Almost all car CD players have one problem - stuck discs. Since they are installed inside the car itself, they can only be reached from one side, unless, of course, you are ready to remove and disassemble the player itself. A stuck disc in the player is a rather annoying problem. Fortunately, there are several options for dealing with this type of headache. However, notice that if you do something wrong, you can damage the player (or the disc will remain inside). In any case, the advice in this article does not replace the authoritative opinion of an automotive expert.
Steps
Using the power and eject buttons
Switch off the vehicle. Some players have a "force eject" feature designed specifically to eject a disc when other methods fail. Since this method eliminates direct penetration into the inside of the player itself, it is smart enough to start with this, - in any case, you do not lose anything. First of all, switch off the car if you have not already done so.
As soon as the car has calmed down, you must simultaneously press the "power" button on the player and the "eject disc" button and hold them for ten seconds. If your player supports the "force eject" function, the disc will pop out at the same time.
If that doesn't work, start the car again. Some CD players may not work while the machine is turned off. After turning it on, try also pressing and holding the same buttons: "Power" and "Force-eject".
Take a look at the player's instructions. In general, the combination of the above buttons is a single force eject command for all players, however many CD players may use other buttons to eject a jammed disc. If the problem still exists, check the instructions that came with the player, there should be information about the functions with which you can remove the disc.
Using an additional disk
- Turn on your player before starting. If you need to start the car for this, start it.
- Note: In this method, as in several others mentioned in this article, there is a risk of damage to both the stuck disc and the player itself. Be careful when inserting any foreign objects into the player. If you doubt your abilities, then it is better to contact the masters.

Insert the second disc into the opening 2-3 cm. This disc should be on top of the jammed one. You can feel the stuck disc by sliding over it with whatever you have in your hand.
While gently rocking the disc, press the Eject button. Thus, you are forcing the jammed disc to forcefully affect the mechanism of the player, which is responsible for ejecting the discs. When you feel that the jammed disc has started to come out, make sure that it does not get caught between the other disc and the edge of the disc opening.
- If that doesn't work, try slipping a disc under the jammed disc while gently lifting it up. Turntables can have different ejection mechanisms, so sometimes upward pressure on the disc may be more effective than the other way around.

Press lightly on the disc. Sometimes, pressing it lightly can help the disc rev up. If the turntable is closer to the top surface of the dashboard, repeat all steps of this method by pressing or tapping on the dashboard area neat but firm.
- Notice Despite a successful result, use extreme caution when tapping, as the sensitive parts in the center of the panel can be damaged. This method is not recommended if GPS or something similar is installed between the player and the top of the panel.
Take a blank or just unnecessary disc. This method requires you to insert a second disc into the player. In order not to spoil the disc that you like, get out a blank disc or any other disc that you no longer really need.
Reconnecting the power supply

Record all radio and audio settings. This method is used if you cannot get the disc and your CD player will no longer turn on. The method consists in disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply of the player. At the same time, most players will lose all radio and audio settings, returning to the default settings. If you are a big fan of music in the car, be sure to record your Personal settings and you can restore them later.
Stop the car and open the hood. Working with electrical system vehicle, take all precautions to avoid electric shock. After stopping the car, remove the keys from the ignition switch, open the hood to access the battery.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. The negative terminal of the battery is black, the positive terminal is red. In some cases, you may need a small wrench or pliers to loosen the nut and disconnect the wire.
Wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the terminal. Then start the car and try to remove the disc as usual. Disconnecting and reconnecting the power of the CD player may reset its factory settings, which, in some cases, may restore its eject function.
If the player still does not turn on, replace the fuse. Please refer to the user manual. Often the fuse box is located behind dashboard on the driver's side. Disconnect the battery. Remove the protective cover from the fuse box, replace any player fuse that may have blown.
Using a knife or chips and tape
- Note: Just like the other methods described in this article, this method carries the risk of damaging the stuck disc or the CD player itself. If you don't want to risk your property, take your car to a professional for repair.

Wrap the tape (sticky side out) over the edge of a spatula (or similar object). The tape should be strong, Gorilla tape will work well for good results. The spatulas are usually tapered, so the tape should not slide off. If you are using a different shape, such as a popsicle stick, glue the tape to the measure first, then wrap it around a few times, turn the tape over, and rotate it a few more turns so that it adheres firmly to the item.
Glue a piece of tissue paper to one side of the knife. A knife wrapped in duct tape will be difficult to fit into the player. The paper will smooth one side of the knife. Glue printer paper or colored paper to the knife and cut it with scissors to fit the knife.
Be careful not to get an electric shock. Insert a long flat knife or similar object directly into the player. Metal knives conduct electricity, so if you have a suitable piece of wood or plastic (like a popsicle stick), use it. If not, make sure the player is disconnected from the power sources, turn off the car, turn off the player and disconnect the negative terminal from the car battery.
Dear colleagues. Recently, a friend of mine who works in a photo studio called me and told me about such a problem. Brought them DVD disc to print photos from it, but after the disc was inserted into the drive, the computer freezes, the drive does not respond to any action, and it is not possible to remove the disc.
Let's try to figure out what can be done in this situation and how to remove the disc from the drive.
Situation 1.
Suppose you inserted a disc that your computer could not recognize or "read". You want to eject a disc, but the drive has stopped responding to a button press.
First of all, open the "My Computer" folder, find the device into which you inserted the disc, right-click on it and select "Eject" from the drop-down menu:
If this does not help, restart your computer and try ejecting the disc by pressing the drive button, before booting operating system... If the drive does not respond, wait until the operating system is fully loaded and try again to eject the disc using the menu in the "My Computer" folder.
Situation 2
You inserted a disc, after that the drive stopped responding to your attempts to eject the disc, and when you open the "My Computer" folder, there is an empty space instead of the drive icon. First of all, try restarting your computer and try to eject the disc before the system boots.
If this does not help, after loading the operating system, check whether your drive is detected and whether the drive icon appears in the "My Computer" folder. If the icon does not appear, try using System Restore to restore your computer to an earlier state.
If you are unable to use the system restore function (for example, if it is disabled), or the restoration did not work, try removing and reconnecting your drive. This is how it is done. Open the device manager and find our floppy drive:
Select it and at the top click on the "Action" item, and in the drop-down menu, select "Delete". In the window that opens, click OK and complete the removal of the device:
Reboot your computer.
After rebooting the operating room Windows systems the device will be detected and reinstalled.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
If you are not prompted to restart your computer, follow these steps.
From the Action menu in Device Manager, select the Update hardware configuration option.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
After your drive is identified by the operating system and appears in the my computer folder, try to eject the disc using the menu of the “My computer” folder or by pressing the button.
Situation 3.
You inserted a disc and the computer is completely frozen. Neither reboot nor other manipulations help. Then do the following. Turn off your computer. Take a thin metal object (a thin needle, a large needle, or a piece of a straightened paper clip). Look for a small hole on the front of the CD / DVD, as shown in the picture:
Then you insert a needle (or other metal object) into this hole and start pressing. The more you press down, the more the disc tray ejects. The main thing is to press in the needle evenly, because you may not get on the lever that is responsible for ejecting the disc. Then, when the tray is pulled out enough, pull it out completely by hand, remove the disc and push the tray back in.
Reboot your computer and check the performance of your drive. If after removing the disc your drive still refuses to work normally, then it is possible that it is out of order and either it needs to be replaced or repaired.
By the way, the last method of ejecting the disc can come in handy when there is no way to turn on the computer (for example, due to a lack of electricity in the network), but you urgently need disk which is in your floppy drive.

If you do not have the desired result, locate a small round hole with a diameter of 1.0-1.5 mm on the front of the actuator. Insert a needle into it at a right angle and push. When placed on the CD-ROM, it will open and the disc will become available.

Have you ever had a disc stuck in the drive and you do not know what to do if the drive does not open? I will tell you how to solve this problem in this article.
Why won't the drive open?
Do you think that the topic of disk drives is no longer relevant, since today very few people use them? I'm ready to object.
Discs remaining from the times of their popularity are often covered with dust and have scratches, and after a long period of inactivity they may not work correctly. And if you suddenly want to use them, chances are high that the disc will get stuck.
By the way, be careful with old and especially low-quality disks: they can burst inside the drive. In general, check for dust, scratches and cracks before inserting them. And make sure that they fit correctly into the tray, otherwise, because of this, the drive often does not give discs.
However, the drive is not the only cause of the problem. Sometimes new drives also fail. There are software glitches or just suddenly turn off the electricity, and you urgently need to give the disk (for example, to your neighbor :)). Be that as it may, I propose to move on to resolving this situation.
How do I get the disc?
Let's start with the most commonplace ways:
- Have you tried pressing the opening button several times in a row? Did not help? Then let's move on.
- Turn off your computer, wait a few minutes, and then turn it on. This helps when the drive freezes and a reboot restarts it.
- Use the system tools: go to the "My Computer" folder, right-click on the device and select "Eject".
None of the described options worked, or do you need to get the drive out of the turned off computer? I have methods in stock that involve mechanical action.
Mechanical methods
Try some of this:
- Take a paper clip, wire, or needle. The actuator has a special hole for emergency opening with a diameter just for the listed tools. You just need to insert the needle into the hole and push a little, with a jogging motion.
Do you have a slot loading drive? They usually do not have such holes, so you can not search. If there is an emergency button, then it is usually touch-sensitive, which does not help in the case of a non-working computer.
- When the device jams due to the fact that the disc is not properly seated inside, you often need a little help to open it. To do this, take an object like a knife, only with a blunt end so as not to scratch anything, you can also use a coin. And prying the device with them from different sides, simultaneously press the button to open it.
There are times when the drive itself is not displayed in the system. Has your computer recently been repaired or crashed? Maybe the floppy cable just came off and that's why it doesn't work? If you have a stationary PC, unscrew the side or rear panel of the system unit, find the power cord and ribbon cable, check if they are securely inserted (this is of course a very rare case, but it can still be).
- In the case of a laptop, it is necessary to unscrew all the rear plastic or only in the drive area.
Nothing helped?
Then you will have to carry the drive to the service center, or unwind it yourself (maybe someday I will write an article about this). By the way, if the price is bent for repairs, then I advise you not to spend money on it, but buy a new drive, since it is not so expensive.
