By default, pictures are displayed there in the form of a 3x4 matrix preview, but it is also available for viewing in full screen and in the form of a slideshow. During viewing, any photo can be sent as an attachment in MMS or e-mail, published on Facebook or Twitter. A graphic editor is also available from this menu, in which you can change the size of the image, write text over it, and frame it.
Video in the phone is recorded in a maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels at a speed of 8 frames per second, with a lower recording resolution the speed will be equal to 15 frames per second. The clips are saved in 3GP format. The duration of the recording is limited only by the amount of free space in the phone's memory or on the memory card (depending on where you chose to save by default). And now clips recorded in MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, 3GP formats are available for playback. The video player has a very ascetic interface, but it allows you to watch videos in both portrait and landscape orientations.
The built-in audio player of the phone allows you to play music in AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3, MP4, WMA formats. The central navigation key is used to control playback and change the volume. As for the possibilities for adjusting the sound, there is an equalizer with five preset values and two customizable. The player can work in the background. If we compare it, for example, with the Walkman musical devices from Sony Ericsson, then it will not be of any interest, but as a player in an absolutely non-musical phone, it has shown itself quite well. The phone also has an FM radio with RDS function and a memory for 20 radio stations.
Advantages and disadvantages
During the operation of the phone, the following shortcomings were identified:
- very weak vibration alert;
- the ringer volume, even if the increasing mode is not set, will still be very quiet at the very beginning, but then equalize;
- there are no volume control buttons on the case;
- there is no multitasking;
- modest equipment;
- the deceptive presence of a metal edging on the case.

Nokia knows how to make comfortable phones, the C2-01 model is no exception to the rule. This is a candy bar in the usual size for its class, which goes well with both business and more casual clothing styles. This means that the model will be equally well demanded by users with different social statuses.
There are two color options for the case, these are black and golden shades. The latter is called "warm silver" and is more ornate. Whereas the first can be attributed to a more universal, and therefore popular modification.
The dimensions of the phone are 109.6x46.9x15.3 mm, the weight is 89 g. The monoblock is quite chubby, although it cannot be called fat. The phone lies freely in a jeans pocket, if desired, you can carry it in a shirt pocket.
The design of the device with a claim to solidity - a pseudo-chrome bezel around the front of the screen creates the effect of a metal part. Due to her, the phone looks more expensive than it really is. But all this is an external effect, it is enough to take the device in hand, and that very aura disappears.
The phone display is covered with black glossy plastic. At the top is a thin slot for the earpiece.
Below the screen is a block of control keys and a keyboard. The first ones are on a black plastic insert. There are a couple of soft buttons on it. Whereas the elements for receiving and ending a call with red and green icons printed on them represent separate keys. They are not very large, but they have a convenient convex shape, it is convenient to press on them.
In the center there is a 5-way navigation key with a small and clear stroke. It is edged with silver plastic, its center is slightly recessed.
The keyboard consists of 12 buttons arranged 3 in a row. They are large in size (14x6 mm). The embossed shape allows you to comfortably type text on your phone, acting without mistakes. Presses are accompanied by soft clicks. The symbols are drawn in white, they are perfectly readable against a dark background. White illumination, pleasant to the eyes, works in the dark.
At the top you can see a standard 3.5 mm jack and a "thin" charger hole. By the way, the phone can also be charged from a microUSB device.

Screen
The phone is equipped with a TFT-screen with a diagonal of 2 inches, which displays up to 262K colors. Its resolution is 240x320 pixels.
The display is of rather poor quality. Brightness is enough for comfortable work with the device indoors, outdoors the picture fades under the sun, but remains readable.
The viewing angles are average, the image fades especially strongly, if you turn the phone to the right. The display is covered with plastic, which to some extent resists the appearance of scratches. The image is dim, the colors are faded, there is no way to manually adjust the brightness of the display.
Interface
Nokia C2-01 is based on Series 40 6th edition platform. Indicators of cellular network signal reception, battery charge, time, date are displayed on the desktop, the mode selected by the user is displayed. It ranges from simple, with a minimal amount of information to be displayed, to rich in a variety of data, similar to devices on the Series 60.
The desktop can display 3 rows of widgets and shortcuts, each of which can be assigned the desired function by choosing from among various applications. Among them are: favorite contacts, calendar, note, timer, link bar, search, mail, radio and music, communities, notifications, chat. You can move links across the screen at your discretion, choosing the design that is most convenient for you.
In order to enter the menu, you need to press the center of the navigation key. The right and left soft keys give additional access to other applications. Initially, they are assigned access to the phone book and shortcut menu. It represents icons of various applications, you can choose from more than 60 functions, adding the necessary ones. In this case, the number is unlimited; if you wish, you can add all the links. You can choose an option for a simpler view of the desktop. In this case, quick access to functions is carried out by movements of the navigation key in all four directions.
The menu consists of 12 icons (3x4). You can move them around, organizing them as you like. There are several other types of menus: single, list, icons without signatures.
On the screen, you can change the background image, choosing from the number of pre-installed or downloaded yourself. Of course, there is also a possibility to change themes, the phone has 4 themes.
When the screen is locked, no additional information is displayed on it. Pressing the end call key will light up the display and show the time and date. The platform is good and convenient, its main drawback is the lack of full-fledged multitasking, which is typical for Sony Ericsson devices. It is possible to work in the background of the player and radio, but the same browser or twitter cannot be minimized, you will have to restart the program every time.
Phone book
The device memory can store 1000 contacts, each of which can be assigned up to 5 phone numbers. Additionally, a wide variety of data is assigned: type of number (work, mobile, home, etc.), e-mail, date of birth, organization, position and others. Each contact can be assigned not only a picture, but also an individual melody or video that will notify about an incoming call from a subscriber. Of course, there are fields for the first and last name, the limit is the number of characters: 50 characters for each field, which is quite enough.
You can display the contacts stored only in the phone or SIM card memory (the corresponding icon will be displayed on the screen) or both. After selecting a contact in the phone book, you can perform a number of actions: make a call, send a message or e-mail, as well as supplement the contact with additional data. By pressing one key, you can view all information about the subscriber.
The list can be sorted either by first name or last name of the persons included in it. It is possible to create user groups, each of them can be assigned a picture and melody. The search in the phone book works, which searches by the first letter of the first or last name.
Call log
It contains various categories: all calls, missed, received and dialed. The message recipients are displayed in a separate list, the duration of the calls, the packet data counter and other information related to the data transfer are indicated.
Each call category displays up to 20 numbers with the name of the subscriber, date, time and duration of the call. You can use the new numbers as a source to create a contact, or update information about an existing one.
There is a function of speed dialing 8 phone numbers. The speakerphone works, and you can also record the conversation by calling this option in the menu during a call. The speech intelligibility function is activated, which improves the quality of voice transmission during a conversation.

The section is devoted to SMS and MMS messages. Following the trend of recent years, correspondence with a person can be displayed as a single list, forming a dialogue. All messages fall into one common, single folder.
You can add an audio file, picture or video to any SMS message, which will automatically transform it into MMS. Copying and pasting of text is supported, data from the message can be transferred to the calendar. The font size is changed.
When sending, you can select from phonebook destinations, journal and e-mail numbers, recently used numbers, and send a message to your favorite user.
Working with e-mail is implemented using a built-in application that helps you quickly set up a mailbox on one of the popular mail servers. In my case, Gmail.com and Mail.ru were tested, with which there were no difficulties. Supports automatic downloading of messages, you can choose between one of three intervals, set the period for receiving mail.
The phone is able to download letters with attachments, however, there are problems with viewing files, for example, documents - the ability to display data applies only to graphic images. It supports work with several e-mail accounts, the POP3, IMAP4, SMTP protocols work. The mail client has basic capabilities, with its help you can write a letter, send a file (a picture from the phone's memory or a photo from a camera).
Camera
The phone has a 3.2-megapixel module. The camera is launched through the phone menu, since there is no dedicated key.
The interface is clear and simple. A series of icons are displayed that allow you to access the photo and video settings, and switch between photo and video modes. Shooting is carried out in landscape orientation.

If you minimize the player, information about the music being played can be displayed on the desktop. 10-scale volume control is enough with a margin, even for a noisy environment like a subway.
The sound is good, considering that the phone does not belong to the line of music devices, nevertheless, the inexpensive Nokia C2-01 player can replace it. Radio Stereo FM radio operates in the 87.5-108 MHz / 76-90 MHz range. RDS is supported, up to 20 stations can be stored in the phone's memory, which can be recorded in the device's memory, either by automatic search, or by entering them manually. By minimizing the application, you can see the name of the listening station on the desktop.
Photo album Photos taken with the built-in camera are grouped into “my photos” and “timeline” sections. “My Photos” is a set of 4x3 thumbnails showing the photos stored in the phone. You can arrange a slide show by choosing one of three possible transitions between pictures and setting the display time in the range from 3 to 10 seconds.
By clicking on the image, it will open in full screen, after which it will be possible to view the picture in more detail using scaling using a couple of virtual keys. You can also send a photo via MMS, e-mail, Bluetooth, upload to Facebook or Twitter.
The "Timeline" shows the frames saved in the phone's memory, sorted by date. After choosing a certain day, you can see a set of pictures, later they can be enlarged to fill the screen. It differs from “my photos” only in the selection criterion: not all photos are displayed mixed, but sorted by date, which can make it easier to find the desired file.
The built-in image editor will allow you not only to resize the photo, but also add text, frames, frames, effects and perform other actions to it, the program has wide capabilities.
Video The phone supports playback of clips in MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, 3GP. The video library is a list of files, by selecting any, it can be viewed both vertically and horizontally.

There is only one alarm clock, there is no possibility to create several different ones.

On the right side there is a microUSB port, which is needed to connect the cable. It is not included in the kit, the phone cannot charge from the USB connector. On the same side there is a 2-mm "thin" hole for the charger.
A compartment for a SIM card is located under the hinged plastic cover. It allows you to quickly replace it, no need to turn off the device.
The sides of the phone as well as the back are made of more practical matte plastic. You can see how the bumpers are rounded towards the bottom of the device. The design is extremely simple.
There is a large hole in the center, where you can see the lens of the 0.3 megapixel camera. To the right is the speaker hole.
The lid holds in place well, but you can notice how it squeaks when you push it in the center. Prying it from the end using a special recess, you can remove the battery. The battery covers the compartment for the second SIM card. The memory card slot can be found on the side of the phone.
Screen
The phone is equipped with a 1.8-inch TFT screen displaying up to 65K colors. Its resolution is 128x160 pixels, in this parameter it is inferior to competitors, the quality is very low.
The viewing angles are average, the image fades especially strongly, if you turn the phone to the right. The display is covered with plastic, which to some extent resists the appearance of scratches. The image is dim, the colors are faded, there is no way to manually adjust the brightness of the display.
Interface
Nokia C2-00 is based on Series 40 6th edition platform. Indicators of cellular network signal reception, battery charge, time, date are displayed on the desktop, the mode selected by the user is displayed. It varies from simple, with a minimal amount of information displayed, to saturated with a variety of data, by analogy with devices on Series 60. When the screen is locked, no additional information is displayed on it. Pressing the end call key will light up the display and show the time and date.
The desktop can display 3 rows of widgets and shortcuts, each of which can be assigned the desired function by choosing from among various applications. Among them are: favorite contacts, calendar, note, timer, link bar, search, mail, radio and music, communities, notifications, chat. It is permissible, at your discretion, to move links across the screen, choosing the design that is most convenient for you.
In order to enter the menu, you need to press the center of the navigation key. The right and left soft keys give additional access to other applications. Initially, they are assigned access to the phone book and shortcut menu. It represents icons of various applications, you can choose from more than 60 functions, adding the necessary ones. In this case, the number is unlimited; if you wish, you can add all the links. You can choose an option for a simpler view of the desktop. In this case, quick access to functions is carried out by movements of the navigation key in all four directions.
The menu consists of 12 icons. You can move them around, organizing them as you like. There are several other types of menus: single, list, icons without signatures. On the screen, you can change the background image, choosing from the number of pre-installed or downloaded yourself.
There is a possibility of changing the themes, the phone has four variants.
The platform is good and convenient, its main drawback is the lack of full-fledged multitasking, which is typical for Sony Ericsson devices. It is possible to work in the background of the player and radio, but for most other applications this mode is not available.
Phone book
The device stores 1000 contacts, each of which can be assigned up to 5 phone numbers. Additionally, other data is assigned: type of number (work, mobile, home), email, date of birth, organization, position and others. Each contact can be assigned not only a picture, but also an individual melody or video that will notify about an incoming call from a subscriber. Of course, there are fields for the first and last name, the limit is the number of characters: 50 characters for each field, which is quite enough.
You can display the contacts stored only in the phone or SIM card memory (the corresponding icon will be displayed on the screen) or both. After selecting a contact in the phone book, you can perform a number of actions: make a call, send a message or e-mail, as well as supplement the contact with additional data. By pressing one key, you can view all information about the subscriber.
The list is ordered either by first name or last name of the persons included in it. It is possible to create user groups, each of them can be assigned a picture and melody. The search in the phone book works, which searches by the first letter of the first or last name.
Call log
It contains various categories: all calls, missed, received and dialed. The message recipients are displayed in a separate list, the duration of the calls, the packet data counter and other information related to the data transfer are indicated.
Each call category displays up to 20 numbers with the name of the subscriber, date, time and duration of the call. You can use the new numbers as a source to create a contact, or update information about an existing one.
There is a function of speed dialing 8 phone numbers. The speakerphone works, and you can also record the conversation by calling this option in the menu during a call.
The SIM card management menu allows you to choose a base of two cards for any task. There is only one GSM-module, so you won't be able to talk on both cards at the same time. The SIM card, which is inserted from the side, can be quickly replaced with another without having to restart the phone. In certain situations, such a function will be very convenient.
Posts
The section is devoted to SMS and MMS messages. Correspondence with a person can be displayed as a single list, forming a dialogue. All messages fall into one common, single folder. You can add an audio file, picture or video to any SMS message, which will automatically transform it into MMS. Copying and pasting of text is supported, data from the message can be transferred to the calendar. The font size is changed.
When sending, you can select from phonebook destinations, journal and e-mail numbers, recently used numbers, and send a message to your favorite user. The device allows you to back up data on a memory card.
Working with e-mail is implemented using a built-in application that helps you quickly set up a mailbox on one of the popular mail servers. In my case, Gmail.com and Mail.ru were tested, with which there were no difficulties. Supports automatic downloading of messages, you can choose between one of three intervals, set the period for receiving mail.
The phone is able to download letters with attachments, however, there are problems with viewing files, for example, documents - the ability to display data applies only to graphic images. It supports work with several e-mail accounts, the POP3, IMAP4, SMTP protocols work. The mail client has basic capabilities, with its help you can write a letter, send a file (a picture from the phone's memory or a photo from a camera).
Camera
The phone has the simplest photo center, it offers a 0.3-megapixel camera. The interface is clear and simple. A series of icons are displayed that allow you to access the photo and video settings, and switch between photo and video modes. Shooting is carried out in portrait or landscape orientation.
The camera has a number of settings:
Saving pictures: phone memory or memory card.
Snapshot title: automatically or your own name.
Photo quality: 0.3M (640x480), (480x600), 0.1M (320x240), (120x160 pixels).
Self-timer: 3, 5, 10 seconds.

 Audio player The player reads such formats as AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3, MP4, WMA. The playlist can be sorted by genre, artist, album. Playlists are highlighted, and you can also listen to all the tracks in turn.
In playback mode, the display shows the album art (if it was registered in the tags), information about the artist, album name and song is displayed, indicating the total length of the song and the time it was played. The player is controlled using the navigation key, it also changes the sound volume.
If you minimize the player, information about the music being played can be displayed on the desktop. The 10-scale volume control is enough with a margin, even for a noisy environment like the subway. As for the sound quality, the model performed well here. And an ordinary user with such devices instead of a player will be quite comfortable, only headphones should be connected with better quality.
Radio Stereo FM radio operates in the 87.5-108 MHz / 76-90 MHz range. RDS is supported, up to 20 stations can be stored in the phone's memory, which can be recorded in the device's memory, either by automatic search, or by entering them manually. By minimizing the application, you can see the name of the listening station on the desktop.
Photo album Photos taken with the built-in camera are grouped into “my photos” and “timeline” sections.
The first category is a set of 4x3 preview pictures displaying the photos stored in the phone. You can arrange a slide show by choosing one of three possible transitions between pictures and setting the display time in the range from 3 to 10 seconds.
If you click on the image, it will open in full screen, after which you can view the image in more detail using scaling using a couple of virtual keys. You can also send a photo via MMS or Bluetooth. The built-in image editor will allow you not only to resize the photo, but also add text, frames, frames, effects and perform other actions to it, the program has wide capabilities.
The "Timeline" shows the frames saved in the phone's memory, sorted by date. After choosing a certain day, you can see a set of pictures, later they can be enlarged to fill the screen. It differs from “my photos” only in the selection criterion: not all photos are displayed mixed, but sorted by date, which can make it easier to find the desired file.
Applications The calendar You can select the default view: the view of the month or day, the day of the start of the week is set, and you can also set the automatic deletion of records after a certain period of time (after 1 day, week or month), if required.
New events can be of different types: reminder, meeting, call, birthday, anniversary, note. You can set the place, date and time of the start and end, set the repeat for every day, week, month or year, you can turn on the notification signal and set the time of its activation. There is a search among the records, which helps to find the desired date or event.
Alarm The days of triggering are set, the signal is set (it can be either a preset melody or a composition loaded into the phone's memory, in addition, you can select the sound of the radio as a signal, for this you need to connect a headset or headphones to the phone) and the period of its repetition. There is only one alarm clock, there is no possibility to create several different ones.
There is a stopwatch and timer.
The function of displaying the time in different time zones allows you to display information on four different cities on the phone screen at the same time.
The calculator will help you perform a variety of arithmetic operations. There is an engineering calculator with an extended set of functions.

Profiles There is an autonomous operating mode, the so-called "flight mode", in which the GSM module is turned off, but all other functions of the device remain available. The phone has 7 customizable profiles, in each of which you can set a ringtone, its volume, a signal for a message and similar notifications. It is convenient that at the appointed time the selected profile can be turned off automatically, you just need to set the date.
Browser Nokia C2-00 uses Opera Mini 4.2 as a pre-installed browser. This is a simple and convenient tool, with a modest traffic consumption and high data download speed.
Communications The phone works in GSM 900/1800 networks, it supports GPRS class 12. Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) supports the A2DP profile. Synchronization of data with a remote server is possible.

Memory The built-in memory in Nokia C2-00 is about 45 MB. The phone supports microSD memory cards up to 32 GB, "hot swappable" media is supported. During testing, we used carriers from 1 to 32 GB, with all the phone worked correctly and without any complaints.
The file browser allows you to move and copy various files between the phone memory and memory card, create folders and rename them. It can sort data by name, date, format and size.
Working hours The volume of the supplied battery is 1020 mAh. According to the manufacturer, the phone can work from one charge up to 400 hours in standby mode or up to 240 minutes of talk time. With inactive use, which includes no more than 10 minutes of calls a day, the phone worked for about 5 days with a pair of SIM-cards installed. If you call for 20-30 minutes a day, listen to music for about two hours, then you will need to charge it once every 1.5-2 days. Conclusion The phone has one speaker, it is both a ring and a speaker. This means that in a dialogue environment, the sound is better heard from behind than from the front. It is more convenient to talk with the back of the phone facing your face. The vibration motor is weak, it is felt quite in rare cases. As you can see, in Nokia C2-00 the company was unable to eliminate one of the main drawbacks of its cheap phones by installing two different loudspeakers here. There are no volume control keys here either, although this is not such a significant drawback against the background of the need to talk through the speakerphone, because this behavior cannot be characterized in any other way. On the one hand, it offers a convenient Series 40 platform, good speed of java applications. But the downside was the inconvenience of using the device as a means of making calls. For such purposes, a phone with a pair of SIM-cards is required, and the tested device has no special advantages. One could forgive both the bad screen and the useless camera, but overall the device turned out to be strange. At a price of about 2700 rubles, its competitors are not only devices from Fly and Philips, but also products from Samsung. For example, the Samsung E2152 Duos offers a more elaborate menu for working with SIM-cards, there are no problems with the speaker.
