How to use the Cedar charger? Charger "Cedar": description, instructions Charger auto 4a instruction diagram

Comments (17):

if you put a zener diode at 8.5V, will it be okay? will it not affect the operation and characteristics of the device in any way?

# 2 root June 14 2017

Victor, here are the parameters of the KS175Zh, which is installed in the circuit:

  • The minimum stabilization voltage is 7.1 V;
  • Nominal stabilization voltage - 7.5 V;
  • The maximum stabilization voltage is 7.9 V;
  • The stabilization current of the zener diode is 4 mA.

As you can see, the zener diode has a certain spread in the stabilization voltage: 7.1-7.9 V. It is used in the circuit to power logic chips of the K176 series.
Most likely, replacing the KS175Zh with a zener diode with a voltage of 8.5V will not affect the operation of the charger in any way.

# 10 Alex January 08 2019

Got me in the repair KEDR AUTO 12V, I don’t know for a year. For all CEDARS I will not speak, only on the example of this instance. The printed circuit board and wiring diagram correspond to Fig. 10. Schematic diagram - fully corresponds to Fig. 7. Scheme Fig. 3 contains obvious errors, the connection of the DD4 - K176TM2 microcircuit is shown incorrectly. There, even for the DD4.2 part, the microcircuit legs are incorrectly numbered. In my copy, it was this microcircuit that failed, I had to sort it out. As shown in the diagram in Fig. 3 - the node on the DD4 microcircuit cannot work correctly. It would be better to remove it .... the circuit in Fig. 3.

# 11 root January 09 2019

Alex, thanks for your comments. Errors corrected. We checked the numbering of the pins of all microcircuits in Figure 3 - for the DD4.2 element, 12 were swapped with 13 and 10 with 11.

All health! They gave me a 12v cedar in a faulty condition, the problem is in the power transformer. TPP3-2-220-50k did not find anything in the current network (it consists of 1 primary 1-2, and two secondary 5-6, and 4-3, the resistance of the primary and secondary and output voltages is very necessary.

# 13 Pavel February 04 2019

Hello, What do R5 and R9 regulate? How can you limit the voltage to 14.8V?

# 14 Dmitry February 06 2019

Good day to all! One person has already asked about the KU 202g alternative. I'm not very good at radio and electrical equipment. One of the thyristors is out of order. In the store, when buying, "master sellers" assured that KU 202g and Ku 202zh were interchangeable (at that time, KU 202g were not on sale). Yes, of course, after installing KU 202zh, the device works, but does not work automatic shutdown when the battery is fully charged.
You have to constantly watch so that there is no recharge and the plates in the battery do not crumble.
Maybe there is still an alternative EXACTLY KU 202g?

# 15 root February 06 2019

Thyristors KU202G and KU202ZH are identical in characteristics with the exception of the parameter "Constant voltage in the closed state", where it is equal to 50V and 10V, respectively.

The circuit is low-voltage and this parameter may not be so critical here, perhaps some other details are out of order. It is necessary to check if all the transistors and diodes are in good working order, to study the operation of the device and check the microcircuits.

The board has a trimmer resistor R5 "End of charge" (diagram in Figure 7), it may have been twisted without understanding and the device is not configured to turn off the charge when reaching a certain level battery voltage.

# 16 ALEX February 11 2019

Hello. For the memory, the cedar stopped working due to the breakage of diodes in the circuit of the control electrodes of the thyristors.
Replaced diodes and thyristors. Charging went only in a cyclic mode. When the automatic mode was turned on, the LED turned off, the ammeter showed a current of 2 A and turned off after a couple of seconds. Slightly stirred R5, the charge went a little longer. The tester on a battery / 40A / showed the power on at 13.4 and off at 14.4 everything would good, but there was no fixed shutdown. Zu turns on with the specified parameters and turns off until you disconnect it from the network. Please advise how it should be. Thank you in advance.

# 17 Alex March 14 2019

the charge occurs in a cyclic mode. those. the needle of the ammeter deviates by 1 A and then drops again to 0 A. and so on with a frequency of about 50-60 Hz.

In the arsenal of every motorist must have a car. Operation of a vehicle without this device can be significantly complicated. A car charger can be most useful during the winter months when the battery needs to be charged more frequently. When the battery is fully discharged, you will have to "light up" the car, which is not always convenient, and in some cases may require additional expenses due to contacting the service station. It is much easier to charge the battery at home. One of the most popular brands of car chargers is "Kedr" - devices of this brand are bought by many vehicle owners.

Model range of chargers: "Kedr-M"

Charging "Kedr-Auto" is intended for recharging car batteries. Such equipment is mainly used to restore the performance of batteries, which have lost it due to the reactions of sulfation and oxidation of electrodes. In addition, the service life can also be increased with the help of the Kedr-Auto Mini charger by training the charge-discharge cycle.

Device functions

  • Automatic termination of battery charging.
  • Cyclic charge-discharge mode, the action of which is aimed at restoring the battery capacity as a result of the sulfation reaction of the plates.
  • Protection system against short circuits and incorrectly connected terminals.
  • Provided recharge mode, which allows you to collect the full capacity of the battery.

Preparation for work

On the back of the charger there is a special compartment in which cords with clips and a network cable are hidden.

The voltage of the Kedr-Auto 4A charger can harm human health or cause death. The device must be turned off before starting restoration and repair work and changing the fuse. It is strictly forbidden to install self-made fuses and block the ventilation openings of the case. In addition, the battery must not be charged in the vicinity of heaters.

Before starting work, the cords with terminals are removed from the rear compartment of the device. The first lever of the device is switched to charging mode, the second - to cyclic or continuous mode.

How to use Kedr-Auto 4A?

Continuous mode is used when full battery charging is required.

The cyclic mode is used when forming or desulfating electrodes. In this mode, a 6-watt 12-volt light bulb is connected to the terminals.

Then, the terminals are connected to the current leads observing the polarity.

The Kedr charger has a protection mode against incorrect connection and short circuits. The instructions for the Kedr-Auto 4A charger indicate that its operation is possible only if a rechargeable battery with a minimum voltage of 10 volts is connected to the terminals. When you try to restore the charge of a completely discharged battery, the device will turn on the protection mode.

Switching operating modes can be carried out without disconnecting the charger from the network. According to reviews on "Kedr-Auto", the current strength at the beginning of the charging process is 4 A, followed by a gradual decrease. The charger is automatically turned off after the battery is fully charged, which is indicated by a special LED. After that, you can put the charger into recharge mode.

Charging the battery in a cyclic mode lasts 45 seconds, after which a special light is turned on. This mode does not have an automatic shutdown, so it is advisable to control the whole process.

"Kedr-Auto 4A" and "Kedr-Auto 12V"

Both models are used for battery recovery, battery charging and charge-discharge training cycles.

On the rear wall of the devices there are power wires and connections to the battery. There is no special compartment for placing wires in these models. The instructions for the Kedr-Auto 4A and Kedr-Auto 12V chargers describe in detail the operating rules and the procedure for use.

Before the direct process of charging the battery, the plugs are unscrewed from the cans. After charging or recovery, the terminals are disconnected only after the charger is disconnected from the 220 V.

ZU "Cedar": user reviews

Most of the reviews left for Cedar chargers are positive. The most popular model of the device is Kedr-Auto 4A. Somewhat less often you can find reviews for the Kedr-Auto 10 model.

Among the advantages of the memory car enthusiasts include simplicity and ease of use, the low price for "Kedr-Auto" (about 1500-2500 rubles) and a long service life. Users often note that the charger can last ten or more years without any complaints. Cycling is one of the main benefits for many users, as it allows desulfation and recovery of old batteries. Car enthusiasts often note that with the help of this regime it was possible to restore the performance of the batteries, which had been completely discharged for a long time. Of course, it is impossible to completely restore the battery capacity, but you can achieve a positive effect.

However, you can also encounter negative reviews. Some owners of Kedr-Auto chargers note that in automatic mode the battery does not charge. If the battery capacity exceeds 60 Ah, then its charging takes a very long time due to the 4 ampere limit. The same rechargeable batteries with a capacity exceeding 70 Ah are not fully charged. Users also noted that Kedr-Auto chargers do not charge those batteries, the charge of which has dropped below 10 volts.

Despite all the negative reviews and existing shortcomings, Kedr-Auto chargers are among the best and most popular in the automotive market. The devices allow you to quickly charge batteries, are distinguished by a long service life and wide functionality, and are significantly ahead of their competitors from other brands.

Modern minds and Newest technologies provide consumers with a huge range of devices that make life easier for users. The variety of technical assistants is constantly growing. The periphery is also growing, aimed at comfortable spending of their time. There is a growing need for more and more battery-powered devices that make the use of electrical appliances more versatile.

How to use charger"Cedar"? The type of charging equipment is thought out to the smallest detail, which makes it easier to use, due to its versatility. Cedar is designed to charge 12-volt lead-acid batteries. The time spent on charging depends entirely on how discharged the battery is. For desulfation (battery recovery), the Cycle mode is provided.

The operating capacity of this device is from 14 to 190 Ah. The ease of use extends the battery life. The principle is that the built-in board absolutely automatically looks for a rational option. And the power wires are practically reduced to nothing. Silent operation of the Kedr charger, compact dimensions of the device, low weight and the absence of gas and sparking have a positive effect on the impressions of its operation.

A number of features aimed at clarifying how the user of the Cedar charger. Thanks to the unique developments of Russian scientists, the Kedr charger has quite a few of the listed capabilities. The peculiarity of the charger allows you to achieve maximum performance and the smallest deviation in current strength, voltage in the device.

If, in the event of the charger's operation, the light suddenly goes out, and the voltage drop does not exceed the 100 volt mark, then charging will continue, thanks to the device's memory device. The whole operation of the charger is controlled by the microprocess. After the end of the charging mode, the charger automatically switches to the charging mode.

In order to use this device, it is necessary to connect the clamps of the used charger to the terminals of the battery that requires charging, while strictly observing the polarity. If the polarity is not correct, the indicators will not flash. At the next connection of the power cord plug directly into the network with a voltage of approximately 220 V, the "Automatic" indicator should light up.

The beginning of the charging process is carried out when the arrow of the current indicator deviates from the division of the current charge by more than 4 A. When the device is connected to the network, the battery is automatically charged. When charging is complete, the device in Automatic mode will enter a mode that uses trickle charging. In this case, the "Automatic" indicator stops blinking. In order to carry out disulfation (battery recovery), use the "Cycle" mode.

When operating in this mode, it is necessary to connect a load with a consumption current of about 0.5 - 1 A to the terminals of the battery, for example, you can use a car lamp, the power of which is about 6 - 12 V. When you press the "Cycle" button for 45 seconds, battery charge, while the indicator hand will fluctuate within 4 A. After the end of the charging cycle, the battery is discharged within 15 seconds.

Chargers "Kedr-Auto 4A" and "Kedr-Auto 12V"

This charger model is designed for charging, recovering lead-acid batteries with a nominal value of 12 volts and conducting training charge-charge cycles.

Power cords and connections to battery come out of the back of the device. Unlike the Kedr-M model, there is no compartment for wiring. The procedure for using the Kedr-Auto 4A charger will be shown below in the “How to use?” Section. The table below shows the main characteristics of these models.

Following is the circuit diagram Kedr-Auto 4A and Kedr-Auto 12V.

In the table you can see a list of elements indicated on the schematic diagram.

The photo below shows a printed circuit board for the manufacture of "Kedr-Auto 4A" and "Kedr-Auto 12V".

This is an improved version of the Kedr-Auto 4A charger, which was released in 2008. The manufacturer reports that the charger is designed to charge 12-volt lead-acid batteries.

What are the differences between the improved model?

  • Improved protection against incorrect connection of terminals, short circuit and overload;
  • During the assembly, modern transformers and other components are used;
  • Added prestart mode ("afterburner"). In this mode, the battery is charged with a current of 10 amperes. After that, the charger automatically switches to charging mode with a current of 4 amperes;
  • After the end of the main stage of charging "Kedr-Auto-10" automatically switches the device to recharge with a current of 0.5 ampere. This ensures the most complete battery charge and excludes overcharging.;
  • The ability to carry out desulfation in a cycle;
  • In automatic charge mode, the rated current is 4 A;
  • Service life from 5 years, subject to the instructions for use;
  • The mass of the charger is only 600 grams;
  • Warranty ─ 1 year.

The main characteristics of "Kedr-Auto-10" can be seen below:

  • Dimensions are 185 by 130 by 90 millimeters;
  • Pre-start mode with charging current up to 10 amperes;
  • Rated charging current 4 amps;
  • Power consumption is up to 250 watts;
  • The rating of the rechargeable battery is 12 volts;
  • The charger operates from a 220 volt network.

The charging time depends on the degree of rarefaction of the battery and its capacity. ZU "Kedr-Auto-10" has a microprocessor that controls charging. Including prestarting mode. All this is done when the device is switched to automatic mode. First, an increased charge current is supplied, which is then reduced to the nominal value. This speeds up the charging process.

The charger Kedr AUTO 4A is designed to charge and restore the performance of acidic lead 12-volt batteries, partially lost as a result of sulfation and oxidation of electrodes, as well as their training by carrying out charge-discharge cycles in order to increase the resource, service life and preservation.

The device Kedr AUTO 4A provides automatic shutdown at the end of the charge in the "AUTOMATIC" mode. The device has a dial indicator (ammeter) and a light indicator, which: when the "AUTOMATIC" mode is switched on - does not light up; at the end of the charge in the "AUTOMATIC" mode - blinks; when the "CYCLE" mode is turned on, it glows uniformly.

The KEDR-AUTO device provides an accelerated mode of charging a fully discharged (up to 10 V) battery with a compromise value of the initial current equal to 3 - 4 A. At the same time, after 1 - 2 hours (depending on the degree of battery discharge and voltage in the network), the value of the charging current decreases to a value of about 2 A and continues to decrease by the end of the charge to 1 A or less. This mode eliminates significant heating of the battery during charging and reduces the charging time of a fully discharged battery to 3 - 6 hours.

Before using the device, you must study the rules for the care and use of batteries.
