A distinctive feature and highlight of the device is a pure Android operating system, without the proprietary MIUI shell. The new slogan reads: “created by Xiaomi, powered by Google”. The smartphone will run Android 7.1.2 out of the box, but by the end of the year it will be one of the first to receive an update to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The body is made of metal. The 2.5D display is protected by Gorilla Glass. The fingerprint scanner is on the back. The rest of the controls have their usual location: touch buttons under the screen, physical power and volume buttons on the right side, a slot for SIM cards and memory cards on the left side. A USB Type-C connector is used for charging; a separate 3.5 mm jack is implemented for connecting headphones. The infrared port for control of electronics and household appliances occupies the upper end. The smartphone will be available in three colors: black, gold and rose gold.
The presentation focused on the camera, which consists of two modules with a resolution of 12 MP and 2x optical zoom. The manufacturer emphasizes that the camera is new "like the iPhone 7 Plus". The taken photo will be processed by special algorithms using machine learning. The front camera has a resolution of 5 MP.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. For speed and performance, the energy-efficient eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with a frequency of up to 2.0 GHz and an Adreno 506 graphics processor are responsible. The amount of RAM is 4 GB, the built-in memory is 64 GB. The device supports the installation of memory cards up to 128 GB. The non-removable battery has a capacity of 3080 mAh.
Official sales will begin on September 12 in India. Xiaomi Mi A1 is expected to appear on the Belarusian market in October.
