I don't know if this instruction will be of practical use to the reader, but for me personally, displaying the day of the week is a very useful thing, in any case, you don't have to click on the clock to open the calendar.

And just here you can customize the date display in the way you want, for this use the format notation d for the day M for a month and y for a year, and you can use them as follows:
- dd, d - correspond to the day, in full and abbreviated (without leading zero for numbers up to 10).
- ddd, dddd - two options for indicating the day of the week (for example, Thursday and Thursday).
- M, MM, MMM, MMMM - four versions of the month (short number, full number, letter)
- y, yy, yyy, yyyy - formats for the year. The first two and the last two give the same result.
As you make changes in the Examples area, you will see exactly how the date display will change. In order to make changes in the clock of the notification area, you need to edit the short date format.
After making the changes, save the settings, and you will immediately see what exactly has changed in the watch. In which case, you can always click the "Reset" button to restore the default date display settings. You can also add any of your text to the date format, if you wish, by enclosing it in quotes.
Today, to find out what time it is, most often they look at the phone screen, and not at the dial of a real clock.

Installing a beautiful clock widget is not difficult and free, but while experimenting, I chose Timely.
It is an alarm clock program, clock, stopwatch and timer in one. Plus, it has a minimalist, simple and straightforward interface.
The application itself consists of three screens. The first has alarms that can be easily managed and set on the appropriate days of the week. Of course, you can also select a personalized alarm melody.
On the second screen, there is a classic clock. Their appearance can be changed: style and background. On the last screen, access to the stopwatch and timer.
You can easily switch between these functions using vertical gestures. It also has great animation built in.
The switching between timer and stopwatch looks amazing. As if that weren't enough, every digit change on the watch display looks insane.
Never before has an app's clock been so eye-catching. It may sound ridiculous, but using a timer has never been so enjoyable.

Another, available to all owners of android (or at least version 4.1 and later) Chronus.
At first glance, Chronus is another standard widget hours. In fact, the application can do much more, and this is one of the most attractive elements.
Not only is the program a highly customizable widget, but it also provides weather information and can display event information from the calendar.
Thus, you get three functions, and at the same time it looks nice and has extensive customization.
The user can choose from two types of clocks - digital and analog. Visually, they largely resemble native Android widgets.
The digital version can decide if you want to thicken the hours or minutes and also determine their color. You can also display information about scheduled alarms (and of course customize it).
The weather forecast function is based on the Yahoo service. You will have options such as the refresh interval, the choice of units and locations, and two charts - color or monochrome.
Nothing stands in the way and change the font color used to inform about the current weather.
Information about upcoming events in the calendar is also customizable. Here you can select the categories from which data should be collected and determine which items will be displayed.
In addition, the app can highlight upcoming events as the deadline approaches. Just like in the two previous cases, you can specify the font color.
The widget works really well. Its appearance may not be particularly original, but it fits well with the android interface.

In the Windows 8.1 system, as well as in earlier Windows systems, in the bottom (system) line of the screen there is a date and time program icon. If you click on it, you can go to the main window of the program and change the date and time on the computer. And everything is great, but only at first glance. The system still does not have an alarm clock and there are no other functions related to the clock, for example, automatic shutdown computer at a given time. There is also such a problem. Some programs open their window in full screen and then the clock is not visible.
I got interested in this question several years ago in connection with the problem of showing presentation slides at a seminar or at a conference. They are shown in full screen. On the other hand, reports at the conference are limited in time. It is inconvenient to look at a wrist clock all the time, and there may not be a wall clock in the hall, or it may hang so that the speaker cannot see it. It would be helpful to have a clock on top of the slides so that you can watch the time at the same time as you view the slides.
That is, you need a program that can do this. I am so arranged that in any problem I first try to find a solution on my own. Since I used to show presentations (and many still do) using the Power Point program, and in this program you can show gif animation, at first I decided to make this gif animation, which would show the clock and change the picture with a different time every minute. I did it, but this animation should be placed on all slides and immediately launched, running all slides before showing. It was not very convenient.
Then I learned how to make a clock program in a browser on javascript language using the newly released graphical language pack. For this to work, it was necessary to also write the presentation program in javascript and display the report through the browser. I did it and it works, even very well. The only difficulty is that not all browsers at that time supported the graphic package, and if you showed a report from someone else's computer, you had to launch your browser, preferably from a flash drive. This was also possible, but launching the browser was time consuming and not always stable. It was annoying.
In the end, I decided to look for other people's programs, and it turned out that they exist and there are a lot of them. I myself program in Java language, and it does not work, since the programs on it run using virtual machine, that is, an interpreter, which is no better than a browser, it must also be launched. And from a flash drive it's not fast again. Therefore, I cannot write such a program myself. But it is not necessary either, everything has already been written, and there are many such programs. Below I will describe some of them. The order depends only on my sympathies. It is important to note the following. All programs put their window on top of the windows of all other programs and this works even in full screen mode... That is, the clock is always visible, and the program is always active. It is also important to know that if you know the name of the program, then you can find it by searching in Yandex by name. For this reason, sometimes I do not even give links to programs, only the name. So, in order.
I found this program in the SoftPortal.com directory of programs, it had its own website, but it does not work now. The program puts the clock in numbers, quite compactly. Only hours and minutes on a black background. The seconds are shown as a slider at the top, and the day of the week is shown in highlighted color among the seven dashes at the bottom. The stripes above and below are compact, but they are less visible. You can only change the color of the numbers. By clicking the right mouse button, the clock can be removed from the screen using the menu. The compact watch window can be moved and placed anywhere on the screen. The program is provided ready-made, that is, without installation. This program is best suited for presentations. Perhaps the only drawback is that it looks too boring.
The program puts a transparent clock with a dial on top of all windows, in which numbers and arrows are placed directly on the screen, that is, without a background, and minimally spoil the image. It is possible to resize the clock and move it around the screen. You can even change the transparency of the image of the numbers themselves. Highly good program and is also suitable for presentations. The only drawback is that in order to remove the clock from the screen, you need to kill the process using the task manager. Moreover, in the list of processes, the program is called TheAeroClock, that is, you need to search at the end of the list, and not at the beginning. I found the program by searching Yandex in the Freesoft.ru catalog. The program is provided ready-made, that is, without installation. An important detail - you can configure the program parameters through the menu only at the first start. After the configuration window is closed, the program writes a file of the ini type, and next time it reads all parameters from this file. To change the settings, the ini file must be destroyed.
This program was written by an amateur programmer Yuri Vikhirev. She has her own website. There are also many other clock programs written by this author on this site. In my opinion, this is a great program for the home. It shows the date, time, day of the week in a small window, and this is its icon. If you put the mouse cursor on it and click the right button, a menu will open in which you can start the alarm clock, view the calendar, synchronize the time on the computer with the Internet, turn off the computer at the specified time and something else. The distribution kit is downloaded, the launch of which installs the program. The program window is not at the top, that is, it is not suitable for presentations.
I found this program on the disketa.info website. The program puts the clock face on top of all windows, by the right mouse button there is a menu in which you can turn on the alarm. True, the call is short and does not repeat, but the clock itself is clearly visible and often this is enough, well, it shakes along with the alarm clock. From the menu, you can remove the program from the screen. The program is provided ready-made, that is, without installation. There are many other interesting programs on this site. This program is suitable for presentations and has a beautiful dial, or rather there are three of them and you can choose any of the three.
I downloaded this program a long time ago, but never used it. It has a window with a menu, you can put it on top of all windows on demand, but the program window is not very pretty, and the menu is rather complicated. Judging by the name, this is an alarm clock program, but in reality it can perform a set of tasks by time or run programs by time, but I did not understand how to turn on the alarm clock. The program had its own website, but it no longer works. Nevertheless, it is in many program catalogs and it is easy to find it by searching in Yandex.
In conclusion, I will say that in the program directories, as well as using the search, you can find many other programs that perform different functions at the appointed time.
