On its own, a travel blog in rutube. On their own - Vitalik and Lisa - all the most interesting videos on this topic! Do you have a donation link - does such a model work in the RU segment of viewers

A travel blog on YouTube is one of the extraordinary ways to make money in the tourism niche, not only with Travelpayouts, but also with other monetization methods. Vitaliy and Lisa from the Svoim Hodom channel shared (note the author's style is saved) their experience in creating, promoting, monetizing and maintaining the channel. Over the past 7 years they have visited 42 countries and grown their channel into a popular Russian travel video blog. Now the channel has almost 200 thousand subscribers and 33 million views.

Tell us who you are, what results have you achieved so far?

We are Vitalik and Lisa - travelers and bloggers. We have been traveling for 7 years, during this time we managed to visit 42 countries and gain a reputation as a popular travel blog in Russia. Now on our YT channel "In its own way" almost 200 thousand subscribers (only 20 thousand are not enough) and 33 million views.

In addition to our video blog, we are actively developing other social networks: group in vk(63 thousand subscribers) and instagram(255 thousand subscribers).

Our blog is about the fact that independent travel is possible and necessary for everyone, and we only suggest how to make it easier, cheaper and more interesting.

Experience in the development of VK publics, a network of Instagram channels

Now we are fully engaged in our project, and few people remember that just over a year ago we had one of the largest networks on Instagram of 18 pages for 2.5 million subscribers and VK group for 1 million subscribers(By the way, perhaps this is the only thing we still pay attention and time to).

We promoted the VK group a very long time ago, when the public had just begun to emerge (2011) and our mistake was not to make a few more groups. Then investments in the public were minimal - only 30 thousand rubles and we have a group of 100 thousand subscribers. Then, up to 1 million, we promoted it absolutely free of charge with the help of exchanges and free advertising between publics.

Then Instagram appeared and began to gain popularity in Russia (2014), and, remembering past experience, we immediately created a network of entertaining pages: about books, horoscopes, movies, English, gifts and life hacks. More than 200 thousand were already invested in the first two pages, but the rest of the network was promoted in just six months, which brought good results.

We can say that we "caught the wave", and for about three years it slowly rolled towards the coast, bringing a good income.

Why did you end up with travel blogging on YouTube?

In short, this is our dream. Traveling, but not just like that, but sharing something useful with people, inspiring and motivating them. That is why all the projects that we were engaged in (the same publics), they were just an auxiliary element, a business that brings money for the most important thing - our travels.

We invested all the money in our channel and in trips. And just recently (about a year ago) the moment came when we decided to drop all other projects and deal only with the blog. Because if you want to achieve something, then you need to devote 100% of your time to it.

When and how did you get the idea to create your own travel video blog?

The channel was created by Vitalik when he came from the army and wanted to upload his videos. Then we did not know each other, and even more so did not think that there would be some kind of project. When we met in 2011, after 10 days we went on the first trip (not on our own, by the way), then on another.

From each such trip, we brought small video cuts, from which we made clips of 3-5 minutes. There was no talk of a channel then. And in 2012-2013, our first long wintering in Asia took place, Thailand became the first country, then there were Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia - as a result, we left for 8 months.

We also shot small clips for ourselves, but friends and acquaintances began to ask us questions. The usual questions like how to leave, how to rent a bike, etc. And we decided "Let's voice our videos and make instructions for those who will go to Thailand."

We threw off one link to everyone and it was not necessary to answer the same questions 100 times. These videos are still on our channel, they are the very first. That's where the project started, came up with a name and began to upload it to the same channel that we had created.

There were no video blogs back then, YT was in its infancy, there were no travel blogs, we had no one to look at and do the same. We did what we thought was interesting. Therefore, the path to what we have now, we had a very long 😉

How does this combination of video blog + classic site work, what helps what?

The site does not help in any way, because it is not so popular. Previously, many articles were written on him, but there is not enough time and now he is just like a business card. If the site is well promoted, then it helps a lot in promoting the video, because when you post a video to the site, Youtube counts the transitions from external sources and this is well appreciated. Roughly speaking, it's like posting a link.

How does the YouTube + VK link work?

In addition to the channel, it is very important to have other social networks.

Firstly, each person is used to and most of all uses only one (maximum two) social networks. It is important to communicate and cross-publish across all networks. This is how new subscribers to the channel are attracted.

Secondly, the group is just a great means of communication and ADDITIONS to the channel. For example, in a group, you can post photos, some stories from life, or just announcements of events. People in real time know where we are and follow us (on Youtube there is still a lag from real time). Someone will find out about the release of new videos from the VK group, while they may not even be subscribed to the channel. Plus, this is an additional income - you can sell ads in a group.

About the specifics of the topic, its advantages and its difficulties

Perhaps the travel theme is one of the most difficult channels to promote. You can't just sit in front of the camera and tell how beautiful the Maldives is. You have to go there and film everything. First of all, this requires money, and secondly, you need to process a ton of information on the Internet and look for your life hacks.

After a day of filming, you have to come to your hotel, edit and upload the video, but usually in Asia or in other countries, the Internet leaves much to be desired. Video can be uploaded for 3-5 days.

The content does not lie underfoot - in order to shoot an interesting travel blog (especially now), you need to constantly invent something (there are few people interested in ordinary trips around Thailand).

Also, the difficulty lies in the fact that not all people travel. The reasons for this are different, but YT is more visited to relax and have fun, watch something funny and get distracted from work. That is why we have travel show formats when we travel with a team, and we get a mini DOM-2. It is more interesting to watch such a show under the sauce of travel.

There are, of course, advantages too. Traveling is like a drug, you try it once and get hooked forever. With us it is already just a way of life, and it is difficult to imagine it in any other way. It is very interesting, develops you, constantly throws up surprises and obstacles that you have to overcome. Traveling introduces us to amazing people who become our friends. This is great!

Traveling is easy to shoot, you don't need a script and so on. You shoot your feelings or people around - this is your content.

The audience is a separate and biggest plus. Our audience (albeit small compared to millionaires), but it is lively, bright, energetic and mature. Adult means solvent, so advertising is more expensive 😉

What is important for maintaining and developing a travel channel?

Oddly enough, the first is the technical part: coming up with good trendy names, prescribing tags, etc. The second is external content: high-quality and interesting content, be yourself and see what is popular right now. Try to fit your travel theme into what people are interested in now. It is important to communicate with the audience, respond to comments, arrange meetings, make contests, give gifts.

What are the main expenses for channel development?

Now the average price of advertising for bloggers is from 50-100 thousand, for the tops 300-800 thousand. So far, we are not ready to invest that kind of money (and without a guarantee of subscribers coming). We can say that we do not spend anything on the channel: only our time, which, in fact, is the most valuable.

All expenses are the trips themselves (from $ 2000 per month) and, of course, equipment that often breaks down.

What is the most efficient way to spend time + money while developing a travel channel?

Personally, we would spend money on good equipment for a high-quality picture (which we already did) and on an editor who would edit the releases. This frees up time (the most valuable) for filming and for generating interesting ideas. Installation takes most of the time and therefore it is worth delegating.

About the income of travel bloggers

It's simple: more views = more money from embedded ads. Channel earnings depend not only on the number of views, but also on the audience of the channel. For example, an inline ad on a kids channel costs $1-2 per 1,000 views, while an inline ad on a business channel can cost $6-9 per 1,000 views. Of course, the number of views for a children's channel and a business will be different.

Inline ads are shown before the start (or at the end). You can skip it, and sometimes you can’t (Youtube decides this), and if you can’t, then it’s valued higher. And also pop-up banners (we put 3-4 pieces on a video in 30 minutes)

Another type of income is cooperation with various companies and brands. The most popular ways are pre-roll (30 seconds insert before the video) and integration (native mention of a product or service embedded in the content). There may be a flight of your imagination or impudence, since bloggers have prices from 30 thousand to 2 million for cooperation.

What else can you earn? Selling your courses (infobusiness), any affiliate links (for flights, hotels, insurance, etc.), cashbacks, and more. Full list of available programs.

You can read more about the information business in tourism, who shared his experience in selling information products for travelers.

How do you attract advertisers?

In addition, we do not attract in any way, we work with those who wrote it themselves. To do this, we have left contacts in the group, on the channel and on Instagram. Private messages are open EVERYWHERE, mail, Whatsapp, including direct + all messengers.

How to sell services from the YT channel?

The most important thing (what we adhere to) is to advertise the product that you yourself use or would definitely use. That is, something that carries information or value for people.

For example, we never advertise casinos, bets, etc. We try to advertise travel-related products, but it's important to be honest about what you think and not be led by the advertiser. Respect your audience - they will respect and listen to you.

What works better, the button inside the video, or the link in the description?

To be honest, we do not follow such statistics, but as in the example with social networks, it is better to use all methods. Something tells you that if you say in the video that the link is in the description, then it will work better than the button in the video - many do not even know about its existence, but everyone is used to links and knows where the description is.

Do you have a donation link - does such a model work in the RU segment of viewers?

She works on the streams that we sometimes do.

Chips for channel and video promotion

The most important thing is to optimize the video well (tags, query) and come up with an intriguing title. The secret is simple - bring the video to the recommended ones. The more it is recommended, the more views it will get.

The cover for the video is also important. Ideally, the cover for the video should not duplicate the title, but complement it (that is, the inscriptions should not be duplicated on the title and on the cover, but this is very difficult to do and not always possible). The cover should evoke the WOW! then you want to click on it.

Clickbait is a very popular topic these days, but don't overdo it. Unnecessary people come to the channel and put a dislike for it, while not subscribing to the channel or subscribing, but not "your" people. In a word - it does not bring anything good.

You need to know what number of views per hour for your video is normal, or above average. When a video comes out, you look at this metric. If it is lower, then the video does not enter, then draw conclusions (the wrong time the video was published, the wrong title, the wrong picture) - in this case, it is better to immediately change the title and picture.

In the first hours of the video, maximum publication is needed on all possible resources (we upload it to all groups and publics).

Interaction with the audience: it is important that they write comments. If everything is vanilla and sweet, people won't write. Video is important to evoke people's emotions: it can be good or bad. Therefore, you can deliberately make mistakes in the video (people like to correct it), do something intentionally that infuriates (we have it to slurp, lick your fingers - it didn’t happen on purpose, but people write about it), focus on the little things, ask their advice.

Asking people to like it helps too.

Listen to your audience if they tell you to change or do something. Of course, you can’t please everyone, but if, for example, through a comment, a message that “the sound is shit”, then you should change the microphone. But then again, there is a fine line here, if they say don’t champ, but you champ in all the videos - so this can be your trick 🙂

What do you think about travel blogging in English?

By the way, also heavily promoted content. We know several travel channels in English - this is cool, but if you are originally Russian-speaking, but it will be difficult to blog in English, and it’s completely unrealistic to get promoted, in the English-speaking segment all topics have long been occupied. But, by the way, earnings in the USA are 3-5 times higher than in Russia on YT.

What advice would you give to someone who decides to travel blogging on Youtube in 2019?

Come up with your own format, your own chip. If you want to start another travel blog, the same as everyone else, then it’s better not to. And enter immediately with the quality of content and with something trendy.

There are many myths about making money online. Someone thinks that such income cannot be high, for someone freelancing is associated with network marketing and fraud. But there are other people as well. One of them is Vitaly Ichin and Liza Gracheva. This pair of young entrepreneurs, video bloggers and infobusinessmen. In just 4.5 years of hard work, the guys managed to climb to the top of the freelance Olympus. Now young travelers have their own YouTube channel of many thousands, have a network of well-promoted accounts on Instagram and VK. The story of the guys is a powerful motivator for ambitious young people who do not want to spend their best years in the office.

Petersburgers 29-year-old Vitaly Ichin and 27-year-old Liza Gracheva are the authors and founders of the travel project “On Your Own”. This young couple left boring offline jobs, Russian colds and routine far behind. And now, for 4.5 years, Russian freelancers have been traveling and traveling around exotic hot countries.

The guys are incredibly positive YouTube bloggers with almost worldwide fame. They do not consider themselves to be either millionaires or tough businessmen. Young people have visited 34 countries of the world, bought real estate in Russia, have accounts in large banks, which already have savings. In an interview, Vitalik and Lisa openly say that interest on deposits is another source of monthly, albeit small, but income.

Communicating with subscribers on Periscope, the guys easily share life hacks and give useful tips on making money online. They talk about their ever-growing income from advertising on VK and Instagram, and they also have affiliate programs, paid video courses, shooting with a quadcopter from the air and many other ways to earn money in their arsenal.

- How it all began? How did you get into freelancing?

Vitaly: In 2011, I returned to St. Petersburg from the army and got a dull job as a security guard in an amusement park. The gray realities of St. Petersburg did not please at all. The work brought 18 thousand rubles, but I even managed to save. In his free time, he was engaged in a group in VK, made beautiful pictures for posts, mastered Photoshop and other editors. After some time, I realized that you can earn real money on the group. By that time, working as a security guard, I had saved about 30 thousand rubles. I took a chance and invested them in the promotion of the "Diary of Success" group. The project took off. The first 100,000 subscribers were collected in just a month. The first money came from advertising. Up to 10 advertising posts could be ordered from me per day. One post then cost 500-700 rubles.

Vitaly: After some time, the audience of the Success Diary group grew to 800,000 subscribers. In proportion to attendance, advertising prices also increased. For one post, they easily paid 1000-1500 rubles. It was at this time that I met Lisa. She became my muse and inspiration. With advertising revenue, we went on vacation to Turkey (Marmaris), and then went to Thailand for the winter.

Lisa: Now the group has almost 950,000 subscribers. We exchanged posts in partner groups, thereby expanding the audience. Such mutual PR is one of the main strategies for the development of groups and publics in VK. Advertising from us was bought quite often. Vitalik and I thought that it would always be like this.

- Have you had any failures? Or is your life a solid rainbow movie?

Vitaly: Of course there were. And more than once. I will now talk about the most powerful thrash that happened to us at the end of 2014. At that time, a crisis came to Russia, and with it the solvency of advertisers fell - those who ordered commercial posts in our group. That dark day has come. We lived then in Bali. Suddenly, the demand for advertising dropped to 1-2 orders per week. The last 15 thousand rubles remained on our cards. Behind - happy days. There is uncertainty ahead. We didn't even have money to buy tickets to Russia and return home.

Strategy Mistake #2: “We drank and spent ALL the money without thinking about the future.” I didn't think about tomorrow. Lived here and now. Lisa and I had fun traveling. We thought that such a chocolate life would never end. We were wrong. But now we know for sure: you need to think about where you will be in a month and a year.

- How did you get out of the crisis? What have they done?

Vitaly: On a warm Balinese evening we sat by the sea and talked. They made plans. Dreamed. Speaking of dreams: we never lost heart for a moment ...

Out of the corner of our ears, we heard about a new and still incomprehensible service for Russians - Instagram. This topic is of great interest to us. And no wonder. According to the guys-instagrammers, for one advertising post in an account promoted to 100 thousand subscribers, you can take up to 10,000 rubles.

We borrowed 200,000 rubles from relatives and invested in the promotion of two communities on Instagram: books and horoscopes. The promotion took a very long time - as much as 3 months. All this time we worked almost 20 hours a day and lived in the cheapest room in Bali. We worked on Moscow time - this was required by the promotion strategy. After 90 days of hard work, our Instagram profiles had 100,000 followers each. We started doing paid advertising. And, lo and behold, our hopes came true - this is a mega-demanded segment. Now we have a network of 18 accounts, and our personal popular Instagram page. The total audience on Instagram from all accounts exceeds 2 million people. When we started, there was little competition, prices were high, and advertising was bought frequently. Now the market is filled with many pages with the same theme, the competition has become very high, and, accordingly, earnings from advertising have fallen by about 3 times. We feel that the days of uncertainty will come again soon. But this time we are ready for such a turn, as there are already plans for new projects that we are starting to develop now.

Now we have a network of 18 accounts, and our personal popular Instagram page. The total audience on Instagram from all accounts exceeds 2 million people.

- Guys, tell us about your YouTube channel. How much income do you get from videos?

Lisa: Our video blog “On our own” is our whole life. The brainchild that we have just begun to develop at a decent level. This whole project is based on the pure enthusiasm of two people, that is, ourselves. We love making videos and sharing them. We used to shoot rather amateur films while traveling - just as a keepsake. Then we decided to create a travel channel, and now this is a whole video blog with a three-year history and a huge amount of useful information. Youtube is another very lucrative niche, but becoming popular and gaining millions of views is very difficult. While we are at the stage of development, and the income from the channel is very small - $ 200-300 per month. We have several cameras, a quadcopter for filming from the air, stabilizers, microphones and other “gadgets” necessary for filming, we shoot very high-quality videos and spend 80% of our time on video, so we hope that our efforts will be justified and the channel will become really popular.

Strategy Mistake #3: You can earn a LOT on YouTube and NOT on Google Adsense. For a long time, we shot and posted travel videos more for the soul than for making money. But in fact, the YouTube channel is a gold mine. The audience is more than loyal, you can sell information. Many bloggers earn hundreds of thousands of rubles a month selling courses through affiliate programs.

- What do you expect from the promotion of the YouTube channel "On Your Own"?

Vitaly: The video blog does not bring a lot of money yet, but this income can be classified as one of the most stable. This is my dream job. You don't owe anything to anyone, you shoot for your own pleasure. You are truly free. Friends, there is nothing more valuable than freedom!

Now we are actively earning on affiliate programs, and yes - this brings us up to 25% of the total income in freelancing. We traveled far and wide through Thailand, Bali, Indonesia and the Philippines. We visited the Maldives and filmed a series of videos for our subscribers. We do not advertise cool hotels and places where millionaires "live". It's boring. Our videos contain real adventures, countries and cities through the eyes of ordinary tourists. That is why our channel is popular.

– Why do you rent budget hotels and eat in street eateries in every new country? Why don't you choose a more expensive type of tourism?

Vitaly: Who needs all this show off? Our audience is the same freelance guys as we are. We are united by many things: a thirst for adventure, a passion for travel, FREEDOM from stereotypes, work "for an uncle" and domestic realities. Therefore, when we arrive in a new country, we settle in ordinary hotels, show ordinary restaurants and cafes - places where locals and middle-income tourists go. And it's cool! We have chosen a different path - the path of a free life where we want, that is, somewhere warm. Approximate expenses per month for us are $ 1000 for two, which is quite a bit. And it's better for us to live somewhere in a budget hotel in Bali than in rainy St. Petersburg.

- Guys, tell us about your plans for the future.

Lisa: Work, work and more work. The development of new accounts on Instagram, increasing the client base - advertising buyers, paid shooting of clips from a quadrocopter (we also earn money on this), self-realization. We will visit new countries and show videos of the most unusual corners of the planet. Nothing holds us. We are free and determined. Our thirst for adventure will never run dry!

Vitaly: My biggest dream, which is also an immediate plan, is to travel around the USA in a cozy trailer. Also, Lisa and I want to travel all over South America and shoot a bunch of videos for our regular subscribers. The most important thing is that the Internet does not let us down. For example, in Singapore and Thailand this is not a problem. There are WiFi hotspots on almost every corner. And in the Philippines and Vietnam - the Internet is only through very, very slow 3G. The hardest part is uploading videos. It's a shame when you start uploading a video to YouTube, a day passes, on the screen "download 99%", and then the video crashes, you have to start from scratch.

My biggest dream, which is also an immediate plan, is to travel around the USA in a cozy trailer. Also, Lisa and I want to travel all over South America and shoot a bunch of videos for our regular subscribers.

What place on earth do you think is the best?

Interview hero

The first trip was to Thailand For five years we have been in 39 countries Favorite place on the world map - Bali island, Indonesia On the road we miss the Internet

Arrivo: I confess, I got hooked on your YouTube channel - a week passed watching videos. Do you review them yourself? You know, some actors say, "I never watch my films."

Liza and Vitalik: Sometimes we like to sit down in the evening and watch a series or two. But there is no time to watch all the videos, too much has accumulated. The funniest thing is when someone leaves a comment under an old video, you come in to reply and get stuck on your own videos (smile).

To me, traveling is like acting. If taken too seriously, the trip will be uneventful. Do you agree?

If you take everything seriously while traveling, then there will be no pleasure from the trip. You have to be able to completely rebuild and not pay attention to many things (garbage, for example).

Well, after returning from another trip, you are already a completely different person.

You start each video with the phrase “Hello everyone, guys!” You smile. And just radiate happiness. Is this also a game on camera or are you the same behind the scenes?

We try not to record videos in a bad mood, it is immediately transmitted to the viewer. Also, there is no negativity in our videos - there is enough of it in life anyway. And if we talk about something bad, then with optimism. We help people recharge, not sit at home and not be sad.

In life we are just as groovy, funny and love to communicate, shoot videos - we enjoy it!

Who is your boss? If Vitalik both shoots and edits videos, what does Liza do usefully?

Lisa does the rest (smile). Lisa is the brain of the team, the whole organizational part rests on her: from the route to finances. Lisa communicates with the audience, answers questions, advises and much, much more. Sometimes it seems that Lisa works more than Vitalik (smile). Lisa also inspires and gives a kick in the ass when you need it.

I can't help but ask: what does it mean to move on your own? Where did you leave, where are you now and where are you going?

A year ago, we chose countries based on only three principles: warm, cheap, we were not there. Now that we have visited most of Asia, half of the criteria have disappeared. Drawing up a concept for the winter of 2016-2017 looked something like this: Vitalik compiled a list of countries for the next six months in an evening, and in order not to jump off the planned route, he did it in the form of tours. We invite you join us on the journey!*

* Interview was recorded in winter 2017

The country is not that important. We have been to the same places several times - Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines. Impressions are always different.

Traveling on your own means the way you want, not the way you were told. This is a journey that does not hold or bind.

It is now January 2017, we are in the Philippines and we have a 21-day trip around the islands, and literally in half a month we are going to explore the paradise island of Mauritius. No one knows where the journey will lead, only time will tell.

Our editor once noticed that the travelers are intertwined with each other. For example, you are giving an interview, and Vitalik is cut by a traveling hairdresser. . Feel like part of the party? Which travelers do you communicate with?

We know and communicate with almost all travelers. Some have never met, but the Internet allows you to practically "live with them." You know everything that happens to them, and it seems that you know the person personally (smile). True, the number of travelers is growing, we do not have time to follow everyone.

We are always pleased to communicate with like-minded people. These are so unique, interesting and sociable people, each with their own history, but one thing unites us - travel! And being a part of it is very cool and cool!

I wanted to hug you ... You have blogs on all platforms, the most popular are YouTube and Instagram. I conclude: a novice blogger should go here. Where did you start? Are you satisfied with what you have achieved in five years?

Not really. The topic of travel is the least popular and profitable of all, sadly. We don't leave her just because we like it. The whole project is driven by passion. Yes, of course, if you think that five years ago we had nothing, and now we are more or less recognizable in this area, then we should probably be proud of it. But [in other topics] people promote channels to a million subscribers in a year. It becomes a little sad and insulting that they chose travel.

We used to just shoot short videos (3-5 minutes) for home video to keep the memories. Then we left for the winter in Thailand, and then messages from friends and acquaintances rained down with questions, how and what, where to rent a bike, how is it to leave? And we decided to voice the video, shoot instructions for traveling to certain places. This is how the first video “On Your Own” about the island of Koh Chang and Koh Samui appeared. Whole hours of movies that people use as a guide for beginners when traveling to the islands.

Well, now we have changed the format to live. Every year it gets more and more interesting.

What is happening on YouTube right now? There is a video where small children open Kinder Surprises, the father films it on camera. Each video has 20 million views!

YouTube in Russia has just begun to develop, and rapidly. This is a topic for a separate interview. We are spinning in this area, we know a lot of things and can tell, but not on the topic “How to promote your channel” (smile). Let's say one thing - every content has its own audience.

Instagram - what are the trends now? As far as I understand, you either like it or not. What are you doing to be popular there?

Instagram constantly, daily, you need to "feed, comb your hair and take care of him." Posting posts, communicating with the audience, answering questions, organizing contests and being as useful, kind and bringing something good as possible.

In addition to all this, we invest in advertising. Without advertising, it is very difficult to promote anything - this applies not only to Instagram, but also to other social networks. We focus on it only because there is a lot of activity there. People are interested in the project "On their own", and we are interested in sharing information.

When you travel, you are constantly counting something and - it seems - all the time you think about money. Is it so?

Yes, unfortunately, we are not millionaires, work is unstable, and earnings are always different and floating. Every day we think about how you can earn more, what to do and what to do (smile).

We do not count every penny, but we do not live in a big way either.

Comment from one of your subscribers: “In all honesty, they do not know how to travel on a budget. But they're cool." I agree with the second part. What about the first one?

Hand on heart, we are one of the most budget and thoughtful travelers. More than one hundred people have already traveled along our routes in Sri Lanka, the Maldives and the Philippines, and a lot of money has been saved.

Now we are traveling with a team, and each participant saves up to 70% of real prices (wink). Of course, we are growing, and so is the level of travel. We can afford a more expensive hotel, but within reason. We always focus on the average viewer so that he can follow our route and repeat it all.

Videos on the channel come out late. The United States and India are now alternating. And it turns out in contrast. Are you doing this on purpose? Which of these trips would you like to repeat?

We do it on purpose, because the audience is divided into two camps: some are waiting for the United States, others for India. Moreover, the demand for the United States is small and there are few views, while India interested everyone with its color.

Definitely, I would return to the USA to travel, but due to the fact that these videos do not go on the channel, the USA has no immediate plans yet.

Which unfavorable (dangerous) country will you go to “for views” next time?

Let it be a secret, but we think that it will be one of the countries of South America.

The downside is press tours: a five-star hotel in Turkey, a cruise on the Baltic Sea, or a wine ad in Italy. Besides free food and entertainment, what do these trips give you? It's terribly boring.

There are only two or three such trips a year. On the contrary, we love them. Firstly, it is an opportunity to touch something more than we usually allow ourselves. To feel what it is like to live in a big way, in order to understand what to strive for. Secondly, such trips are fundamentally different from traveling on their own. For us, such trips are an unusual format.

Everything that is unusual - is of interest.

Food on the video you pay, perhaps, the most attention. They admitted that they love Burger King. Both are in excellent shape though. How?

We move a lot and lead an active lifestyle. I would like to devote more time to this: going to the gym, eating right - it's insanely difficult when traveling because of the crazy travel schedule.

Another point that does not fit in my head is magnets. You buy them in every city, in foreign currency, at a tremendous rate... What does your refrigerator look like?

Long gone from the fridge to the wall (smile). We bought a huge wall-sized magnetic board and hung it in the kitchen. A map of the world is pasted on the board and it is there that all the magnets are attached.

This is an inspiration board, when you look at it - you understand how great you live.

In all this whirlwind of events, how often are you at home? What do you feel when you return to your hometown: is Petersburg more pleasing or annoying?

We love our city so much! We return home with pleasure! Petersburg is parents and friends. Tasty food. Fresh air (unlike stuffy Asia). But we do not return often, we usually leave for a long time - from six months or more. Once we did not return for two years, now we are trying to come at least for the summer.

The last two questions are separate. Vitalik, it seemed to me that this was your phrase: “You can travel around the world in search of sunsets, but the most beautiful is inside. Then all the sunsets of the world evoke warm feelings.” If Lisa asks, will you meet the dawn with her? Have to get up early.

Of course yes (smiles). Not often, but sometimes we get up with Lisa at 4-5 in the morning and go somewhere on a bike to a beautiful view point to meet the dawn. Ideally, take some hot coffee or chocolate with you.

Quote and question to Lisa: “At that time I was fond of puzzles, collected canvases from 9000 pieces, participated in championships and once won a trip to Barcelona. But I didn’t even have a passport!” How is your life puzzle with Vitalik?

Vitalik is like a detail that has four different sides and you need to join each one in your own way (smiles four smiles). In a relationship, it is important to find an approach and listen to each other.

So we add up perfectly, like two halves, sometimes even different sides.

On this page, we wrote the history of the origin of the project "In Own Move" each from ourselves. You will be able to briefly get to know us and find out how our life developed BEFORE the trip, how we met and how we began to discover the world together!

“I was born and raised in one of the most beautiful Russian cities - my beloved St. Petersburg. Until 2011, the words remote work, travel and islands were familiar to me only by hearsay. I saw the sea only a few times in the Crimea, and in several cities of Russia I was only passing through.

“I spent all my childhood and student years in the small town of Kirovsk. Not far from St. Petersburg. Kindergarten, school, college... Nothing out of the ordinary. The St. Petersburg Technical School of Railway Transport was supposed to make me a specialist in Automated Control Systems (ACS), but in the 3rd year everything somehow went wrong.

We will be very happy if you answer write a story about yourself, even a small one.

We are preparing a big project to make money on the Internet. And hope that your story will help not only us in creating a project, but also you to find or create your own remote work, thanks to which you can freely travel around the world and not be tied to a specific place. We all have cool hobbies. But by and large, they do not generate income and the ability to travel. We want to fix it!
