Sometimes the problem is the Nvidia GeForce Experience driver add-on. Disable all optimizations for the game in it.
On AMD graphics cards, the Gaming Evolved (Raptr) application can create problems. Try disabling or uninstalling it temporarily.
If there is Nvidia Capture Service in Task Manager, try terminating the process. End other processes related to video capture.
Update your graphics card driver.

Sniper Elite 4 has stopped starting
What changes did you make to the computer? Perhaps the problem was caused by the installation of a new program. Open the list of installed programs (Start -> Add or Remove Programs), sort by date. Remove recently installed. Reinstall Sniper Elite 4.
Also check your Task Manager. If copies of Sniper Elite 4 processes are running, terminate all of them.
Sniper Elite 4 freezes
Regular lags can be the cause of overclocking or other problem causing the computer to become unstable. Cancel the overclocking of PC components provided that it is in use. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus (especially with Avast!). Also see the tips in the startup errors section.
Error starting Sniper Elite 4
Sniper Elite 4 won't launch from Steam
Method 1: Restart the Steam Client
Solution 2: Exit Steam and navigate to C: \ Program Files \ Steam \ (or which you specified when installing Steam).
Delete the files listed below:
ClientRegistry.blob
Restart your computer.
After that, run Steam.exe from the folder where Steam is installed, not from a shortcut on your desktop.
Try to launch the game.
Important... This procedure will not affect installed games.
If the problem persists, make sure your computer and network are Steam-optimized:
Download and install VC ++ 2013.
And other required libraries.
Try uninstalling Visual C ++. Then install Visual C ++ from the game folder:
- Go to the Steam Library
- Select Sniper Elite 4 from the list
- Right click on the game and select "Properties"
- Select "Local Files"
- Go to the \ _CommonRedist \ vcredist folder
If Sniper Elite 4 does not start and there are no errors. If this is the first launch, then just try to wait.
Update your video driver
Make sure you are using the latest Nvidia PhysX (for Nvidia graphics cards) and DirectX.
Make sure the option is set to "Application Controlled" in the Nvidia Control Panel settings.
Another way is to run the game as administrator:
- Go to the Steam Library
- Choose from the list Sniper Elite 4
- Right click on the game and select "Properties"
- Select "Local Files"
- Select Browse Local Files ...
- In the game folder, select the game file.
- Select the file with the right mouse button
- Select Properties from the dropdown menu
- In the Properties window select the Compatibility tab
- In the "Options" section, check the box "Run this program as administrator"
- Click "Apply"
- Start the game
Try lowering your screen resolution before launching the game.
Make sure your Windows operating system and third-party software are updated to newer versions.

If you have any USB controllers (or other devices) connected to your network, try unplugging them. Crashes on startup with crash module names ntdll.dll and EZFRD64.DLL can (in particular for the latter) be related to USB controllers or PS2 to USB adapters (for various games).

If you receive an error message MSVCR120.dll, go to C: \ Windows \ System 32 and search for "MSVCR120.dll". Delete this file. Go to C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Sniper Elite 4 \ _CommonRedist \ vcredist \ 2013 and run "vcredist_x64.exe". Then click "repair".
Sniper Elite 4 not starting
Game won't start, black screen or nothing happens at all.
Solution:
- Close Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and close Steam.exe in Task Manager.
- Open Steam and try restarting the game.
- Also, in the properties of the game in the Steam library on the "Local files" tab, click "check the integrity of the cache".
SniperElite4_DX11.exe Has Stopped Working
Solution:
The most recent driver from Nvidia is causing problems for some users.
If you downloaded this driver (Link), then try rolling back to the previous version.
- Go to Device Manager (Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager)
- Expand the list of video adapters -> NVIDIA GPU Properties
- Open the Driver tab -> Click the Roll Back button
Dramatic drop in frame rate. Low FPS and freezes
Approximately every 20-30 seconds, the frame rate drops from a constant 90-95 frames at maximum settings to 1 fps for about 10 seconds.
Solution:
- Try to enable / disable the Vsync setting
- Try disabling SLI if you have multiple video cards
- In settings switch DX12 to DX11
- Download the latest Nvidia / AMD drivers.
- Also, the reason for the very low FPS can be running background programs, video recording / streaming.

- Open the Nvidia Control Panel
- Switch Vsync to Adaptive
- Turn on the Triple Buffering setting (On)
- Set Maximum Prerendered Frames to: 1
- Turn on Threaded Optimization (On)
Before launching a stream of angry comments on the development team, do not forget to go to the official website of your video card manufacturer and download the latest driver. You can often find specially optimized drivers for a specific game. You can also try to install past versions of the driver if the problem is not resolved by installing the most recent version. It is important to remember that only the final versions of the driver should be downloaded - try not to use beta versions.
Many problems can occur due to improper installation. Make sure there were no errors during the installation. Try reinstalling the game, but do not forget to disable your antivirus before installing, as it may mistakenly delete necessary files during the installation process. It is also important to remember that the path to the game folder must contain only Latin letters and numbers.
You can also try to run the game "as administrator", as well as in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.
