Testing tools and methodology

For a more visual comparison of video cards and processors, the game used as a test application was run at 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 resolutions.

The Fraps 3.5.9 Build 15586 and AutoHotkey v1.0.48.05 utilities were used as performance measurement tools. Measured in the game minimum and average FPS values. VSync was disabled during tests.

Minimum and average FPS

Hitman, Square Enix has released the system requirements for the PC version of the game. Information about the required computer configuration appeared on the stealth action page on the Steam store.

To run the game, users will only need a PC equipped with an Intel Core i5-2500K processor with clock frequency 3.3 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 graphics and 8 GB of RAM. It should be noted that the recently released Rise of the Tomb Raider on this platform has more modest requirements in the case of all three components. A less powerful PC is also required for Fallout 4.

Those planning to play at high graphics settings will need a computer equipped with an Intel Core i7-3770 processor with a clock speed of 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 with a clock speed of 4 GHz and a graphics accelerator no worse than NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 290. The cost of compared platforms excluding discrete graphics Nvidia's are almost equal, the addition of the GT 730/740 increases the cost of the Intel platform, but both platforms still fall within the 26,000 - 32,000 price range. Obviously, the configurations we have chosen do not even meet the minimum requirements stated by the game developers, so in this case we should expect low performance, insufficient for good playability.

It should be noted right away that the test on the graphics integrated into the Intel Core i3 failed: the game produced artifacts.

The difference between pictures at standard and minimum quality settings is visually felt. At the minimum settings, the quality drops noticeably.

Testing methodology

Our goal is to demonstrate how the player feels in real-life gameplay, so we just play to read the benchmarks, including the FPS counters (using the FRAPS program) to give a rough representation of the performance.

Test results

Unfortunately, by software record videos demonstrating performance on a particular platform (in different modes), failed due to the complete blocking of the keyboard (except for the keys allocated for gameplay) from the side of the game - as a result, it is not possible to start and stop recording the gameplay. We recorded the gameplay using a video camera, so that all videos are presented in Full resolution HD (in camcorder mode):
