1. Preparation for refueling

Refilling Ricoh sp100 cartridges

Ricoh has taken a step towards users and released a series of devices with officially authorized refilling cartridges, moreover, it even sells toner for refilling cartridges. The toner is sold as a pack and has the Ricoh part number 407062. The refill of the Ricoh sp100 cartridge is designed for 2000 copies. Unlike the Xerox 3100, the Ricoh sp100 devices do not have any smart cards or other nasty things that artificially limit the life of the cartridge. For refueling, it is not necessary to run around and look for toner all over the city; ordinary toner from Samsung monochrome printers is suitable for refilling a cartridge. The highest quality print without background, stripes, blots and other artifacts was given by polyester toners (Polyester toner).

Refilling chipped cartridges Ricoh Aficio SP100 (version for Ukraine)

All of the above is relevant for Russia, but in Ukraine, Ricoh Aficio SP100 are sold already chipped. But this is not a problem for refilling the cartridge, it is enough to flash it with this firmware. The chip is based on a 5ME3 chip and any JDM type programmer can be used for firmware, IC-PROG or PonyProg can be used as a program, in the program settings when flashing, you need to specify the chip type 24c01. Conclusion

Technically, Ricoh has created a small revolution, a printer that can be refilled by the user without going to a service center, it's more like a fairy tale that has come true. Despite the fact that the cartridge does not look reliable, unlike the Samsung 1660/2160, the drum cartridge uses a normal diameter as in the hp 1010, which in turn will allow you to refill the cartridge much more than 2 times recommended by Ricoh. Of the shortcomings, only a small paper tray of only 50 sheets and a low print speed of only 13 pages per minute can be distinguished, but for a home printer these shortcomings are not critical.

So, you have become the proud owner of a Ricoh SP 100SU MFP or a Ricoh Aficio SP 100 printer. This note still describes how the Ricoh SP 100SU cartridge is refilled, however, as far as I understand, they have the same type of cartridges, so it’s suitable for both.

Before a direct description, I will make a reservation that when refueling, I personally use collective farm methods with improvised tools in haste and as a toner I use a standard toner for Samsung ML-1210/1520/1610/1640/1660/1710/2010/SCX-4 × 00/3200 kilogram canister, which is also suitable for refilling the Xerox P8E. Of course, I must tell you that it’s better to buy original cartridges and, in case of refilling, use only original Ricoh toners, but we understand that cartridges cost half, or even 2/3 of the device itself, and you need to look for original toners somewhere .

In general, I will not waste your time, let's move on to the gas station. You will need (ideally): gloves, a mask, a slotted (flat) screwdriver, a funnel (you can roll a cap with a hole from A4 sheet), a couple of bags for working out, napkins or rags for wiping the place of work and the cartridge itself, toner and cartridge. A mask will be required in order not to inhale particles of toner (you can just pull a T-shirt over your face), and gloves so as not to get your hands dirty.

So, we prepare the bag for working off, pry off the cap and uncork the waste toner bin with a screwdriver:

We turn the hole over into the prepared bag and shake out all the insides into it (if in the process it seems to you that everything is already there, believe the toner is still inside, shake it and shake out the remnants). When you are sure that there is nothing left inside, it is recommended to vacuum the inside with a special vacuum cleaner (which you, like me, most likely do not have) or blow it with compressed air (do not under any circumstances do this indoors!), so we return the lid of the hopper with working into place and wipe the cartridge.

Now open the round cap for filling:

Before falling asleep, it is better to install the cartridge with a slight slope so that the side with the hole where you pour the toner is 30 degrees higher (it is not necessary to use a protractor, the figure is taken from the ceiling). Now we insert a funnel or an alternative device and start pouring the toner into the hole (you need about 80 grams). Do not be afraid to fall asleep a little less, it is better to "overdo" than "underdo". Gently tap on the cartridge so that the toner is poured into the hopper, close the lid, wipe the cartridge and insert it back into the MFP / printer (I recommend shaking the cartridge a little beforehand). Don't forget to clean up after yourself. Everything, you can continue printing (I usually run a couple of test pages after refueling).

The Ricoh SP 101E cartridge is suitable for Ricoh Aficio , . It is officially allowed to refill this cartridge with original Ricoh toner. However, the guarantee remains in effect. Samsung ML-1210 toner is also suitable.

For Russia, Ricoh SP 101E is supplied without a chip, for Ukraine - with a chip. You will either have to reflash or look for compatible chips. For flashing, you can contact the service center. You can fill up yourself.
