We also considered the availability of unlimited traffic options for social networks and instant messengers, because you can’t do without them.

With regard to unlimiteds, it is important to consider the following: they do not apply to third-party links in applications, to old versions of applications, traffic going through VPN - all this will consume the main package.

A couple more warnings and we will review.

1. We did not consider connection speed, reviews and other criteria for the quality of the work of operators (but you can read our analysis of these parameters), but focused solely on prices.
2. Tariffs are considered for Moscow and the Moscow region, prices in other regions may differ, this should be clarified on the websites of the operators.

MTS

"Hype"

The tariff of the MTS operator with the fashionable name "Hype" will help you to always be in the know. It provides unlimited access to popular social networks, instant messengers and entertainment applications. For other services, the user is allocated 7 GB of traffic. Payment for this tariff is 500 r. per month (71.4 rubles per gigabyte), rented daily in the first month after connection, then once in the billing period. Mobile Internet is valid when traveling in Russia.

In addition, this service includes 100 minutes of calls to numbers of any operators in Moscow, the Moscow region and MTS Russia, as well as 200 SMS to all numbers in the home region. Calls to MTS remain free even after the minutes have expired. It is important to note that unused traffic, minutes and SMS do not roll over to the next month, but are reset.

"My Unlimited"

"My Unlimited" lives up to its name, as it easily adapts to the needs of the user. Here you can set the amount of traffic, the number of minutes and SMS. For example, for 510 r. per month you will receive 15 GB of internet (34.1 rubles per 1 GB), 300 minutes and SMS. The tariff is also beneficial for other traffic sizes: 20 GB, 300 minutes and SMS messages will cost 630 rubles. per month (31.5 rubles per 1 GB), and 30 GB with the same number of minutes and messages at 750 rubles. (25 rubles per gigabyte). Moreover, the fee for the first month in both cases is 570 rubles. This tariff provides for a daily subscription fee and is valid throughout the country. If you use the traffic reserve before the end of the month, then an additional gigabyte will be connected automatically, and 150 rubles will be debited from your account. To prevent such surprises from happening, keep track of the rest of the traffic in your personal account.

The package of minutes allows you to call to all numbers in the Russian Federation, and SMS can only be sent to numbers in Moscow and Moscow Region. Tariff balances are not carried over to the next billing period. The "My Unlimited" tariff is quite flexible and beneficial for medium and large volumes of traffic, provided that the minimum number of minutes and messages is selected.

"Vseti" service

This option provides unlimited access to social networks and instant messengers. It is free for some plans, including My Unlimited. For the rest, the cost is 4 p. per day (120 rubles for 30 days). In order for services to be billed correctly, it is important to use official applications or mobile versions of sites.

Tele2

Line "My Tele2"

The basic tariff "My Tele2" offers 5 GB of traffic per month for 7 rubles. per day (210 rubles for 30 days, 42 rubles / 1 GB). This is the most advantageous offer with a small Internet package (5-9 GB) from Tele2.

"My Conversation", "My Online", "My Online+"

The remaining tariffs of this line can be conveniently configured depending on your preferences. Let's try to configure them in such a way as to achieve the maximum benefit in cost per gigabyte. 15 GB per month with a minimum number of minutes (200) can be obtained for 380 rubles. And 30 GB and 200 minutes can be connected for 500 rubles / month. This is already more profitable than the basic configurations, but you can go further.

In the described tariffs, there is an option to exchange minutes for gigabytes. In this case, 1 min is converted into 10.24 MB. By exchanging our 200 minutes for 2 additional GB, we get 17 GB for 380 rubles. and 32 GB for 500 rubles, which will reduce the price per gigabyte to 22.3 rubles. and 15.6 p. respectively. This will allow us to achieve the most favorable mobile Internet conditions from Tele2 for medium (10-15 GB) and large (more than 20 GB) package sizes. At the same time, the Internet will work throughout the country. The exchange operation can be performed through your personal account or using a special command.

Despite the fact that we exchanged all the minutes for gigabytes, we still have free calls to Tele2 numbers in our home region and Russia and 50 SMS to any numbers (you can even use it when traveling around the country).

A distinctive feature of Tele2 tariffs is that the rest of the Internet, messages and minutes is transferred to the next billing period (this does not apply only to traffic accrued in exchange for minutes).

The described Tele2 tariffs allow you to use popular social networks and instant messengers without restrictions.

Megaphone

"Internet S"

MegaFon does not provide tariffs for smartphones with a small internet package (5-9 GB). However, it is possible to activate the Internet S service, which gives the user 5 GB per month for 400 rubles. (80 rubles for 1 GB). This option on the smartphone will only work in the home region. You can activate the service through the MegaFon application, personal account, using a special command or SMS.

Line "Turn on!"

Tariffs of the line "Turn on!" are the most economical among those that provide medium to high volume traffic. Let's look at two of them with minimal costs per GB: “Turn on! Communicate" and "Turn on! Look+. Both tariffs provide unlimited traffic to social networks and messengers, and the second also provides unlimited access to watching videos on YouTube, Rutube and Vimeo. Until August 31, 2018, you can use popular music services in the metro for free. And don't forget that unlimited use is only possible with official apps and the latest versions of browsers. Tariff "Turn on! Communicate" offers an average Internet package of 15 GB for other services for 600 rubles. per month (40 rubles per gigabyte), as well as 600 minutes of calls to any numbers in the country. And when you connect the tariff “Turn on! Look+” with a subscription fee of 1000 rubles, you will receive 30 GB of network traffic for other services (33.3 rubles per 1 GB) and 1500 minutes of calls to all numbers in the country. Calls to MegaFon Russia numbers remain free of charge even after the minutes have expired. The advantage is that the packages of minutes and internet are valid throughout the country. And the downside is that the balances are not carried over to the next billing period.

Beeline

Line "EVERYTHING"

In the tariffs of this line, by analogy with Tele2, you can change minutes to gigabytes. Only here the exchange can be made in both directions, and SMS messages are also used. Conversion can be done immediately upon connection or later in your personal account.

For example, the standard tariff "Everything 1" provides 3 GB of Internet, 300 minutes and SMS for 400 rubles. per month. Having exchanged 100 minutes and 300 SMS for gigabytes, we will get a variant with 6 GB, 200 minutes and no messages for the same money (400 rubles per month, 66.6 rubles per GB). This is the most favorable condition for a small internet package.

The average package of network traffic can be obtained at the tariff "ALL 2" in its basic configuration. For 600 r. per month, it offers 15 GB (40 rubles per GB), 500 minutes and 300 SMS.

The tariff "Vsyomoyo 3" can be configured in such a way that for 900 r. per month you will be credited with 29 GB of Internet (only 31.03 rubles per GB) and 900 minutes of calls. All SMS at the same time converted into gigabytes.

Payment for the tariffs of this line is debited daily. Mobile Internet operates throughout the territory of the Russian Federation. Remaining balances are not carried over to the next billing period.

Minutes are used when calling to the numbers of any operators in the home region and Beeline Russia. At the same time, calls to users with the same tariff plan (the "VSE" line) do not consume a package of minutes. After the expiration of the reserve of minutes, calls to Beeline Russia numbers remain free of charge. SMS messages can be spent on all numbers in the home region.

Comparison of considered tariffs

According to the results of the comparison, Tele2's tariffs win on all criteria, except for the last one. They have a minimum cost per 1 GB of internet, so they are more economical for users who spend a lot of time online. As for unlimited services, MTS is in the lead here with its “Online” option. It is important to note that social networking and messenger applications often use external services, redirect to other resources that are not included in the package of unlimited services. Therefore, it is better to connect such services to tariffs that have some kind of basic Internet package.

In parallel with the current tariffs, archival tariffs are in effect until the subscriber switches to a new price offer. In such a variety it is not difficult to get lost. A comparison of the Big Four flagship service packages is presented below (1).

Which mobile plan to choose?

In connection with the constant expansion of the capabilities of our gadgets, it is rational to offer subscribers tariff packages that combine several services (for example, voice communications, SMS messages and mobile Internet). It is more convenient and cheaper for subscribers to purchase a range of services, and operators can earn on services that are not included in the subscription fee. Tariff packages are differentiated by the number of included services, their limit (GB, free minutes, number of SMS) and the needs of the subscriber (mobile Internet, home network calls, roaming, etc.). All this determines the cost of packages.

It should be noted that there is no universal or ideal tariff. The MegaFon operator also offers its subscribers five combinations of tariff packages costing from 250 rubles. up to 2,000 rubles per month. The volume of calls within your network in your home region is unlimited, which cannot be said about long-distance calls to MegaFon. In two budget packages (the tariff "All Inclusive XS" and "All Inclusive S"), the limit of minutes included in the subscription fee applies, among other things, to calls to MegaFon outside the home region. Despite the name of the tariff plans, all services are included only in L and VIP packages. In the rest, according to the terms of the tariff, long-distance calls and SMS to other operators are paid in addition to the monthly subscription fee. The MTS tariff family is called SMART and is differentiated into five packages costing from 250 rubles. up to 1,000 rubles per month. Calls to MTS numbers within Russia are included in the monthly fee and are unlimited on all tariffs, except for SMART mini. As part of SMART mini, the unlimited applies only to the operator's home network, and for long-distance roaming, when calling to MTS, the cost of a minute is 2 rubles. The terms of tariff plans are preserved throughout Russia. It is noteworthy that minutes, SMS and Internet traffic unused during the month within the limit are saved and transferred to the next month. Tariffs for international calls are set separately as part of the roaming policy.

The price range of the tariff packages of the Tele2 operator varies from 240 rubles. up to 600 rubles per month. One of the tariffs, namely “My Tele2”, provides for a daily subscription fee, which does not include packages of minutes and SMS messages. The uniqueness of the operator's proposals lies in the fireproofness of minutes, SMS and GB unused within the package limit, as in the MTS policy, and also in the fact that visiting social networks (VKontakte, Facebook, Odnoklassiniki), WhatsApp and Viber does not consume limit Internet traffic. If we compare the most budgetary tariff plans of operators, then their monthly subscription fee is approximately equal. The lowest price for Tele2 differs from the highest cost of the budget package by only 60 rubles. From the point of view of the limit of minutes and Internet traffic, the Beeline offer looks the most attractive. But it should be borne in mind that the minutes included in the subscription fee apply only to calls to all operators within the home region. In addition, MTS and Tele2 carry over the unspent limit to the next month, which may increase the figures presented in Table 5.

By and large, there are two ways for smartphone owners now: choose the most popular and most promoted by operators package tariffs, which include prepaid traffic, packages of minutes and messages, or independently assemble a constructor from a tariff without a monthly fee with per-minute billing and connect a suitable package the Internet. What to choose

All telecom operators offer a solid choice of tariff options for accessing the network. Actually, this allows the client to choose for himself not only convenient, but also the cheapest mobile Internet.

For an ordinary subscriber accessing social networks from a phone, checking mail and exchanging text messages in instant messengers like WhatsApp or Telegram, a large amount of traffic will be superfluous - 1-2 GB is enough for a whole month. In this case, the offer from Beeline is completely out of competition in terms of price.

Also, the company is the only one of the "big three" mobile operators that allows you to pay for the service only on the days when it is used.

If from a mobile phone it will be necessary not only to correspond, but also to watch movies and videos, play games, communicate via video calls using Skype or Viber services, then it is worth taking a closer look at large volumes of traffic. Here, MTS offers the cheapest access to the network, options from Beeline will be in second place, and Megafon is hopelessly losing to competitors in this battle.

If a person actively communicates not only on the Internet, but also calls and writes a lot of messages, then package tariffs will significantly save on all types of services. From the point of view of mobile Internet, the best option would be the "All" tariffs from Beeline, the offers of MTS and Megafon are much less profitable.

It should also be noted that these companies, when the daily or monthly traffic is exhausted, provide the opportunity to extend it on favorable terms. In particular, Beeline provides access to the network at the rates of the home region, for Megafon this service is free only with a large amount of traffic, and MTS charges an additional fee of 50 rubles per day upon use.
