Drivers- help to connect Android and the components that make up a smartphone or tablet: processors, memory, buttons, connectors, sensors and other microcircuits. Drivers are written by chip manufacturers - Samsung and companies that produce only certain parts.

If manufacturers do not write a driver for at least one microcircuit for a new firmware, the device will not be able to work normally with it. If the manufacturer of the communication chip with mobile network will not write the driver - the smartphone will not be able to call. If the camera manufacturer does not write a driver, the smartphone will not take pictures. The firmware will not be released until all manufacturers have written working drivers. Driver creation takes 2 - 4 months.

Drivers - cement for connecting the frame (Android) and the foundation (components), without which the building will collapse.

Device manufacturer services- are responsible for the appearance of the desktop, menu items, programs, for unique applications and functions. Without them, all tablets and smartphones would look the same and have the same feature set. This part of the code is written by Samsung.

Nobody names the exact date of the firmware appearance, because: a) several companies are working on it; b) the process lasts until full adaptation and elimination of errors.

For which smartphones and tablets the firmware will be released

New firmware is released for flagship devices within 18 months from the date of launch.

Flagship devices - smartphones and tablets Galaxy series S, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note, some mid-range models.

New firmware is not released for all devices.

Over time, firmware for a specific device is no longer released.

How to know if a new firmware has been released

If new firmware is available for your smartphone or tablet, a notification will appear at the top of the display.

Samsung has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat Official Update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F / G920F variants. Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge has already received Nougat updates. Now is the time for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge SM-G925F / G920F variants to get updated on latest Android 7.0 Nougat... This latest update will take your experience with Samsung S6 and S6 Edge to the whole new level. Android 7.0 Nougat comes with many new features and some security issues are also addressed in it. This update came with Build ID G920FXXU5EQBG and G925FXXU5EQAC.

Samsung rolled out the update in patches, so it’s quite possible you still haven’t got it yet. Therefore, if you still didn’t get the update on OTA you can download and install the update manually via Odin. Perquisites:

Before proceeding any further backup all your important data like Emails, Messages, Personal Photos, and Videos.
Download and install on your PC.
Make sure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your Android Device. You can enable USB Debugging by going to Settings > Developer options.
The device should be charged up to 70% to avoid any unexpected shutdowns. This is very important, any shutdown during the process can damage your device permanently.

Greece (Vodafone): folder and right click on Odin file and then click on Run as Administrator... After that connect your phone to PC with USB cable.

Step 5: In Odin tool one of the ID: COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number. This means your phone is connected successfully.

Step 6: Now click on AP and select md5 file of firmware which we extracted earlier.

Step 7: Before clicking on start make sure Auto reboot and F. Reset Time options are selected, but re-partition option must NOT be ticked.

Step 8: Your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge will reboot once the installation is completed. Keep the device connected to USB until you reach the home screen.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Stock Android 7.0 Nougat on your Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Apart from the big Android 7.0 update, Google announced a minor 7.1 update in early October. Android 7.1 hasn't been released yet, but you can try it out as a beta version. The only devices currently shipping with Android 7.1 are the Google Pixel.

Android 7.0 for Nexus

Unfortunately, the Nexus 5's life cycle has ended, so the smartphone hasn't received an update, which is quite expected. Nexus 7 (2013) also went overboard.

Google Pixel with Android 7.1 and proprietary launcher

For which devices the minor will be released Android update 7.1 is not yet known. According to rumors, 7.1 will be available for the following gadgets:

Android 7.0 for Samsung

You shouldn't expect surprises from Samsung - updates will probably come out late and come to a small number of devices. In November 2016, Samsung began testing Android 7.0 on its flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Also in development are firmwares for Galaxy Tab S2 and Galaxy Note 5. The first updates with the "seven", of course, will receive Galaxy flagships S7, and only then last year's Galaxy S6 and other devices.

Android 7.0 for Xiaomi

The Chinese are developing their own firmware based on Android 7.0 Nougat - MIUI 9. It is already known that this version is being tested. At the official MIUI forum, Xiaomi recruited testers with the Mi 5 smartphone. The following devices are expected to be updated to MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0:
