Audio playback formats: AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MP3, MIDI, OGG, PCM / WAVE

The speaker volume is high enough not to miss a call in a noisy place. It may wheeze a little when playing music.

The sound quality in the headphones is surprisingly good, though a little lacking low frequencies(Turning on the "bass boost" effect only makes the sound worse). The volume is high: the player easily shakes "ears" like the Sennheiser HD512.

FM radio

The receiver operates at frequencies 87.5 - 107.8 MHz. To listen, you will have to connect a headset or headphones - they act as an antenna. The numbers of the current frequency are displayed at the top, and the tuning, the list of channels and the addition of the radio station to the "favorites" are displayed at the bottom. The sensitivity is average. When you switch music to the speaker, unfortunately, it does not turn off in the headphones.

Video player

The situation with video files is the same as in Yummy. By default, the standard player only understands 3GP and MP4. I was unable to play other file formats with third party video players (installed MX Video player application). The teXet TM-5200 copes with the following parameters of rollers easily:

  • AVI (MPEG4 1500 Kbps, 704x528, MPEG Audio 256 Kbps)
  • AVI (MPEG4 3000 Kbps, 720x400 Pixels, AC3 192 Kbps)
  • FLV (AVC 2000 Kbps, 720x480 pixels, AAC 256 Kbps)
  • MP4 (AVC 1000 Kbps, 480x360 pixels, AAC 125 Kbps)

In simple terms, almost any DVD rips will be played on this smartphone.

Conclusion

The connection quality was a pleasant surprise: where many smartphones lost their network, teXet TM-5200 confidently showed 1-2 divisions on the network indicator. Despite the rather impressive dimensions, the vibration motor did not disappoint, you can feel it in the pocket of a light jacket.

Such devices can be classified as "mini-tablets", and it is not entirely correct to compare them with ordinary smartphones. Buyers of such devices would like to see in them the presence of large screens, but confused by the dimensions of 7-10-inch tablets. For example, I have an iPad 2, which is a pleasure to use at home or in the office. But as soon as you go beyond the threshold, mobility is immediately lost. It has to be removed from a bag or backpack, uncovered (which is not very convenient to do with one hand). Another thing is a "mini-tablet": I took it out of my pocket - and use it to your health.

The teXet TM-5200 device made an exceptionally good impression on me: a solid case with an ergonomic design, a large screen diagonal with a good matrix, an autofocus camera and a long-lasting battery. Recommend.
