OS Flyme is the proprietary operating system of Meizu Technology Co. Ltd., assembled for a number of smartphones of this brand based on one of the versions of the Android OS. How to update Flyme - official version
- At the very beginning, you need to find the newest Flyme update, suitable specifically for your phone. The official update page is flymeos.com. If there is no suitable smartphone model in the list yet, be patient, it may appear in the near future. Meizu is releasing updates to its OS with a spread of 2-3 months. For example, the M3 Max received Flyme 5.2.5.0G on October 17, and for the M3E this upgrade was released only on December 23, 2016.
- If the update you need was found on the official website, then you should Charge your smartphone battery up to 100 percent and start downloading the archive with the update directly in the phone's browser, specifying the root memory folder as the save location. And this is very important, since most of the complaints: "Flyme update is not coming" are provoked by incorrect saving of the update.zip archive. And if you received the message "Firmware not found" during the installation phase, it means that update.zip was not downloaded to the root directory of the phone's data storage.
Important note: if the battery charge of the phone is less than 65 percent, it is not recommended to download and install the OS update yourselfm manufacturer. During installation and debugging, the phone may turn off and the system will not be updated.
- After the download is complete, you transfer the phone to Super User Mode(). Moreover, this step can be done before installing the Flyme update. There isn't much difference.
- After activating Root-rights, you need to switch the phone in the mode Recovery mode... To do this, you need to turn off the smartphone and turn it on by holding I have the power button and the "volume +" rocker... You need to hold down these keys until the inscription "MEIZU" appears and the transition to the "System Upgrade" menu.
- Once in the System Upgrade menu, you can reset the contents of your phone's data storage by deleting old photos, videos, games and documents. System files it is not deleted. To start life with blank slate- click on Clear Data. If you need to save all user data, then skip this step.
- The command to start the operating system upgrade is issued by selecting the System Upgrade option. After that, you should click on virtual button"Start".
- Then you just have to be patient and wait for the completion of the operating system update. Upon completion of the upgrade, the phone will go into preboot, so do not panic if the smartphone turned off by itself - this is a good sign.
- At the end, you repeat the procedure for the "first launch" of the smartphone. That is, the language, the network is re-selected, the acquaintance with the rules of use passes through, and so on.
That's all. Now you know how to install Flyme update. Do not neglect the timely update of the operating system, and your phone will delight you with new functions and optimization of old capabilities.
If your browser does not start downloading after clicking the button, then .1. Always update the device firmware with sufficient battery charge (at least 20%)!
Note: Clearing data ("Clear Data") means deleting the current settings, phonebook entries, messages, notes, mail accounts, as well as installed third-party software. This does not affect data such as music, videos, photos and other files contained in the phone.

1. Download the update.zip firmware file to the phone (to the root of the disk) in USB storage mode (Settings - About phone - Memory - Connect as an MTP media device).
2. Switch off your phone.
3. Turning on, hold down the "Power" and "Volume Up" buttons simultaneously until the MEIZU logo appears.
4. In the uploaded firmware update window, check the "System Upgrade" option and, if necessary, the "Clear Data" option, then click the "Start" button on the screen.
5. Wait until the end of the firmware process - the phone will reboot automatically.

PLEASE NOTE: the Flyme synchronization function is disabled in this firmware version due to the manufacturer's upgrade of the server equipment intended for the international segment. If you use a Flyme account for synchronization, then before updating the firmware, create a backup copy of your contacts, messages, call history, calendar events through the appropriate option Reserve copy(Settings> About phone> Storage> Backup) and after updating the firmware, restore data using this option.
Peculiarities:
The task manager of the new FlymeOS, when closing applications, terminates the corresponding processes and releases RAM... If you want a certain process (application) to continue working in the background, then add it to the "white list" (Security application> Memory accelerator> Settings).

Note that updating the software without clearing the data is permissible only within one version of Flyme, while the stable operation of the device is still not guaranteed. When you change the Flyme version, for example, from Flyme 5 to Flyme 6, cleaning is required, and a backup with its subsequent restoration will help you not to install or configure the device again, since all data will be saved in its original form.

Download firmware
You can download the current firmware version on our website in the section or on the official Russian MEIZU website at this link. In both cases, we need to select our smartphone and download the firmware specifically for it.
You can download the update either directly to a smartphone via the built-in browser, or to a computer, followed by copying the firmware file to the device.
Personally, it is more convenient for me to download the update immediately to my smartphone, so as not to waste a few extra minutes copying the archive to the device.
As soon as the firmware download is complete, we need to transfer the update archive, which has the name "update.zip", to the root folder of the smartphone's memory. To do this, go to standard application"Explorer", in it, click on "Local files", select the "Download" folder. Depending on the Flyme version and the built-in browser, the firmware file can be located either here or in the "Browser" folder, which is located in the "Download" folder. In our case, "update.zip" was downloaded to the "Download" folder.
We make a long tap on the "update.zip" file so that it is highlighted with a tick and press the "Move" button, then press "Internal memory" and "Move ...". That's it, now our update file is in the right place. We leave it here for now and go to the backup.
Back up SMS and call history
The first thing I recommend to start creating a backup is this backup of messages and call history. For this I suggest using free program SMS Backup & Restore. You can download it in Google play by this link.
Download the application and go to it.
Before us will be a simple and intuitively understandable interface. We are interested in the "Make a backup" item. The program will offer to create a backup in Google Drive, Dropbox or in the smartphone's memory itself. The shortest way is to save the SMS backup on your smartphone in the default folder. So we'll do it by clicking on "Local Backup" and "Default Application Folder".
I recommend leaving the checkboxes on the next screen as they are. Unless, if you use MMS, you can additionally save MMS messages. Now click on "Archive now", wait for the end of the process and see how many SMS and calls were copied.
At the end, the program will offer to set up automatic saving of backups. We click no, since we only need a backup copy to update the firmware.
It is important to make a copy using SMS Backup & Restore before the main backup, so that both the program and our backup are saved along with the full backup of the smartphone.
Creating a backup copy of settings and programs
To create a backup copy of settings, programs (with settings), contacts, calendar and photos, we will use the built-in Flyme backup utility. To do this, follow the path: Settings - About phone - Memory - Copy and restore.
Press the big BACKUP button and tick all the boxes except SMS, MMS and Call Logs, since we created a copy of them earlier.
The process of creating a backup will begin, which will take some time. As soon as copying is completed, the utility will notify you of the success of this operation. Click DONE and proceed to the direct flashing.
Firmware upgrade
The firmware of the device can be started through the "Explorer", so we go into it, click "Local files" and scroll down to the file with the firmware.
We tap on the file name, be sure to put a tick in front of "Clear data" and click "Update now".
The flashing process will begin, which will last about 10-15 minutes. I recommend keeping the smartphone on charge all this time so that it does not suddenly turn off during the flashing.
Restore backups
After flashing with data cleansing, we got a pristine smartphone, just like after the purchase. We need to do the initial configuration and then restore our backups.

When the device detects the current version software updates, you need to click the "Install updates" button. You can also specify in the service settings the ability to synchronize and search for new versions in automatic mode.
